    christmas break
hey! my name is Lorna and i'm from the US and will be coming to bode this fall - (can't wait!) my question is christmas break. i know we have, what is it? two or three weeks vacation for christmas break. i was told that you are unable to stay at the school during that time. i won't be able to fly home for christmas, so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do. i was also told that a family could be arranged for me to stay with, but i was hoping more of a sightseeing trip.

has anyone ever taken those couple weeks and gone backpacking to berlin, or sightseeing in switzerland or austria? is that possible to do for a reasonable price? is there usually a lot of students who dont' go home for xmas and get together instead?

    Hi Lorna,
well, i did went home, since I´m from Germany
But I think only one at my year (from Canada) went home for Christmas break. All others went for trips all over Germany and Europe. You should check the Low Fare Airline (and i mean LOW FARE ARILINE - trips fpr 50 cents -plus tax-!!!!) www.ryanair.com , where you can fly very cheap all over Europe. Some even depart from Friedrichshafen. And most of the students went as a team.
Because of Confirmation camps over Christmas you probably wont be able to stay at Bhof, but believe me, you will be very happy to be gone for some days :P

hi! i went to the bode last fall and a bunch of people traveled during christmas. i went to a resort in turkey for a week and then saw paris for a week. it's deffinitly afordable (especially when the other option is flying home to the US). cheap airlines are great. the trains can also take you anywhere. www.hostelworld.com is where my traveling buddy found out hostel in paris for a really great price. we also spent the night at one f or german friends houses, so after you meet people you could visit or stay with them. there's tons to do and tons to see, and it will make a lot more sense as to what you do once you know people over there. have an amazing time!
    smile,
    Elise from cali
