ABBA: THE RIDE
A hundred-year-old custom warehouse, on the south quay of central Stockholm, will soon become a museum to the pop super group ABBA.
With the aid of 'No Limits' Virtual coaster software, I am designing a coaster based experience which will be the perfect companion to this new, exciting experience.
Follow the progress of project Absol Bre Squared http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p3126
This thread is your chance to influence the ride design and layout, from content of thematic drive throughs to faster paced, music synchronized elements. If you were creating the perfect ABBA tribute ride what would you include?
Note all scenery is of the 3DS format and cannot be animated since No Limits does not support this.

Hello jrrcoasterfan
This looks to be a exciting addition to the Abba museum project,Your virtual designs look fantastic so far,If i was to choose what i would like to see or hear dureing this ride i would personaly choose some of these ideas i really like the music to be a journey through Abba's entire career starting the ride with there first hit as a group then ending the ride experience with there last release as an active group Under Attack,It would also be nice to have included in the ride design scenery Blown up images of all Abba members before,dureing and after Abba,The design layout of the carriges could include
large numbers representing the years Abba was active from 1972 until 1982,It would also be nice to include a montage of Abba merchandice in the design layouts on the carriges, These ideas are maybe a bit far fetched! :lol:

Hi and welcome.
This looks like a funny venue.
Could you please create a virtual Agnetha that takes a ride with me in one of those vehicles? That would be awesome.
I guess Johnsteven would have fun riding with Frida.
:welcome: :mrgreen:

The font for the ABBA logo is wrong. It should be News Gothic Bold, like this http://www.abba-world.net/images/pictures/logo.gif

Small Update
Being under exam pressures I haven't had that much time to progress this project beyond where it was at before. One side project which I have managed to complete is shown below.
Its certainly not flattering, and I won't be including it without vigorous revision but it might raise a smile!
(Its a lot harder to do than you might imagine!!)

I can imagine it. I have tried to get into programming of 3D scenery for MS Flight Simulator and it's a pain.
I want a virtual Agnetha. :blob1:

Will do I promise, I wanted to work on this model first to get some practice - I don't want to disappoint you :D
Compare this model to my first humanoid:

You can see how much things have improved, but there is still a long way to go. I'm also waiting for my portable hard drive so I can install 3DSmax again, and I'm sure that will really help matters progress.

Well, yes, uhm . . . I understand. :lol:
Take your time. Even Our Good Lord needed a million years to come up with something as perfect like her.

That looks sounds like a very good dream. I'm sure the fans gonna love this, aren't we? Though, it wouldn't be as great if it became too a huge marketing success. I mean, we still admire the group for the music, and not for the fact it's in the media. That might have been during the heyday, but we should keep some respect voor the magic image they created by songs which are down-to-earth and very human-like in a way, based on great melodies.
And good luch by the way. ;)

I completely agree, ABBA: The Ride will not just be a drab museum based archive ride, it will fully celebrate the breadth and depth of the group with music synchronized zones that explore the lyrical and musical complexity that is ABBA.
From a downward spiral lift to the melodic notes of 'Another Town, Another Train' into a bleak station set, and on into the first portion of the ABBA Early Years to the explosive L.I.M launch set to 'Love Light' this ride will be an opportunity not just to explore the history of ABBA but to experience its musical philosophy and beauty. The Great thing about this project is I get to decide EXACTLY what makes it in, and believe you me, the final product will be incredible.
ABBA media is an important aspect of the groups success however, and its important we don't forget that either. In building the first slow paced segments of the ride its simply the easiest place for me to start, but I totally agree its not the most important, and never will be.
It's important at this stage of the rides design to start listing clearly what elaborate sets you want to see. A 'set' implies a portion of the given track played in full in an environment stimulated by inferences from the song. The chronological aspect of a ride such as this is important I feel, but beyond that what can be included is almost limitless.
It would be very helpful to me if loyal fans such as yourselves could start to draw up lists in chronological order of elements you would like to see included. These should be laid out roughly as below:-
Entry station:
* Downward Spiral Lift
* Another Town, Another Train set with train model.
* Merry-go-round set with suitable model
* (DETAILS)
Early Years Media
* Love Light Launch with strobe and other lighting effects.
* (DETAILS)
ABBA Fame Media
* Eagle set, with 'Flying' portion.
* (DETAILS)
Legacy Media
* The visitors set as album cover style
* (DETAILS)
* Under Attack brings ride to a close

Hej.
I haven't thought about the whole thing yet BUT i could see something working with the songs if it wasn't for the nights and super trouper relating to the 79/80 tour. Super trouper (Large spotlight on stage) therefore spotlights etc, if it wasn't for the nights ... from the year of 1979 where concerts would happen during the evening/nights etc. It's a very sketchy idea but hope you can find something in it =]
Best wishes
Samy

Just thinking...
Dont suppose you could end the ride with ''ABBA - Just Like That'' :lol:
Just like that could play... and that was ABBA... Just like that so to speak :D lol
Samy x
P.S - Alternatively could end with So long, So long ABBA although that could be seen as a little depressing and it wont be chronilogical then

A very helpful thought, keep them coming.
I had thought of a bright spot light relating to Super Trouper, I imagined either circling it or going through it into the next zone.

I'm not sure if I should include 'Just like That' because of it being unreleased, but it could be used and would tie in with the chronological aspect.
I had previously considered ending with The Way Old Friends Do and breaking the chronology because I think it is cracking conclusion and a more positive one than under attack, what do you think of that? I was kinda moving away from that idea myself.

Floor 1 layout progress shot
With more exams, don't expect any updates until just over a week, but do keep your ideas and feedback rolling in!
It's nice to see another element falling into place for the first time (all textures are drafts and models are incomplete)
