´I came toEngland over 50 Jears ago, when I was a joung man. I’d tried to find a job in Jamaica, but I couldn’t. So I decided to go to England. I lived in a hostel with other Jamaicans for a few weeks. The first thing was to get work. I soon succeeded in getting a job as a hospital cleaner. They expected me to work long hours. It was hard work too, but I’ve never minded working hard. Not like today. Young people don’t seem to do much work at all, do they? As far as I can see, they just enjoy going out to night clubs. People today allow their kids what just they want. Rose and I weren’t interested in going to night clubs. We wanted to have our own house. Rose persuaded me to buy it, and I’m glad she did. We managed to spend enough money from what we earned. We worked hard and we didn’t complain. I don’t beleave in ______________ about everything. I think you should keep your head down and do your job. I’ve been good at keeping my head down. I don’t beleave in riots. I don’t do things like that. That’s just not my way of doing things. I had no trouble. And we’ve been very happy.
