A for Agnetha
Hello everyone. Hope I'm not intruding on you good folk and people. Do you remember that some time in the past, I think maybe 1985 could have been later, Agneta released her album 'Eyes of a woman' a brilliant album. There was however a program called 'A For Agneta' the spell check has just picked me up on this I thought it was Agnetha. Anyway, does anyone know if its possible to get this production on video, dvd or other format. Thanks. No doubt you people will know :)

Hi monster!
So far no video's or other programmes by Agnetha have been released officially.
That is really a shame since she did several tv specials and many video's. Let's hope they will get released one day!
I myself have only seen parts of the A For Agnetha special thanks to good old YouTube!

Hi there,
I have the A For Agnetha show recorded in a home-made DVD (a kind friend of mine send it).
It's great to see some shots of Agnetha in Stockholm and the promo-videos for the Eyes Of A Woman album.
If you want it, we can make a swap for another show you have. Let me know.
Love,

Some pieces are on Youtube. Or at least were, I'm not sure if those videos also disappeared. Just some small scenes, but it definitely is taken from that programm some years ago. Release those shows would be great indeed, and all around the world of course, not only in Sweden.
Yes, it's still there: some small pieces!

I always thought this special was really depressing.
Agnetha looks as reclusive as during the shoots that were included in "The Winner Takes It All" and she talks about ABBA and fame with an undertone that you get the impression she had to suffer a lot.
What a conrast to the happy Agnetha that promoted "Wrap Your Arms Around Me" two years earlier and really delivered carefree performances of her songs.
The videos/performances are also not that great, Frida made two great videos for two songs from Shine a year before which were much better.
BTW, the programm was actually spelled "A for Agnetha" with no mistake as you can see here

I remember recording it on VHS at the time it was first aired here and I still have it. I found it very interesting at the time as it gave me a real insight into Agnetha's personality. She really is a deep thinker and someone who doesn't go for the shallowness of the music business. Her priorities are her family and she strikes me as someone with real integrity (rare nowadays what with the world and his brother selling their soul to the devil for a pittance, or rather the cover of 'Hello'.)
Yes, she comes across as quite introspective but also as someone who knows how to have fun, too. My favourite bit is where she is gently playing the piano wearing a plaid shirt and saying how she hates cocktail parties where everybody is making deals ('networking' I believe it's called these days) without really getting to know one another.

Hi
I love this special too but it is very 80's with the over the top outfits on some of the videos and at times it is very mellow compared to the sexy Agnetha we had two years previous with "Wrap your arms around me" and I can see why some fans find it depressing in parts.
At the end of the day it's just good to have a special for "Eyes of a woman" especially here in the UK, as usual there was no promotion for the album and singles released.
I too have it on DVD but remember when they aired the special in the UK it was shown in the early hours of the morning when most people are in bed, really bad timing. The album and singles had no chance of being a major success here.
"Eyes of a woman" is not rated highly by many ABBA fans but I do have great memories from 85 when it was released including the special and for that holds a soft spot for me.

Carribean is right. No official release, but there are some unofficial copies out there. (I've got one.)
I think the video clip story lines of many of those videos aren't exactly the cream of the crop. But I kind of liked her introverted appearance as it seems to show another side of her personality, as Joe has stated. Her promenade in the snow cold winter of Stockholm is just awesome.

That would be ABBA down under or the best of ABBA 1976.

I can remember having a copy Of A for ABBA but it was like a 5th generation copy of a copy, In other words Crap!
Crap I mean in the quality. I can't remember what the program was about, meaning what material was included.
Wasn't it a UK Special or something!
