BUSINESS SUMMARY:
OMNI Energy Services Corp. operates as an integrated oilfield service company in the United States. The company operates in the marsh, swamp, shallow water, and contiguous dry land areas along the Gulf Coast, primarily in Louisiana and Texas. It also owns and operates a fleet of seismic drilling and transportation equipment to provide a range of seismic drilling, permitting, and survey services. In addition, OMNI Energy Services provides dock-side, and offshore hazardous and nonhazardous oilfield waste management; environmental cleaning services, including drilling rig, tank and vessel cleaning, safe vessel entry, naturally occurring radioactive material decontamination, platform abandonment services, pipeline flushing, gas dehydration, and hydro blasting; transportation and disposal of nonhazardous oilfield byproducts; and maintenance and safety-related products and services. The company also offers rental equipment and specialized environmental services principally to drilling contractors operating in the Gulf of Mexico. It provides a fleet of rental equipment, including pressure washers, reverse osmosis machines, and steam cleaners; and wellhead installation, stress relieving services, and environmental pit cleaning services to drilling contractors. Further, OMNI Energy Services provides employee leasing services. The company, formerly known as OMNI Drilling Corporation, was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Carencro, Louisiana.

Omni Energy Services 4Q Income From Continuing Operations Rises Sharply on Tax Benefit
CARENCRO, La. (AP) -- Oilfield service company Omni Energy Services Inc. said Thursday fourth-quarter income from continuing operations jumped, as an income tax benefit helped offset a seasonally slower period.
Quarterly earnings from continuing operations increased to $6.8 million, or 27 cents per share, from $500,000, or 3 cents per share during the same period in 2005. The results included an income tax benefit of $4.6 million. Excluding that item, the company earned $2.1 million from continuing operations. In the 2005 period, Omni had 36 percent fewer shares outstanding.
Omni Energy Services Vice President G. Darcy Klug said the company released only selected fourth-quarter results ahead of filing its annual report with regulators on Friday.
Quarterly revenue more than doubled to $26.2 million from $11.1 million during the same period a year earlier.
The company said while its results in the period reflected gains, the fourth quarter usually stands as one its weakest, due to shorter workdays, permit delays and poor offshore weather.
In the fiscal year, Omni Energy Services swung to a profit, recording net income for common shareholders of $20.9 million, or 89 cents per share, compared with a loss of $5.3 million, or 38 cents per share in 2005. Revenue jumped more than double to $99 million from $43.4 million.
Shares of Omni Energy Services rose a penny to $9.87 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.
