Can he sing?
Have they announced who will play Sophie? I suggest Mandy Moore. As she matured, her voice got super. I keep listening for a little Agnetha in her tones.

Swedish press suggests that Amanda Seyfried (known from movie Mean girls) would play Sophie. But this has NOT been confirmed.

Now it looks like Amanda Seyfried WILL play Sophie as several papers are writing about it.

Can she sing?
Amanda Seyfried's probably less expensive than Mandy (Amanda) Moore, who's a hot property after her recent movie with Diane Keaton. Moore's a fantastic singer.
I understand that Streep wanted to do this movie, so her price was right. Pierce Brosnan is getting old too and probably needs work.
I wonder if Bjorn gets to approve the cast?

Thanks for alerting us Cronus. Looks like they are truly going for a big name cast.
Pierce Brosnan certainly looks the part, as for whether he can sing, maybe he can hold a note or two and surprise us, but it's the women's roles that have the more powerful and memorable songs so maybe it's not that important.... .....I am curious about who will take over the comic role...Toni Collette? Bette Midler? Joanna Lumley?

I really hope Bette Midler will get the part of Rosie, or Tanya for that matter.

Just read the interview with Pierce Brosnan, I think another ABBA Fan, He took his family to see the show he was approached to play Sam and Jumped at the chance to work with Meryl Streep.
He was quoted as saying "It dosen't get any better working with Meryl On a Greek Island and singing ABBA songs."
I checked out his official site but it's not up to date there yet.
I think he and Meryl will be good together, I wonder if Tom Hanks will be another one of the Fathers?
If not Who would you like to play the other two.

Meryl Streep is still somehow OK for such a movie, but Pierce Brosnan. Will those two sing SOS under a Grecian moonlight and then make love in a hammock? And in the next scene Brosnan will shoot the next father candidate and escape in a specially made helicopter with Meryl hanging on a wire? LOL! LOL!
It gets worse each time I hear about this Mamma Mia! movie!

Hi Anne,
Personally I think Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan are fine actors and there is a good possibility they might surprise us with a entertaining film. But I must say that comment was pretty funny.

Now I know who "M" is, it's a "Mamma", hehe, I was of the thought the film might not work, but with these actors who have signed up, this is going to be a smash!
Shall we all go to Mykonos or wherever they plan to film it, and be extras? Imagine that, REAL ABBA fans as extras in the Mamma Mia! Movie!
You won't get me off Super Paradise though for long, sunning my self for that essential "all over tan", imagine the buzz at night in Mykonos town during filming. The Devil Wears Prada in Mykonos, wowee!
Diego :D :D

Meryl is great. Pierce isn't: except for James Bond he has been in to much B movies.

i agree with Merton. the men sing little compared to the women. (thank-you for the Music, SOS). and I have been pushing Joanne Lumley since i first heard of the movie. They must have had her in mind when they created Tanya.
