Bay City Rollers
From 1 Scottish band to the next . Yes, beleive it or not I was into the Bay City Rollers at their most successful period in the mid-seventies  , even though 95% of their fanbase were teenage GIRLS! I was aware of this at the time, but didn't really care much anyway. It was my brother I blame. His girlfriend at the time was mad on them and she kept on bringing her LP "Rollin" over to our house, My brother kept on playing it, and I got to liking the sounds. I started playing it myself when they were away as well and that got me hooked for sure. I went out and bought their next LP (very 1st one I bought) "Once upon A Star" with my pocket money the next year. My faves were Summerlove Sensation, Shang-a-Lang, Give a Little Love, Let's Go, Be My Baby, Disco Kid.
Then ABBA came along and well, Let's put it this way, there wern't too many teenage bloke's voices to be heard for a good few years.
They were to be resurrected however, when I felt all nostalgic at a Record Fayre in town one day in the early nineties, I bought both LP's that I had listened to back then. I had never owned "Rollin" until that day, and my other LP had become scratched quite a bit, so I got a a much better conditioned one. They come out occassionally (only when I get all nostalgic again, mind you! :D ) to get put on my turntable for a spin .
So anyone here a fan? and any blokes here willing to confess like I have?
(Cmon you can do it! Grit your teeth and confess PLEASE! :D )

I remember "Be my baby" and that my sister was one of those girls who liked them.
That's all I can contribute, I fear.

Bay City Rollers was one i saw.
not my cup of tea really but i'll go watch anything!
what i heard of them they where pretty good but most of the time it was drowned out by all the screaming.

Gary I do declare, we have a photo LOL
Well Bay City Rollers were very popular and I remember the fans were dressing up in tartan. They were kind of the pin up boys of their period.
I'm not sure I ever followed them myself, in fact I probably was annoyed that they gave Abba a bit of competition at times....I dug up some old record charts and Bay CityRollers charted in New Zealand with Bye Bye Bay, Money Honey, Saturday Night/Shang-a-lang, Love me Like I Love you, Rock'n'Roll love letter, I Only Want to Be With Youy, It's A Game, You made Me Believe in Magic and Way I feel Tonight.
Their highest peaking hit was Saturday Night/Shang-a-Lang, peaking at No.7 but Money Honey stayed in the charts the longest, 14 weeks.
As I remember - I think they did well in the States. My favourite is probably Rock'n'roll Love Letter.
Cheers Merton
