'The Name Of The Game' Cut From Film?
Hello,
Elsewhere on The Internet, I've seen various people saying that
although, 'The Name Of The Game', was Sung/included in the
'special' showings of, 'Mamma Mia!', (earlier in 2008), the Scene/Song
has been CUT from the finished Film!
Instead it will be one of the 'Deleted Scenes', on the DVD of
the Film - near the end of the Year.
However, the Song IS on the 'Mamma Mia!' Sound Track CD.
BUT - 'Chiquitita' IS in the Film - but it's NOT on the Sound Track CD!

Really? Chiquitita is in? That's great.
I rather hope for a directors cut if TNOFT is really cut out rather than having the deleted scenes / Songs on a seperate disc or so...
And what about Thank You For The Music, it is said it's a cast-recording that's played during the credits while the Soundtrack featured a recording by Amanda Seyfried (?) as a hidden track after I Have A Dream...

'Thank You For The Music' is a 'hidden track' on the Sound Track CD.
Giving the Sound Track CD, (1 Disk), 18 Tracks.
Any 'Deleted Scenes', from the Film, will be 'Extras' on the DVD
of the Film, in late 2008.
ALL of the Songs/Instrumentals from the Film, MAY be on a 2
Disk 'Special Edition', of the Sound Track - IF it comes out.
If the 2 CD Set does get released, it will probably be at about
the same time as the DVD - towards the end of 2008.
I hear that part of 'I Do, I Do, I Do...' is in the Film, but NOT on the
Sound Track CD.
Also, in the 'End Credits', you get to see 'Dancing Queen',
'Waterloo', & 'Thank You For The Music' - by the Cast - so, it is
important to sit through the End Credits! ('Waterloo' is NOT on the
Sound Track CD).

I on iTunes Canada the track list for the soundtrack does not include 'Chiquitita' or 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' , I Do x5 or 'One of Us'. Were they cut from the movie???
It does include 'When All is Said and Done', however. WAISAD was not in the play, yes? It's a duet with Meryl and Pierce in the movie.

As I understand it, 'One Of Us', 'Under Attack', & 'Knowing Me,
Knowing You', were never Filmed for the Movie - but, I think
that 'Under Attack' & 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', are used
as Instrumentals in it.
'I Do, I Do, I Do...' IS in the Film - but is NOT on the Soundtrack CD.
'Chiquitita' IS in the Film - but, is also NOT on the Soundtrack CD.
'The Name Of The Game' WAS Filmed - I hear - but, they cut
it from the Film - and that will be a 'Bonus Scene' on the DVD,
later in 2008. (It IS on the Soundtrack CD).
'Thank You For The Music', & 'Waterloo', are NOT performed IN
the Film - but, you SEE them being performed, if you stay in the
Cinema, and watch the 'End Credits' - and you see 'Dancing Queen'
performed, then too - but that Track is ALSO seen IN the Film.
'Thank You For The Music' is a, 'Hidden Track', on the Soundtrack
CD - making it Track 18. 'Waterloo' is NOT on the Soundtrack CD.
'Dancing Queen' IS on the Soundtrack CD - of course - you'd
expect that Song to be included.
'When All Is Said & Done' was NOT in the Stage Show, but IS in
the Film, & IS also on the Soundtrack CD.

I really like The Name Of The Game on the Soundtrack. I'd go so far as to say it's my favourite track.

Good version of the song but it's not among my favourites from the album and I'm glad they didn't include it in the film. It just wouldn't have fit at all.
