The Writing/Poetry Thread!
Seeing as we were discussing it, I thought I might as well start a new thread about it.

If any of you guys want to read and vote for my poem, you can do so using the following link:

http://www.poetry.com/voteforme/poemvote1.asp?PID=11892960

The person with the highest overall score wins a prize! Maybe you guys can enter some of your poetry here too.

Thanks for the feedback girls! It's nice to think that other people can enjoy reading it.

I'll have to get to work on another one now *lol*
eddiefever - 08.04.2007, 15:34

 Yay!!!
can't wait for new poems

i made some poems to ,but they are on my pc ( am still doing all of this form my sisters pc ,my internet still doesn't work  )
besides they are not so good
you acn really tell it's amde by someone who isn't English or from the US :(
evenstar - 10.04.2007, 04:49

What does it matter if the english isn't perfect? Poetry is an expression of our personal thoughts and feelings, and it should only matter that it means something to you! :D

I just got an email from poetry.com informing me that I've been nominated in their "Poet of the Year" competition. They probably nominated everyone to convince them to fly to the conference in Las Vegas!
eddiefever - 14.04.2007, 20:23

wel your right ,ofcourse .
i'm just very perfectionistic when it comes to my art
which includes my paintings ,drawings and poetry !!
it's just me
i change my poems all the time
1 poem i changed so amny times that after a while it didn't even look like the poem i started with
it's that bad !!! :!:
evenstar - 16.04.2007, 05:11

Don't worry, I know just how you feel! I am a perfectionist as well. I still look at things that I did ages ago and get annoyed cos I think that I could have done it better!
eddiefever - 17.04.2007, 22:33

Exactly !!!
evenstar - 18.04.2007, 03:14

*lol* Anne, did you get a chance to read it yet?
mouseears89 - 20.04.2007, 17:45

Read your poem and voted Evanstar. :P When will you know if your the winner?? Keep us posted!!
enelya06 - 20.04.2007, 21:43

yes you'll have to let us know.
evenstar - 21.04.2007, 05:42

Thanks, Mouse! Unfortunately, I think it's actually a daily competition, so I don't think I have won anything. I'm still in the semi-finals of their amateur poetry competition though!
enelya06 - 23.04.2007, 14:28

glad you are still in the semi-finals - and please let us know...the outcome.
evenstar - 24.04.2007, 05:12

Will do. They keeping sending me emails inviting me to the annual convention in Las Vegas, so I can read my poem there. Even if I could afford to make the trip, I certainly wouldn't want to stand up in front of everybody to read it out!!
mouseears89 - 24.04.2007, 06:28

For your enjoyment:

The Death of a Daffodil

The death of a daffodil has meaningful sorrows.
The fear of petals lost,
Once filled with life.
Your sorrow fades to hope
That the day will last a little longer.
You feel your leaves falling over.
Sleep comes.
The death of a daffodil lingers
Over the endless earth.
mouseears89 - 24.04.2007, 06:39

Here's another. Please respect the author (me) and do not plagiarize. I have full copywrite on these.

Old Man

In the midst of the day
You kneel down before the cross.
You tell the cross your sorrows
And hope
They will become less painful,
In your few days left.

Old man,
Say not a word until you are asked.
You kneel down,
For the pebbles under you
Are wet with tears.

Old man,
Please don't say a word,
For tomorrow, you will still be here.
enelya06 - 24.04.2007, 13:50

those are lovely mouse thanks for sharing them.
enelya06 - 24.04.2007, 19:15

The Cookie Jar

There is a great big cookie jar
In the shape of a Bear
It’s always filled with special treats
My Aunt loves to share
.
Whenever I was at her house,
The first thing I would do
Is go straight to that cookie jar
And get a treat or two.

As the years past and I got older
Still I would go
To that great big cookie jar
Oh, how I loved it so.

The cookie jar’s now empty
For my Aunt was called back home
Even though I didn’t want her to go
My will was not “His” own

Even though I have fond memories
Of family who have gone before
Still nothing can compare to the love
That went in
To that great big cookie
jar.

I wrote this in memory of my Aunt who made the final journey last night.

mouseears89 - 25.04.2007, 05:13

Very sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing Enelya. She must have meant a lot to you for you to write such a beautiful poem about her. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. *****HUGS HUGS HUGS*****
enelya06 - 25.04.2007, 13:39

Thank you so very much mouse. She was a very special aunt who will be sorely missed. She has a son who is not doing well at all with this because none of us were expecting it....it just happened.

