..as mentioned.. northern part of Germany isn't such a spectacular landscape, so we love to fly to the North Sea Islands. I had to build some hours for my validation, the wheather was nice, so we did a hop to the coast... the first time I took my girlfriend with me :mrgreen:
The Mission was from EDLB to EDWL which is one of the small German Islands in the North Sea called Langeoog... so let PocketFMS do the plannings.. :D
There we go - RWY 26 in Borkenberge... which can be a challenge sometimes.. :roll:
Borkenberge - some call it a camping site with a landing strip : )
So this is what my girlfriend was like:
some lakes near EDLB
accidentally we crossed our house 8)
after 70mins you reach the coastline..
this is a Nature Reserve and a special area where the sea completely disappears for miles at low tide and comes back to the beach 6hours later.. a lot of birds around picking little worms and crabs to some islands you can even walk at low tide.. if you hurry 8)
its really just a hop over to the islands and one is next to the other..
the island people gain some land for their cattle from the sea..
looks nice, but it was bloody 15°C water temp :shock:
The final approach on Langeoog.. funny winds around :?
just a cup of coffe .. and the fan was on again ..
downtown Langeoog 8)
and finally we crosser my hometown "Billerbeck" again..
.. I know this is a boring one for Northern Germans :cry: but the best you can get on a single day :D

Hey, you got some great pics on that one, Daniel! Good going. And don't knock the scenery. It's very pleasant and quite pilot-friendly, wouldn't you say, thinking of the potential emergency landing?

I agree with you, Ken, every place has different landscapes and this makes it worth flying. Islands, mountains, sea, lakes, plains, rivers, everything is interesting from the sky, and from Germany you are well located to choose what kind of environment you want :lol: .

:D Right on, Vagabond! Over here we have a place or two where we can land and take off at a minus elevation. :!: How's that for novelty? In southern California we have the Salton Sea, which like the Great Salt Lake and the Dead Sea, is below sea level. Just west of the Salton Sea is the village of Salton City and a small, private airport at -85 ft. :!: I haven't landed there yet but have my sights set on it. :P
I've enjoyed every new novelty, including taxiing in snow, flying in rain, and passing snow-covered mountains. It's a hoot. :lol:
