see, there is another reason for me to criticize the Christian Church. There you see, that they´ll always see themselves as the ones to "rescue" people all over the world, no matter of their own wonderful cultures and believes ... oh yes, I totally forgot that the Indians in Northamerica were waiting for the first Christian people to come and tell them to forget about their wrong and destroying believes and to only trust in Jesus as well ... :x

I have no problem with people having their own beliefs, as long as they don't ram it down other people's throats. As long as my friends don't try to convert me then we will co-exist just fine. It's just the notion of somebody trying to "save" me that really rubs me the wrong way. The problem is that they all believe that their way is the ONLY way. I mean, why can't there be more than one way?

There are a lot of religions out there - morman, christian, baptist, catholoic, to name a few......and all feel their "religion" is the "only one" however no one should shove "their religion" down someones throat.

I've oftened wondered why they all want to turn their attention to 3 world countries instead of looking in their own back yard.....

Have you noticed that all the different beliefs are basically the same ... so how to find the right one?

Yes, it´s this "saving" thing, that makes me so mad! Why saving someone when there is no need for it? It´s more forcing !!! Mabye you want to read "The Grassdancers" - it´s a wonderful book and it´s also telling about making Indians believe in Jesus ... I thought it was interesting.

I've not heard of the Grassdancers but will look for it.

Some religions can be quit forceful. Were I work I'm surrounded by all types of religions - muselum, buddist, hindu, jewish, christian etc and we all seem to be able to get along. We can all sit around and talk about the various ones without offending. Course some countries their main wars are religious ones.....

and that´s actually the craziest kind of war ever !!!

I do accept/respect everyone´s religion as long as they can accept/respect mine ...

yes it is - it's like those countries you have to be either or - which doesn't make a lot of sense. Here in America we are made of a lot of religions and beliefs.

Like you, I have no problems with anyones religion or beliefs.

I think it's the best way to be, Nancy! :D

One of my best friends is Muslim, but we are both able to see each other's spiritual perspectives.

That´s what the people forget most of the times: you still can learn something new when you open your mind to new things. I guess, my own beliefs are a mix of cultures and religions ... there are too many things I´m interested in and want to learn about and I just take the best (for me) out of it. There are also things I don´t like, but I would never dare to condemn them.

We have a lot of muslim students in our Dept and I must say after 9/11 they were very instrumental in teaching me and others the truth about the muslim religion. Not just letting us believe it was twisted. There are many out there who "Twist" religion for their own personal gain and use.
And someone once said to me when I was little - "it's not your religion that saves you but what's in your heart". I've always remembered that.

We are to love and respect each other - not condem someone because their beliefs are different than ours.

sorry didn't mean to get to preaching.