One of my fond memories of her is riding on the back of my cousins motorcycle and of the first time I made a blackberry cobbler pie. I really learned alot from her and had a lot of good times.
eddiefever - 26.04.2007, 20:00

aawww Nancy BIG HUG !!!
i'm so sorry to hear about your loss :(
i loved your poem ,it shows that it came from the heart
also my prayers go otu to you ,your family and to your ant ,that she may have found the way to God's Kingdom and be at peace :(

@mouse;i loved your poems ,specially Old Man :)
evenstar - 27.04.2007, 03:27

All of your poems were beautiful.
Very sorry to hear about your Aunt, Enelya!
mouseears89 - 27.04.2007, 06:19

Thanks Eddiefever!! It's very old- I wrote it in a long time ago. But it still brings back vivid memories. I'll have to find some others I've had published- but they are old too. I haven't written poetry for a while now since my obligations have changed. It's on my list of things to do when my little one goes to school. I have LOTS of things I want to revamp when she gets older and I have more time to myself.
enelya06 - 27.04.2007, 13:42

Thank you all my sisters for the prayers and thoughts during this difficult time. Yesterday was a sad day but my aunt is home now with the Lord and the rest who have gone before her. They all loved the poem - in fact mom's poem got read at her funeral. Shannon said she would sit the poem by the cookie jar. It brought back a lot of memories for us. I'm worn out but it's good to get back in the swing of things. My stomach stayed upset all night - I guess due to nerves.
eddiefever - 28.04.2007, 20:50

aawww *hugs nancy really tight*
and so symbolic to putt the poem next to the cookiejar
eddiefever - 29.04.2007, 12:49

finally after several hours searching in my Dutch and later in my English bible ,i found the small quote i was looking for
i gotta warn ya though ,it's written in old english language :)

John 5:24
verily ,verily ,I say unto you
He that heareth my Word and believeth on Him that sent me ,hath everlasting life ,and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life

i hope you like it Nancy
( i was looking for another 1 but couldn't find it so quick ,but will keep on looking for it :)
eddiefever - 29.04.2007, 12:53

here are some of my English poems

Final Goodbye

i look at my room 1 more time
and try to keep it as a picture in my mind
i wonder if i will ever see this place again
and if so ,than when?
a single tear runs from my right eye
it feels like a small part of my heart has just died
i turn around and close the door behind me
and locks the door with my remaining key
i lay the key under the mat so the new owners will have no trouble of finding it
while i am walking over the path in front of my house i feel like a flame in me is lit
like i'm destined to walk this path
that this loss an hurt is not gonna be so bad
i feel a power ,a light building inside my heart
like nothing can tear me apart
a thought comes to my mind that my future will be as large and ( tender) blue as the sky
i get in my car and look 1 more time and said my final goodbye

TRUE LOVE /Soulmates

i just got a phonecall
from someone i don't really know
he's telling me that my boyfriend has had an exident with his car
he doesn't have a drivers-licence
my heart is working overtimes
my head feels so heavy that i can't even keep my eyes open
there i go ,i'm losing my concionsness

i wake up and hope it was all a bad dream
why am i believing this from someone i don't really know?
but just in case i should call his cell
i don't get an answer
i keep on trying to get him on the line
my heart is racing again
i have to keep my self calm
it probebly is nothing
so i call his parends
i got his mom on the line
she says she hasn't seen him yet
i don't tell her what i've heard
i don't want to make her upset
when i don't even know it is true
maybe nothing happend and is it a bad joke
i'm walking to my house
it's just one block from where i am right now
my body freezes

there at the curve of my street stands a crassed car
it has crassed to a house when it was taking the curve
it's my boyfriends car
i don't see anybody standing beside it
but i see ppl of the ambulace
i see them taking a lifeless body into the ambulance
they are covering the body up
right before they have covered the body i see his face
it is my boyfriend
it doesn't hit me at that moment
my mother sees me standing and runs towards me
she puts her arms around me and says
"i tried to call me but the line was busy"
than it hits me , like a bullet
<my boyfriend is death>
my body is shaking and my head to
my heart is pounding so hard that it feels like it is going to explode
and than ,my body collaps
and i'm dead to
eddiefever - 29.04.2007, 13:00

IT TAKES SO LONG

my heart is dark and cold
my body feels like it is very old
i've been through alot these couple of years
i can't even cry anymore tears
i lost my parends ,brother and boyfriend
and now I"m still here waiting for my life to end
i'm so tired of waiting till my life is finally through
i even tried to end it myself 'cause i didn't know what to do
my life is useless without the ppl i love the most
without them i feel like a gost
so i would be better of death
but god isn't finnished with me yet
i still have to finnish the path god has choosen for me
untill than on earth will i be

hope you all liked it
i have 1 more ,but have to ask permission from soemone 1st
(i've posted it on Cc's board once ,but just in case i'll ask it again) :)
i'm not used to non- rhyming poems ,so i hoep you don't hate true love/soulmates :?
i made it to get rid of my feels of a friend of my cousin passing :(
evenstar - 30.04.2007, 05:49

These were very heartfelt. Eddiefever, I had no idea that you had been through so much!
enelya06 - 30.04.2007, 13:55

Those are very beautiful eddiesfever. Thank you for the verse and for sharing those lovely poems - you have a way with words too. We've got a lot of talent here.

I'm feeling better today - still feel a little drained but back in a better focus frame of mind. It is pretty here today - we had a beautiful weekend as well but I think some showers are supposed to try and move in towards the end of the week.
eddiefever - 01.05.2007, 22:06

@Nancy - i'm glad your feeling a bit better today ,HUGS !!!
i can tell ya 1 thing ,the loss will never be gone for 100% ,it can fade a bit ,but it will never vanish ,not when that someone has a place in your heart ,even if it's just a small place ,but we should be thankfull for that ,cause that means the person never will die ,cause they will always be rememebred and loved cause of that space they filled in our hearts :D

evenstar wrote: These were very heartfelt. Eddiefever, I had no idea that you had been through so much!

hahah
fortunatly i haven't bene through so much
i'm a very emotional person ,so when soemone talks to me about their problems ,i store it soemwhere and try to think of a solution ,or when there is no solution ,the p[ain and grief of that persons story gets to me ,and i have to write it down ,or else it will kepep eating me (= when i'm trying to solve their problem)
what can i say ,i love to help ppl
even if it's just making them smile
or encourage them
evenstar - 02.05.2007, 04:58

Ah, so it's not all written from personal experience? I'm glad to hear that!
enelya06 - 03.05.2007, 19:34

Thanks for the :D hugs eddiefever - I do feel better. It's good to get back into a routine of things and being busy like I've been had helped greatly.

It's a nasty rainy day here and tomorrow is the Oaks then Sat the Derby! I'm so glad I'll have very little dealings with the traffic (except for around the university).

I'm sleepy and will be so glad when I can go home and go to bed. We're supposed to have nasty weather right up through Sunday

i haven't gone through a lot of bad thinsg in my life just yet
but you never knwow hat's coming on your path ,but i know i'll face them
it's all part of Learning and part of Life :D

ENJOY !!!
when you feel stuck 07-05-2007

do not dispaire
and when you are already there
remember it is never to late
to re-new theye faith
strength will flow through your blood
and you will know you didn't recieve God's rod
that all obstacles from God have reason's
like even the seasons
winter ,summer ,spring and fall
so don't forget who you should call
when life is treathing you a bit to rough
Pray to your Father up above
He will guide you through the rest of your way
and will make the the sun sine bright again ,from this day
enelya06 - 07.05.2007, 22:25

Oh thanks so much Eddiefever - it is beautiful.

Getting ready to leave out but will be back on line tomorrow am.

I've been off and on so much today I feel like a light switch  it's slowing down here at work with the end of the semester so I should have more time to get on line.

@ Nancy ,i'm glad that the end of the Semester is near ,than you finally have some more time to relax ,btw do you also have vacation when school ends? i mean from this job ,not the other

PS ,i've shown some poems ,now who's gonna be next :P
enelya06 - 09.05.2007, 20:00

nope even though the semester ends we've still got to be here :x but it's not too bad. I can pretty much take vacation whenever. The best time is from July 24 to August 24 that is our longest break inbetween semesters. The summer semester starts next monday and ends July 24.

The plumbers are supposed to come today to check things out - I know I'll have to be off when they do the work - don't want to leave mom there by herself. See I walk around with them and ask specific questions. Just talked to mom, they were already supposed to be there but are not there yet. They were recommended by a neighbor. I told her to give them a call. I'm thinking about going home to be there when and if they get there. If that makes sense.
eddiefever - 10.05.2007, 20:17

ooh it made sence
hope they will still show up
cause sometimes :x ppl forget apointments
even when they get payed for it

to bad you ahve to stay and work at school while the rest has vacation ,but it's good that you still can have a big vacation when the students have Summer-vacation :D
enelya06 - 10.05.2007, 20:48

yes Linda and I get 6 weeks vacation each year from U of L and we can accumulate all the sick time we want. The funny thing with vacation time is this. If you hit your 6 weeks, you don't acrue anymore until you take a week. You can only have those 6 weeks then too we get off a week at Christmas as if the university has to close for bad weather - we get administrative time off (we don't have to use or vacation or sick time) Not bad.

Oh the plumbers got there and fixed the toilet. They said the stain on the ceiling was dry and looks like it could have been there from when we moved in - they said just keep an eye on it.
eddiefever - 12.05.2007, 19:28

Good to hear about the plummers
and Wow ,you got a good deal with the school
wish i had so much free days :D
enelya06 - 14.05.2007, 14:07

It is nice to have those days. Wish we could accumulate vacation time like we do sick time. (there is no limit to sick time).

Well it's Monday again and the first day of the Summer Semester. No one is here but me :) My co-worker has to pick up her car this am so she told me Friday she'd be late. Maybe the summer semester will be quite.....I sure hope so.

Need to do a few things - will be back a little later.
eddiefever - 14.05.2007, 19:03

8)
glad it was a bit quiet today :D
enelya06 - 14.05.2007, 19:56

well it has been a so so day. Mainly professors - not students....for the first day of classes - it's been exceptionally calm (now watch it will get real busy).
eddiefever - 15.05.2007, 20:20

ooh really ?
i don't no nothing about US schools as you probebly noticed
wel good luck when it does get busy :?
enelya06 - 15.05.2007, 21:04

Today was a little crazy - one of the professors forgot his class started at 1 and all his students showed up but he didn't. Talk about absent minded professors

But seriously it's not been bad just wish I could run away I've felt so bad - I went to bed at 7 last night - put in Dreamkeeper so I could "dream" about a few  in fact I went to sleep listening to it. When I feel bad I short of shut down so to speak. Lite some of my sweetgrass and drifted off into the 1800's.
n2thawestfan - 31.10.2007, 07:12

TWAS the NIGHT BEFORE HALLOWEEN

'Twas the night before Halloween, the scariest by most

All the monsters were stirring, even Casper, the friendly Ghost

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care

In hopes that the Great Pumpkin will soon be there

The tiny children were wide awake, shivering in their beds

While apparitions of giggling ghosts danced around their heads

Mama, with her mouth wide open

And I, with my eyes bugged out

We huddled close together, as the night's chill made us shiver about

Amongst the shadows, there rose a clatter

I cowered deeper into the covers, but mama urged me to see what was the matter

Steathily, I started with a flash

Quietly peeking behind the curtains, I didn't bat a lash

The moon, smiling brightly across the sky

Upon the shadows, a glowing figure crept by

To my surprise, my curious eyes should bulge with dread

But a spooky carriage, with eight tiny goblins in the lead

With a jack-o-lantern as the driver, with a blazing candle within

I knew for a second it was the Great Pumpkin

Faster than the wind his minions they came

As he moaned, and cackled, and called them by name

"Now, Ogey! now Bogey! now Blyx and Styx!

On Deimos! on Phobos! on Bloodstone and Onyx!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now please, please, don't you dare fall!"

As dead leaves that before the wild whirlwind fly

When they meet with an obstacle, rise to the sky

Upon the house top the goblins they flew

With the ghastly carriage full of ghastly goodies, and the Great Pumpkin too

And then, in a shimmering, I heard upon the roof

The pitter patter of each little, cloven hoof

As I drew back my head, and was turning around

Down the chimney the Great Pumpkin came with a ghostly sound

He was dressed all in orange, from head to foot

And his suit was blackened, completely in soot

A bundle of tricks and treats he flung across his back

He looked like the Grim Reaper, with his scythe about to hack

His eyes, cold and dark -- how they glinted! his smile how bony!

His cheeks were hollow, his nose so cold and stony!

His wide mouth was drawn into an evil curl

His chin, rounded and smooth as a girl's

He had no tongue, he only had teeth

The moss about his head, a moldy, little wreath

His belly, empty and small

His chest was frail, like a poster on a wall

He was thin, wiry and small in size

I watched him stumble, as he looked into my eyes

With a wink in his eye and a crack of his head

I swear I can hear the wind outside go dead

He spoke not a word, but went to his work

And filled the stockings; then turned with a jerk

And placing a bony finger upon his nose

And shrieking a silent laugh, up the chimney he rose

He sprang to the carriage, to the minions he gave a howl

And away they all flew like a griffon, ready to prowl

But I heard him shout, as he sped out of sight

Happy Halloween to all, and to all a good fright!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Thx^^ this is beautiful. Can't wait until tonight when all the children come for trick or treats^^
enelya06 - 31.10.2007, 14:05

I like this one - thanks for sharing it.

I have to work tonight so I won't be able to give out candy at home but the Malls have trick or treat. I guess Keri can give out the candy tonight.

I wrote this one when I had to explain to my son, why his grandfathers skin is darker then his.
Translated from dutch to english.

Children en Adults

Humanity is a mix of different colors.
Brown married to white and black with yellow.
That gives complications,
It doesn't go together that well in our society.

I wish everybody had the same thoughts as my sweet son.
He only has simple wishes.

There are only 2 races:

Children and Adults

Idols

Idols often don't know how lucky they are,
Thousands of fans, who love them,
But still,
There's a sadness in their eyes..
They suffer
Maybe even more then you think.

4 years ago my grandfather died and this is what I've wrote for him.

Forever
in my thoughts

Forever
in my heart

Forever
loving you

Forever
seeing you smile

Forever
feel your strength

You are in my heart
Forever!

Today I've wanted to see the tree again
As beautiful as it gets in spring.
Flowers start to blossom and it's a fact
Spring is too short.

For a short while you can enjoy
the silent beauty.

Flowers moving in the soft breeze and
people breathing the fresh spring air.

A new season gives courage,

Wow, these are beautiful. I just heard some sad news this morning and I find poetry such a comfort during such times.
enelya06 - 01.11.2007, 04:38

Well, it was the best I can do. Besides, I was "dying" to write it anyway! :?

I had so much planned for Halloween...including going to a haunted cemetary at midnight. We got there beforehand, so it was worth going to it!

That's the artist-ego. always tell what you do is sh**. I got it myself when I draw. But don't worry, when it comes from your heart it is beautiful.

Liadan wrote: That's the artist-ego. always tell what you do is sh**. I got it myself when I draw. But don't worry, when it comes from your heart it is beautiful.

oh yes I agree anything that comes from the heart is beautiful. I've got a poem I need to look back through this topic to make sure I've not already posted it. My mom writes beautiful poetry and I've done ok with it from time time. Now I love to write stories
Liadan - 01.11.2007, 18:53

I also like writing stories. But they all have to do with my friends and how we would behave meeting a special band or living on Atlantis (from Stargate). I would never post them because I am not really a fan of fanfiction, my stories are just about me and my friends.
Wait, one of my story has been published in a book. though it's in english it has been released only in Germany. It was a competition "short stories for long moments of peace". I wonder where I put it. When I've found it I'll post it in here, I promise^^ (did I mix the tenses?)
enelya06 - 01.11.2007, 19:47

not at all did you mix the tenses - I'm looking foward to reading it. My stories have to do with LOTR.

Boy is my right arm starting to hurt - they told us to exercise it to keep it from getting real stiff and message the area where we got our shots.
eddiefever - 01.11.2007, 20:18

i'd love to read it to ,Liadan :D
i love fan-fics & ofcourse poems to
am addicted to writing ,although i'm really not good at it ( and not it's not just my artist-ego speaking  )
yet i still do it ,cause it relaxes me

i haven't written anything in a while though
been having some bad writersblock
which i'm hoping to get rid of again

but here are 2 oldies
they are very different than my other poems
i'm stil experimenting on which way i like to write my poems

To Much 22-06-2007

My Love
it's like a balloon
it gets filled more & more
at the same time it gets higher & higher
till it's to full & bursts
than it slowely goes down
until it demolished & dissapears
fade out

evolving love

it started with a wink & a smile
an accidental touch after a while
later a sweet Hello & How do you do?
with a reply of I'm fine & how are you?
than a touch that everyone could see
that ended with not one kiss ,but three
walking hand in hand
2 united as 1 they now stand
nothing can tear them apart
cause they beat as/like One Heart

with the '/' sign you can choose
cause i couldn't decide :D
eddiefever - 01.11.2007, 20:24

this one i made in May of this year
it's been made with 1 kind of rhyming
was my 1st try on that
hope you'll enjoy :D

Price of Love

She's laying in her bed
looking at what she had accomplished today

holding her new born baby safe in her arms
for all the emotions she's feeling are no words needed to say

her husband is standing beside her ,
he knew what's next to happen this day

the angels were calling her and she knew she had to go with them ,
God was the one who hold sway

he cried and begged her to fight ,"PLZ ,try to stay"

,but she had known the risks of having this baby,
it was the price she was willing to pay

the price was to high for him ,cause he always thought she was always going to be with him
,but he knew that this was going to be her last day

she smiled & kissed him 1 last time and said:
i will keep the promiss that i made on our wedding day

"for forever and a day
now promiss me you will rely on God ,that you won't stray"

he nodded, "i promiss ,and also will teach our daughter how to pray"

she smiled and looked above once again , "i have to go now",
i can no longer stay

she gave 1 more glance to her child , carressed her tiny hand
and passed away
enelya06 - 01.11.2007, 22:03

I think Laidan meant that everybody says their own work is sh*t, when others say it's beautiful

Hope I said that right, LOL.
newnativspirit - 03.11.2007, 10:02

yes, I think that´s what she was trying to say.

we all are talented in some way !!! I can write funny poems for b-day cards and stuff, therefor my family is asking me for things like that all the time - plus I´m good in drawing funny cartoons, so I create my own cards lots of times - oh well, if time permits ...

I´m not good in writing serious poems ... I read them and do like them, but words like this are not coming to my mind at all.

I´m sure we have only talented people here on the board ( you don´t know it, but I made a "talent-check" when you registrated - har, har, har  ) - just kidding
Liadan - 03.11.2007, 11:42

thx Nancy & Liadan :D
it makes my day that you girls liked it

here's a new poem that i made today
i was inspired by the loss of my grandmother
who passed away last thursday
i hope you girls will like this one to
i'm also going to give it to her before she gets burried

PS: this was the grandmother that almost died in March
than it wasn't her time yet. now it was
this poem shows how i feel about losing her (and am hoping the rest of the family does as wel :) )

At Peace With Destiny 04-11-2007
(Dedicated To My Grandmother & all my other lovedones who passed away)

follow the light to where it may lead
where you go there is no need to breath
for you there is no more Pain & no more Sadness
all that you feel is Peace ,Love & Gladness
Glad to be healed & whole once more
(ofcourse) our hearts now feel sore
because a long time will pass before we see you again
we hope that you will wait for us till then
our hearts are also filled with Peace & Love
cause we know you are watching over us from above

Love ,Melissa
newnativspirit - 04.11.2007, 17:42

I´m sorry to hear that your grandmother passed away! Hope you are doing fine ...

it´s a wonderful poem ...
Liadan - 04.11.2007, 19:25

I love the poem very, very much. Makes me think about my grandmother who passed aways years ago
eddiefever - 04.11.2007, 19:42

aww ,Hugs
thx girls
i'm doing fine

i'm glad you liked it.
this poem already is 1 of my fav poems made by myself
cause it is made from the heart.
i'm a bit doubtfull
i'm not sure if i should show the poem to my ants & cousins.
cause they might want me to read it outloud at the ceremony
which i definatly don't want to do
they've already asked me to read the speech that they've ( and i) made
which i declined
enelya06 - 05.11.2007, 03:20

Oh Eddiefever - many hugs and prayers going up for you and your family.

Russian is very hard. My mother learned it at school. But considering your talent it won't be a big problem for you^^

Scottish is similar to Irish...due to the fact that both the Scots and the Irish came from the same Celtic cloth...well, uh, somewhat! :? Manx also belongs in that category...but it's nearly an extinct language, but it's spoken in the small rural communities on the Isle of Man.

As if you haven't found out via evenstar: I love hard...well, as in the challenge of all things.  :D :D Now you're gonna make me blush!  Stoppit! :sticks tongue out:

Wow, I'm really impressed with the both of you "language masters"! I really want to learn Italian. It sounds so beautiful and melodic to me.

Tish, I knew you spoke a lot of languages, but even I didn't realise it was THAT many! Hey, if anybody can learn a language like Russian then I'm sure it's you! :P

Yeah, I've heard that the Scots were an Irish tribe (courtesy of Billy Connolly) *lol*

lol, don't let them hear that^^. Irish and scottish descent from the celtic tribes. They develpoed themselves totally independent from each other - well disregarding the many fights they had.

Hey, did you know that Russia has got it's name from a viking tribe called Rus? Not surprising when you know the russian mentality^^

Well...she is! :D I'm not...honest! :? But also remember this: Italian, Spanish & French all fall under the Romance languages. You can cuss somebody out in any of these languages...& they think you're saying smthn "romantic" to them!  It's rather ridiculous if you ask me!  But Italian is beautiful and melodic. :)

In regards to the Scots and the Irish: they do come from the same mold, but they're different in some ways. I found that out when I found out when I discovered I have both Scottish and Irish in me! :!:

So you like Billy Connolly eh evenstar? I like him too. He's downright hilarious!

I'm in agreement w/ you Liadan! They still don't like the fact they're "relatives" in a sense. It's like that w/ the Hispanics. So much w/ ethnic pride!

In terms of the Russians...yes, I knew that. I happen to be childlike when it comes to learning anything...well, when it comes to anything that's worth learning anyway. I'm to the point where anything that's American anymore...I'm not to big on learning anymore...especially the fallacies, blunders, major errors, lies, etc.

A poem from someone I know:

Meat

May i introduce myself with upmost shame,
i am a human, a creature who is to blame.
For an eternity of bloodshed and blind rampage,
for destroying, raping, killing in a greedy rage

May i introduce myself and begin to tell,
how our race has digged their way to hell.
For an abundance of food that wastefully rots,
In corners of the world where people have lots.

May i introduce those, who suffer and die,
who do not speak, corrupt and spread a lie.
Who must watch how their own children sufficate
As we steal their world and determen their fate.

May i introduce the lion who dies of thirst,
the child with no eyes, the flies had them first
The ape who eats her own hand in endless dispare
so she can bleed to death under her baby's stare

May i introduce the pig who had never seen light
captured in breedfarms because we find it right
that they need only one meter to move around
Ignoring the intellect and ignoring their ground.

