Vanilla Fudge - neues Studioalbum 11.02.2007
Vanilla Fudge, das sind Mark Stein, Vince Martell, Tim Bogert, und Carmine Appice, die sich jeder für sich einen Namen als Musiker in diversen Bands (u.a. bei Rod Stewart, Ted Nugent, Cactus, Tommy Bolin) gemacht haben.
Vanila Fudge veröffentlichte zwischen 1967 und 1970 mehrere Alben mit Hits wie "You Keep Me Hanging On" und "Take Me For A Little While". Danach wurde es still um die Band, bis sie sich 1982 zu einer Reunion wieder zusammenfand, wieder Alben veröffentlichte und tourte.
Im Juli letzten Jahres fand sich die Band im Studio zusammen, um ein Album mit Led Zeppelin Coversongs einzuspielen, die sogar Robert Plant und Jimmy Page gefallen sollen. Mark sagte dazu: "Basically, we rearranged some songs - we're doing a lot of their stuff Vanilla Fudge style. Some of the arrangements are slowed down, and some speeded up but I think we've done the songs justice."
Die CD mit dem passenden Titel "Out Through The In Door" wurde mehrmals
verschoben und wird nun am 20. April erscheinen.

well, i tried to like this at various sittings, but this cd is horrible, maybe black mountainside is the best track. somebody put in a lot of work to make such terrible arrangements of great songs. these guys butchered every song, methinks on purpose. first member to PM me with his/her addy gets this cd, i refuse to keep it in my house.
Pretty much anything these guys do today - sucks. One of their recent albums included remakes of their old stuff and a version of Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy". It sucked by the way. I have to think these guys must be doing this on purpose.
A friend of mine saw them in concert a couple of years ago and he said they were bad. The keyboard player was jumping up and down on the B-3 keyboard and damn near ruined the thing. The group that followed them was pissed.
