Which recording uses the most vocal tracks do you think?
Which recording do you think has the most vocal tracks in the mix? I'm guessing songs like
Slipping Through My Fingers
Under Attack
Soldiers
are good guesses?
Let me know what you think!
Thanks, abbadedo

Don't know what exactly can (technically) be defined as 'different' vocal tracks. Any background line, each "a-ha" a new track?
Anyway, in my opinion "One Man, One Woman" is one of the most 'interesting' songs at least, because of the variations of the melody in the backing vocals, best audible in OOPS. Guess the song would have worked even with the alternate melody line.
Also interesting and maybe a contestant: "Hole In Your Soul".

I would say
"If It Wasn´t For The Nights"
"When I Kissed The Teacher"
"Lovelight"
"Take A Chance On Me"
"Move On"
"The Name Of The Game"
ABBA´s voices are multiplied to a remarkable choir in each of them.

Interesting question. I've seen many good exemples already. I absolutely love the chorus of Slipping Through My Fingers. The different voices are so beautiful. Actually each melodyline on its own is strong enough. I also think, as Kitty does, Angeleyes is a good exemple. Especially when the instrumental part is beginning. As a song it may not be one of their best, but I think Two For The Price Of One is worth listening to for the part of Agnetha's and Frida's (I can't tell at this moment if both of them are singing there). Really beautiful and hard to sing. I'm surprised noone has mentioned Should I Laugh Or Cry (or do I need to learn to read better..., perhaps I'm too quick). The Chorus sounds almost heavenly to me if I may use the word.
Well..isn't it one of their "secrets" that they were able to use harmonies to a level of perfection? The Beatles were good at it as well, but their songs are easier to sing which is, by the way, most certainly not a disqualification.
On the other hand, sometimes the vocals are over the top. Personally I think very good songs like One Of Us and When All Is Said And Done are bit "spoiled" by the excessive use of "aaaaah's". It's too much and I think that is mainly because the "aaaah"s are exactly the same as the melodylines of the words. I'm not sure if I put this right, but I hope you understand what I mean.

What about Two For the Price of One? Two things stand out:
The girls backing on the chorus: usually the background singing contains only specific or choice words from the lead vocal, in order to accompany and accent the lead vocal. In this track, the background lyrics contain MORE words than the lead vocal. Second, if you listen closely, you can hear Frida softly sing along with the same vocal track and melody as the boys (or Bjorn) in the chorus to smooth it out and enrich the sound.

I always thought the harmonies became more complex towards the end of ABBA. So that makes most of the songs already mentioned plausible.
Wouldn't it be heaven to be able to hear all the tracks sepeartely?