May i introduce myself, althou i feel a bit sad
knowing too many dont care and have gone mad
Eating away untill their stomachs finally burst
Forgetting it was the ape who walked here first

As I read the word "viking" aslo only discribes the people from norse who travelled at the sea. The rest who stayed at home where all called north men. But I think these terms got mixed in history so noone really can say who is who. That's the same with pirate and freebooter^^

SILENCE

Hushed, sweet

Of a lover's heart, it speaks

Monotones of the wind softly kiss my cheek

As I sit in the sadness of it all

Peace comes to me at last

The sorrows I cried now come to pass

My dreams suddenly come to life

As I sleep without destraction or despair

I can hear the deafness of its language

Creeping amongst the shadows of the night

The power of its speech, so stealth and catlike

That seductively sings amongst the birds of day

Calm washes waves o'er me

Like a tide, upon the dry shore of my soul

Purified by its cool pour, refreshed

I now drift away into the bliss of this unmoving pond

O dear, sweet silence

I cry out to you even more now

As I listen to the words you whisper in my ear

In your arms, I now am comforted

HIS KISS

Wet to touch

Soft to feel

Tender and sweet

Succulent to taste

Deep, strong

Silent moans escape from me

Skin to skin, are we

Hunger races in my sanguined veins

Fire burns my heart

Into a flame, charred with desire

Falling, falling, under his spell

I am now his to take

Gripping, holding tight

The language of his mouth speaks to mine

Descending, upon the bed - down, down

I can't either think or feel

Lost in the moment

Trapped in his embrace

His slave to love, I become

Fair game am I to him

Addiction is my poison

Of his lips, he is my pusher

Withdrawal will be my downfall

As I crave more of his kiss

Sorry for this bein' a bit too erotic! It just came out like that...yeah, that's the ticket! :D

Err  ...ummm  ...yeah, I have! :?

I can't stand what Disney has done...as far as sugar coating Grimms' Fairytales, Hans Christian Andersen's fairytales and all that jazz!

When I did a powerpoint presentation for an upper division Religion course last year (2K6), I chose to do the Brothers Grimm as an intense study/debunking project. When I researched everything - and I DO MEAN EVERYTHING - I found a lot of information, facts and figures, etc. in regards to fairytales and other stuff. Now, the course was an hr. and 45 min. long. I took the ENTIRE class length to present this presentation. And to much of MY surprise...no one HAD questions to ask...which I'm STILL shocked about! I got an "A" on it!

Speakin' of Disney: that man was conservative and steered away from the real translation of the fairytales the Brothers Grimm wrote about.

Ah, here's a tidbit: did you the first Cinderella fairytale came from ancient China? I had 2 "educated fools" tried to tell me that it came from France, but I showed them off and presented the evidence that it originally came from China. That shut them up reeeyaaal quicklike. Man, I love schoolin' idiots! :D

I love fairytales. And i like both: the disney ones and the real Grimm's. Did you watch the Snowwhite movie with Sigourney Weaver? it was much more to the Grimm's than to Disney and it scared me to death when I watched it the first time. not the movie but the baby she gave birth to and burned it later.
It's also very interesting that many of the fairytales/legends/myth exist in different cultures so it is not very easy to find out where it existed first. I didn't know Cinderrella was in China first? really? that's cool... That's a topic I could talk about over hours^^

I LOVE the Grimm fairytales the most. I don't know you know this, but they were written to entertain women...not children! The real reason why children were told them was the fact that the froo froo ones from France and other places took the "darkness" out of them they perceived them.

To answer your question: I don't remember seeing it. I'm not really a Sigourney Weaver fan, but it sounds like it's a real treat to watch.

As to the last paragraph you stated: so true! It's like a spider web...with the interconnectivity of all things. This is what I find interesting and soothing to know. As for ancient human history (current history included), mysteries will always be around...regardless how "evolved" and[post]modern we are...period! They are the very element that makes life interesting. :D

Did you ever watch the russian fairytales? also the Czech did many of them. They relate to the Grimm's fairytales too. I found a lot of books on their fairytales...and other interpretations of their fairytales on Amazon. That's my cyberhome for finding cerebral subjects such as this.  :D :D

As far as Sigourney Weaver goes, I did like her role in Galaxy Quest. It's a hilarious movie...especially Enrico Colantoni's role ("you are our last hope.") He was a scream!

Now, I did see the Russian fairytales...and was amazed. Just an educational tidbit: Germans emigrated to Russian in the 17th & 18th centuries...through a decree by Catherine the Great...who was German herself! Then through her rule of terror and broken promises, a lot emigrated to the United States in the late 19th centuries - to Pennsylvania, South Dakota, North Dakota...and my homestate of Kansas. They first stayed in the state capital of Topeka for a few months, then settled into western Kansan cities...such as Liberal and Russell, Kansas. This, too, I found out through my intense research for another course I chose to embark on...which was an enlightening journey of knowledge I must say! :D I won't get into the WWII stuff about the German-Americans and the hatred they got from the United States government. It breaks my heart talking about it!

Hey Tish, thanks for the compliment. Actually, I find pretty much everything you talk about to be interesting - I could never get bored chatting with you!

Liadan, I agree with what you said about not condemning people because of their nationality. I'm a believer that people should only be held accountable for their own actions anyway, so it's sad that people still see things that way. I actually only recently learned that he was Austrian (not that it matters, but I found it interesting). Anyway, I shouldn't say that too loudly, as I work for an Austrian company!

