Thank you very much for posting that! :) I mean, notice this:
Translated for all the not-Dutch people here: (only the first part) A sentimental journey through all the greatest hits of ABBA. What was their secret behind their music and were their songs really that good? We look back on many of their hits, developments in their music and texts spoken by the members theirselves, including Agnetha. (The other part is most of a general information.)
Hmm, I'm not very fond of that Agnetha-part though, like she hated ABBA or something. OK, it's a fact she was not very active or very involved with the bands' business, but saying she never thought about it? Anyway, I don't hope this is not that On-Speaking-Terms like, so to say. Maybe it's just the Winner Takes It All documentary, I don't know.

Hi, I think this is a documentary that was shown on Australian television before. It seems interesting, also the fact that it is broadcasted by NPS is promising.
Thanks for the tip!

We will. ;) I'm happy it's time for The Netherlands to get a documentary now! Most of times, they broadcast those programms in Sweden (a country which I can't watch here) or in England, and have to get informed afterwards there was some great stuff about ABBA showed on the BBC or something like that.

Update: VARA (some television magazine) published an article about ABBA, or more or less about their 'best songs'. I won't translate the whole text now, but for the Dutch fans, here's the first page of it:
Notice some small mistake they made. One of the above pictures was not taken from Lay All Your Love On Me (they didn't even made a video about that one) but from the famous Take A Chance On Me.

Not quite. ;-) There is a clip for "Lay All Your Love On Me", but it's an edit of previous photos and video clips. This scene is included in it as well.

Oh I remember that! It was shown here in the UK at the end of 2005. Not bad! An analysis of ABBA's 20 biggest hits from various celebs, and a computer calculates how they would fare in todays charts. Some quite surprising results, I thought.

OK, but that wasn't an official video! ;) As far as I remember there's no videoclip of it on the Definitive Collection, which includes every original one they made, I thought. Still, I do understand why they took this pic: they wanted to show at least one shot with every song they picked, and since Lay All Your Love On Me wasn't a real hit or a very famous one..
Thanks for that link by the way Dutchy!

Tell me about it. ;) And don't worry, if it really is going to be a worse documentary with a lot of stupid mistakes, I won't be ashamed of sending an e-mail.

A lot of attention goes to Agnetha in this article. This seems to be a continues thingn (from the seventies onwards) ..the audience and journalists in particular focus on Agnetha when it comes to ABBA.

You state this as a fact but it is of course just your opinion. Just to clear that up!

Of course you did since you are blinded by your adoration of Agnetha!
Nothing wrong with that of course but please stop making her the queen of ABBA since there were four equally important members in ABBA.
And *that* is a fact!

Tonight it's going to be broadcast on television. I will post some review over the two hours filled with ABBA I think. To me, that article wasn't focused to much on Agnetha at all. Only that small part I mentioned before but let's be straight: a public appereance became rare in the past few years. So I would suggest to first watch this programm before posting your judices.

What's so important about Frida on a cover? She was on covers of magazines in Sweden if that is what you mean.
That article in the TV magazine didn't focus on Agnetha at all. It was fun actually. And, hey, I should know, I'm biaised myself!
Anyway, let's wait and see what tonight will bring!
Re: ABBA on Dutch tv

Since the other thread is locked now.. What about the documentairy tonight? I've seen the whole programm, and it was worth it, though I was a bit disappointed about the comments. All four were not talking much at all, and it was Björn who came with the new facts. Almost every line Frida said was taken from other DVDs. Agnetha's contribution to this whole thing was absolutely zero in many ways: no new stuff, only some words we heard before on the *great* interview she did some years ago and her book. Sometimes I feel like these documentaries should stop being made, but on the other hand, some comments were great fun, especially Daniel Bedingfield was very nice. Some comments on the songs were not ingenious at all, but at least some people did some nice job. And it was good to hear Judy Cramer talking about her thoughts on ABBA instead of Mamma Mia! . It was worth watching.

As I said I enjoyed the way this program was done, Hopefully one of these days we may get a ABBA interview where all former members get together and answer some questions, and talk fondly about the years they spent together.
They must be proud of their achievements, Agnetha talks about the years with ABBA as does Frida, and Both Bjorn and Benny.
Especially with the mega sucess of Mamma Mia as a Musical and soon coming to the screen in a Movie Version .
It would be nice to actually get a DVD with a contribution by all former members instead of Just Bjorn, Benny & Frida.

That would be great Maxi Saxi but I don't think we will get something new. I am getting sick off the same things over and over again. Like this special. The only thing I enjoyed were the comments of Sophie Ellis Baxter and Daniel Beddingfield. " Al is said and done"

I liked J. Cramer telling us the thought behind Chiquitita was, two women comforting eachother. I like Andy Bell too, He thought Agnetha was acting her part in The day before you came very good. He made me laugh when he told us that he and Vince both wanted to play Agnetha in the video for Take a chance but Vince insisted!

I was very suprised yesterday to see some of the people who gave comments really knew something about ABBA. It was obvious they liked them, and they were selected not only because of a famous name. They really said something intresting about some songs and the group.
But I still thing Bono's Dancing Queen is worthless. 8)

I watched it, or better I recorded it onto my pc's hard drive. I have my pc connected directly to cable and have a 320 gb hard disc drive to record onto. I watched some parts now from the documentary and it's interesting but nothing really new. It's a bit like those "music in review" dvd's, but the video quality of the performances (mostly from promotional films or the "The Movie" dvd) is much better. The interview sequences with Björn seem to be taken from the "The History" documentary, which also was on the "Gold" dvd and is now also available in the "The Complete Studio Recordings" box, at least the blue box, don't know if it's on the "bare" version of those release. And I think there's not an interview part with one of the Abba's that I haven't seen before. The "celeb" parts aren't that interesting. I won't buy the dvd, if it will be released. I have it on my pc, after all. One thing I hate is I can't make a decent dvd from this recording. I've recorded from about one minute before it started until 10 minutes after the airing had ended. And I don't know how to "cut" those parts from the recording and make a decent dvd menu...
