well guys i had the chance to test out the saphire 2600 xt a few weeks ago and was i impresed with the first mid range card from the 2000 range well yes i was 390 million transistors on 65nm fabrication process
    120 stream processing units
Up to 40 texture fetches per clock cycle
Up to 128 textures per pixel High resolution texture support (up to 8192 x 8192
    Physics processing support
    800 mhz core clock speed
The Sapphire did score better in most of the benchmarks than the GeForce 8600 GT and with both priced around US$149 for the best models, the Radeon HD 2600 XT actually does come off as a very decent alternative. The low power draw and the ultra-quiet cooler on the Sapphire HD Radeon 2600 XT are other attractive factors on this card.

with the arival of dx 10 games coming the benchmarks are expected to get batter over its rival so guys you see those ppl who went out and bought the first dx10 cards will be disapointed :big_pc

ok i did not have the best games at hand to test this baby out but it was decent enough i chose to use the new command and conqurer game and when you have it set at high res and lots of units and buildings on the screen it dose test you system well i had anti aslining up full and all graphic settings set to ultra high with no puases or drags though the game
it ran perfect and smooth so if your not up for spending lots of bananas on a new card i recomend the 2600xt btw forget the pro version not worth it

Well the 128 bit memory interface is surely a bottleneck. The next mid range generation Geforce 9600 and so on is supposed to get the 256 bit treatment.

ok you said 128 mb ram dose bottle neck cards these days all new ati cards come with 250 or 500 but what im worried about is when dx 10 games come along will 256 mb ram bottle neck it i think its a safer bet to get a card with half a gig or ram or 2 256 cards running in sli or x fire mode

im sure this will be the time when sli and x fire really takes off due to demanding games coming

ah my bad did not read your post correct your talking about the bit config yes 256 would be better for us all