I have the most fun w/ upper division courses, due to the fact that you don't have to hear the same basic stuff you'll have to listen and redigest the same crap in the lower division courses that you've learned in HS...which I recommend using an alarm clock to wake me up from the ennui I experience in the Level 100 courses! *snore snore*

Well, uh thanks...I think. :? I meant every word I said. :? Besides, I never knew everything I flap my gums about was interesting...well, to ppl like you anyway. But then again...we're alike in many ways. :D

SAD DECEMBER

I know of its pain

This sad December

So lonely, so distant

As I can remember

The grief, as snow

Quietly falling, I come to know

Dead trees, bowing in a row

Of their wooden sympathy, they humbly show

A frozen heart, it beats coldly

Of its wailing cry, sounding boldly

The gray sky, hiding the smile

Of a hidden sun all the while

I know of its loneliness

This sad December

As long as I am here

As long as I can remember
Liadan - 07.12.2007, 21:21

the poem is so beautiful... like it.

Quote: Much to my chagrin and hatred of the American government: Yes, they were...and so were the Italians! American history books only mentions the internment of the Japanese...and not of the Germans and the Italians. So much we've left out foolishly and blindly!

At least there are some people like you. So you can avoid that at least the people around you do the same mistakes. A bit hope is left^^
there are not many young germans who are interested in our history -that's stupid because I believe that we all have to learn from it and won't do the same sh** again.

Beautiful poem, Tisha...

Shux! Thanks...I think! I tried my best u know! :?

But you're absolutely right of what you've mentioned! And yes...I can avoid those who make the same mistakes...on purpose that is. Yes, I said that. They do the same sh** on purpose. And they wonder why I don't want nada to do w/ them. Hmmmmmm! Think about it!

It's a shame that younger generations don't wanna learn the history that we learned in school either. I mean, it's a must. But like the wise maxim goes: "Those who don't learn about the past are doomed to repeat it." And that's true. And it's not just the U.S. either! It's everywhere!

I'm really interested in your pomes - just go eaheadposting them^^

in Russia they say: "There is no future without the past". - very short and pithy.
Soccer_lady - 08.12.2007, 23:02

Very short, but everybody knows what it means.
Came to mind after my daughter was born.

2 hearts, 1 love
1 love, 1 heart.

Uh, who said poems couldn't be short and sweet? Not I! You couldn'tve said it better here...really! True...and beautiful, I must say!

You're reeeeaaaaallly asking for it...aren't cha? Now, I wrote one that's kinda erotic...and I do mean erotic! Do you reeeaaallly want me to post it here? :?: Think about it for a minute...please! :?

In regards to that maxim: it's sooooo true! Everything has to come to a full circle in order for lessons to be learned...and I do mean everything!
n2thawestfan - 09.12.2007, 14:50

Since Liadan seems to be the "community" forum town crier here, here's a non-erotic poem I just written! Tell me what all of you think who do incline to read my "blah blah blahs." Enjoy!

PERSEPHONE'S SONG

Now the time has come

I must leave you now

In the chilling Autumn wind

You'll hear me say goodbye

It wasn't that long ago

Amongst the summer flowers, I played

I now look back to those happy memories

All those times I spent with you

Only a second, it took

You left me alone; he, with a lustful look

Stolen away and into the dark

Into his world, the sweetness of I tasted so foolishly

Now the time has come

I must go to him, my dark prince

Into his world, I must leave you, Mother

I'll have to say goodbye to you

Well, I got no problems with "reeeaaallly erotic" poems. but I don'r know if Anne is - I mean it is her messageboard and she may keep it for general audience^^. But I myself would like to read them.

wel on the other forum DofA made a topic about this ,which i replied to
here's what she said:
Someone on the other board tried to say that I'm n2thawestfan! Just to clear things up, I am not n2thawestfan. She and I are not the same person. I know her, but that doesn't mean she and I are the same person. I will clarify things up, I'm not her. The poems she posted here and on the other board are the same; I just gave her permission to post them there. I do apologize for that misconception...I really do! Sorry guys!

i noticed that you BOTH claim that you've given The OTHER permission for posting the poem

something else doesn't add up either

she said and i quote: the poems SHE (N2thawestfan) posted on HERE (spears-freeweb) and on The OTHER (NewNativeSpirit) board are the same

i don't care who's who & if your the same or not.
i just want the 'right' person to get credit for the poems ,cause they are good poems.
so who ever made it deserves the credits.
the one who didn't ,doesn't.
that't all

Then why are you makin' a big deal out of it? It seems that you're the only one who's making a fuss out of it! No one else is, so why you? From now on, no more will be posted here, so the one that's posted here will be the last! Besides, I don't see any copyright laws in regards to poems no how!

I won't post them here, for the sake of Anne's reputation and demeanor. I'll be happy 2 pm that one to you...if you wish!

As a rank? I don't see the harm in that. But...take off the honorary. The rest will do just fine!
