High Performance ride to Ft. Hucachuca, Arizona
November came up and it was time for some High Performance hours. I knew just where to get a 235 HP Cessna 182, but where to go? Oh, good. A "Wings" program with pancake breakfast and a Young Eagles event at the combined Ft. Huachuca Army Post and Sierra Vista Municipal Airport in Sierra Vista, Arizona, a pleasant 155nautical miles to the southeast. I might as well make it, and will invite a friend to ride along. :P

I'm intolerant of those who've called my "Pink Panther" the world's ugliest plane. Little paint, major renewal of the interior, upgraded avionics, she'll be fine :D

Tuscon International Airport passes beneath us. A 737 departed parallel to our course and began a steep climb and a right turn, headed straight for a point in the sky I had already picked as mine. What to do :?: No problem. I can turn circles around that bad boy. I turned left, well inside his own turning arc, and set us up for a direct course to Ft. Huachuca in the process :!: I wonder if anyone in that plane saw us

Passenger/friend Dave, his hands having been pried off the door handle, pretends to be relaxed after landing a little strangely at FHU's 12,000 ft. runway. (No, that wasn't a typo) As I turned final a plane took a stand on the end of the runway and departed in front of us, making it necessary to 'make a little space.' Piece o' cake. Let the passenger be a little nervous :P

This U.S. Army RC-12 Communications/Reconnaisance plane was on disply, and in this case no, "RC" does not mean radio controlled. Good thing the snoopy stuff had been taken out of the thing cuz I wanted some of them

"PP" stands and waits in the cool, clear air while we enjoy ourselves. She's a good sport though, and gives us a great takeoff while a C-130 lumbers slowly off the runway ahead of us and an inbound crowds us from behind. Hey, the passenger wanted a little excitement
Sweet trip home, and 3.6 hours on the Hobbs meter. Good day :!:

The guy at the rental was so happy he went home and killed a goat :D
