I finally quit last September. Clean until today. (Proud I am.)

I sincerely hope this topic was not meant to "celebrate" their smoking. My cousin died from lung cancer caused by a lifetime of smoking. She tried to quit many times but could never break the habit as nicotine is a very addictive drug.
I smoked for a very short time as a teenager but decided very quicky that trying to "be cool" was not worth it. Besides the health hazard, it's an utterly disgusting habit. It stinks, stains your clothes and teeth and makes you smell bad.
I'm pleased that the members of ABBA quit that nasty habit for their own sake.

I'm sure Agnetha was happy she quit, and probably wished she had never started:

Yeah I'm always glad when people give up but its a personal choice, I know lots of people who smoke but sorry Bruce not all of them are smelly and have bad breathe. I know you weren't pointing the finger but felt I had to say it.

Indeed, though particularly Agnetha looked like a non-smoker back in the 70s. I could tell that B&B smoked but it was hard to imagine she was a heavy smoker..
This topic is the last thing I need at this moment of my life (sorry Magda, nothing personal) as I am having my lungs x-rayed next Tuesday and as a smoker, I'm in the middle of the worst horror trip.

Ah Ivana! That is terrible!
I am sure everything will be fine!
I have always been able to smoke only when I was in the mood for it with some coffee or beer. I never got addicted and I am very happy for it since it is indeed very hard to quit.
A year ago I just decided I will not buy cigarettes anymore and so far I haven't although I have had a few cigarettes with friends in the last year...

Magda, since you have just posted the pictures and did not add any written comment to point out what kind of debate you imagined to get started in connection with ABBA, this topic turns into a general debate about smoking.
This issue is a serious one and worth to be discussed, but not in this forum, since we do not allow miscellaneous topics according to the site rules.
I hope for your understanding that we therefore must lock it.
Ivana, I'm sure everything will be fine. Don't panic. I know how you feel and a more or less serious complication which fortunately did not kill me was the reason I finally managed to jump off the train. Use your fear to get rid of the habit. It's a good opportunity.
As for the younger friends: Never start! Avoid the first one to stay safe.
Johnny
