The Edits / Short Versions
How can they turn The name of the game into a 2.48 thing? Why did some people even bother cutting them down so harsh?

Personally, I hate edits. I can understand why some are done for single re-leases, but I never listen to them. To me, the songs are not complete. I can only imagine how TNOTG would sound cut so drastically :(

I understand it when they edit but not that harsh. I mean they lose too much of the original. If there is a clever way to do it, then its okay. :)

I'm in to minds about edits.
i know in some TV Shows For Instance The German Show ere they Preformed Cassandra, Under Attack and The Day Before You Came, all 3 songs were edited in some way and Under Attack had the Gold sudden ending, which I like.
Same as The Day Before You Came, and I know ABBA mixed at least 3 different versions of Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! A Man After Midnight.
One mix of course for the Video clip . Another for the Album And a third for TV program's
Some of them are pretty harsh, But a few of them are OK.

What is the 2:48 version on?
The worst one I've heard is the Mexican 45 of "The Visitors"
The best edit I've heard is the US Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, I think it was done well.
If anyone wants to hear them, just email me.

Can't stand the edits! Gimme back Eagle (complete version with guitar solo) and stop messing with The Name Of The Game! I love extended versions- in particular The Visitors, LAYLOM, On and ON And On, etc.
So, lets have all the missing verses, etc.
I DO understand why they do it sometimes as in Eagle for 'Gold', but I always liked Lasse Wellanders guitar solo.

I know, I have the Mexican 45 Of The Visitors and it's shocking.
Actually I have the complete Mexican 45's set on vinyl and Albums. I brought these of a RCA Mexican Rep. I also have a few singles doubled up as a couple of them are Promotional ones with press release's in them.

I guess they did it because on early CD-years there wasn´t enough place to put the complete song on it.
Of course I totally agree with you, I never would edit an ABBA song. I want to hear every single note from the beginning to the end! :D
