Pispiza ist das Lakota-Wort für Präriehund,
einem Tier dass im täglichen und im spirituellen Leben dieses Stammes eine große Rolle spielt.
Die Farmer sehen sie als Existenzbedrohung an.
Die Präriehunde sind stark bedroht und es werden wie bei den Bisons Schutzprogramme benötigt,
um ihre Art zu erhalten.
Ähnlich wie diesen Tieren ergeht es auch der Lakotakultur. Diese ist durch diverse Faktoren,
wie weißer Lebensstil, Alkohol, Drogen stark gefährdet. Diejenigen,
die am meisten darunter leiden sind wie so oft die Kinder.
Das Pispiza Wounspe Projekt setzt hier seinen Hebel an.
Frühintervention in Problemfamilien und Förderung von Kindern und Jugendlichen ist das Ziel unserer Organisation.
Dabei versuchen wir Tradition und Moderne so miteinander verbinden, dass den Jugentlichen eine Chance
gegeben wird, sich in ihrer Kultur und der "weißen Kultur" zurecht zu finden. Gleichzeitig versucht das Projekt
aber auch Jugentliche aus verschiedenen Kulturräumen zusammenzubringen um gemeinsam an einer Verbesserung
unserer Zukunft zu bauen und Vorurteile zu tilgen.

Auszug aus den Zielen des Projektes:
- Lakota Kindern Hilfe und Unterstützung in harten Zeiten zu geben (Geborgenheit, Unterkunft, Kleidung etc.)
- Das Lehren und Übersetzen der eigenen Lakota Sprache
- Das Bewahren von Traditionen
- Das Teilen der Traditionen und des Wissens mit Nicht-Indianern
- Gründung von Läden für traditionelles Handwerk und Kunst
- Kulturvermittlung der traditionellen Lakota Lebensweise in Tipi Camps
- Ein Verständnis zwischen Menschen und Tieren schaffen.

Das Pispiza Wounspe Projekt wird in Deutschland durch den Förderverein der indianischen Kultur e.V. unterstützt.

At the same time the project in addition, teenager from different culture areas
tries to bring together at an improvement of our future to build over together and prejudices erase.

Excerpt from the goals of the project:
- To give Lakota children assistance and support in hard times (security, accommodation, clothes etc.)
- The theory and translating of the own Lakota language
- Dividing the traditions and the knowledge with non--natives
- Establishment of shops for traditional handicraft and art
- Culture switching of the traditional Lakota way of life in Tipi Camps
- An understanding between humans and animals create.
