This parts was found on a Luftwaffen airfield.
There are parts of aluminium with a area of Bakelit and a stamp.
Beyond was found cartridge belt of 30mm ammo from a russia cannon

Bakalite is usually black. is your piece black? its hard to tell from the photo. the camera flash could make it look the different color.

Bakalite was used because it was heat resistant and did not conduct electricity. so i would guess its from a piece of electrical equipment or was used where a lot of heat was generated.

the ammo belt must be for 20mm ammo. 30mm one end. 20mm the other.
the smaller end would be to the front i think. the casing is bigger than the actual projectile.. casing 30. projectile 20.

why do you think its Russian? is the Airfield in Austria? do you know what Airforces were based there?
sorry to ask all these questions but im just trying to understand.

Bakelite can be brown, because German Field Telefons are Brown and the Case is Bakelite !?

Yes, the Airfield is in Austria (Wiener Neustadt), there was a big Aircraft Production ( http://www.airpower.at/news03/0813_luftkrieg_ostmark/juggler.htm )

there was found a lot of russian Ammo from the 23mm "Gsh" Gun (see example Picture)

i fount a lot of German Airparts with German 2cm Aircraftammo in the same Wood, abot 500 meters there are the Russian parts with russian ammo !?!?

i also found German SD50 Beton Bombs (INERT), there where jused for Pilot Training ...

After long time i knwo what it is!

This part with aluminium+bakelit (?) is a part from the Brakesystem / Brakepads used in Russian Aircrafts (example AN-2) so it looks like there is crashed a Russian Plane !! So i know why i found there Russian 23mm Ammo!!

I have to take a look to this place again ... in this wood i found now Russian + German Aircraftparts :n169: .. very intresting !

About 1000meters from the found there was till 1945 a big German Militaryairfield, 1945-1955 there was Russians on it and now there is the Austrian Airforce + Military-Spezialforces and the Police-specialforces there so i have to be very very carefull :)

that certainly does look like a brake pad. i said this to Nils when you first posted it but thought i was wrong.
it will not be bakalite, it will be made of asbestos or something like that.
