An Abba dictionnary
Would you buy an ABBA dictionnary including the definition of every products (albums, songs, books, DVD, VHS, etc), members in their solo carreer and musicals as well as a definition for each member of the group and every poeple who worked, from near or far, with Abba or one of its member? An average of 1500 definitions.
johnny59 - 25.02.2007, 00:20

It depends on the price, most likely.

Have you got such a project on your plate?
Saltamus - 25.02.2007, 03:10

The project is already finished (a very very very big work) since last summer and I actually try to found an edition house for the moment.
Maxi-saxi - 25.02.2007, 05:44

Same here it would depend on the price.

Wow! Sounds thrilling! Is there an entry for "Johnny = Agnetha's biggest fan?"

Saltamus - 25.02.2007, 15:41

The question is just to know if this kind of Abba book seems interesting for Abba fans. The Beatles and Presley have their dictionnary, so why not the third best seller!

I contacted Benny and Bjorn last fall and they said that they don't have the time for another project and - through their answer - they told me this : "we are very impressed with the hard work you spend on your dictionnary but you probably know that Carl Magnus Palm has already made a book on all the recordings of Abba.

But my project isn't only about Abba but also Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn, Frida, Bjorn & Benny, Mamma Mia, Kristina, Chess, etc. So, I continue to search even if I haven't the Abba support.

As a traditionnal dictionnary, it is divised in two parts, total of 1500 definitions : 300 proper nouns (Polar team, musicians, studios, solo producers, Abba's children, etc.) and 1200 products (songs, albums, VHS, DVD, tours, musicals, movies, special tv shows, etc.).

Thank you to answer me.
Polargirl - 25.02.2007, 17:38

An interesting concept. I would have to browse through it before deciding whether to buy it or not. Its hard to come up with original ideas for new books I guess. I have always wanted to see an ABBA book that concentrated solely on the Australian tour and that part of their careers. :D
Fire&Ice - 25.02.2007, 18:45

I wouldn't be interested in Christina, Chess, MM! etc, only ABBA + its esteemed members. I would like the ABBA name to remain just ABBA.
If I were interested in BB work first and foremost, then I'd accept all these things including ABBA but no thanks. Only ABBA for me.

Oh, the book would have to have a plenitude of new, previously unseen pictures of ABBA of course.
jacko10 - 25.02.2007, 18:49

I would be interested but as others has said , it depends on the cost

Jack
edwinwilde - 26.02.2007, 00:11

I love that idea, it's so great. I would buy it.

Yes... o yes!

MarryMeAgnetha - 26.02.2007, 01:25

I'd most likely buy it if the cost were reasonble.

Regards johnsteven
iancee - 26.02.2007, 04:55

That sounds like an interesting addition to the ABBA bibliography. Good luck!
de solere - 26.02.2007, 11:44
an abba dictionnary
Hello Saltamus,
It seems really fantastic; You know before to read your topic, i am going to the fnac shop to see if they have now some books about abba or frida (by JM Pottiez for example) and i find many things about the beatles, u2, Elvis, the clash etc and nothing about abba.
I hope for you and the hard work you makes that you will find an editor.
Your project is personnal and original, that's a good idea and of course, i will buy your dictionnary.

drimnagh - 13.03.2007, 15:05

If there IS an entry for 'Agnetha's Biggest Fan' it will read.. 'Joseph: residence: England', and that is beyond question!

Joe :rotfl:
drimnagh - 13.03.2007, 15:10

An ABBA A-Z would be cool but as Ivana said, I'd only really be interested if it contained lots of previously unpublished ABBA pictures. (And Agnetha's hair and toenail clippings, etc  :rotfl:)

WATERL00 - 13.03.2007, 18:24

I would buy it especially if it includes information about the girls' solo-stuff since nearly nothing is available about their solo-careers.
MarryMeAgnetha - 14.03.2007, 08:12

Saltamus,

Looks like the fans are showing some real interest in the project, so I hope it works out for you.

Once you get a publisher, you might want to hold off on the actual publishing date until Agnetha and I are married. Since you're putting out a fully up-to-date edition, you may as well include everything, right?

--Daniel

PS: Joe can still be listed as "her biggest fan." Agnetha finds that sort of thing adorable.

PPS to Johnny: :rotfl:

The goal is not to have rare or unpublished pictures before. It’s a dictionnary like all dictionnary. Everybody in Abba are there with all products of its life. For that, you don’t need a dictionnary.

And good new since last week, a publisher is interested in my project. We will met in the beginning of April.
Nicolet - 14.03.2007, 16:25

I think it's a great idea! Finding all informations in one book instead do research in all booklets or books each time I want to remember something. And plus, especially as nobody in Abba is more important than an other.

A great idea!

hello

now i do not consider myself to be Aggies' biggest fan.
i have been on a diet so have lost a few pounds , so there must be someone who weightmore ans is taller than me.

i still consider myself to be an AGGIE nut though , as well as a FRIDA and ABBA nut.

i'll buy it.

gary
ikkedirk - 17.03.2007, 18:39

I think it would be a great book en yes, I would buy it ... without any question.

Please keep us updated ..and try again to get B&B warm for it .... It's something else what hasn't been written yet as it would be the "complete" thing ...

And try Görel to get you supported !

Good Luck
Eszti - 22.03.2007, 22:28

I would buy it. Definitely! I do hope it comes to reality.
Magdalena - 30.03.2008, 02:41

I am waiting for an ABBA Dictionary but now I'm readin Urban Dictionary and I'm not always happy with what they wrote there

Look what they write: "Swedish pop group consisting of two men and two women (...). Thier appeal was lessened by their terrible dress sense."
