New Agnetha album for 2007
Hi guys,
I was looking some pages yesterday and I found in Wikipedia that Agnetha 'might be working' for a new album for 2007.
I remember that I read somewhere that Agnetha wanted to end her career recording a swedish album... that hasn't come yet. Might this be?
What do you know?
If you want to see the page, search for Agnetha Fältskog on Google, I think it's the third page (sorry I don't have the link)
Love,
Andrea 8)

This has been discussed in dozens of topics. Fact is that nobody knows. I wouldn't have any objections, though.

The Daily Mirror in December 2006 revealed that Agnetha was recording a new album, for release in 2007 with all new songs. However, not much more is known about this.

After My Colouring Book in 2004 nothing is impossible anymore - I'm sure that Agnetha will show up in soptlight again, somehow, someday.
A Swedish album would be really great, I love the way she sings in her mother tounge, it sounds somuch different than her english songs. But Agnetha could also read out the telephone book and I'd love to listen to it.

Hi guys,
I just figured out an idea. After seeing the pics where Agnetha attended the Mamma Mia closing in Stockholm recently, and she even sang a duet with Tommy Körberg, then one where she was with her friends at an Stockholm disco...
I thought that probably she's going out more because later she'll have to promote her new album.
It's 2007 already and maybe she's preparing it :blob1:
What do you think?
Love,

I'm not so sure about that, It's possible she might be working on something new, but she's clearly not fond of promotion activities. She made it clear on MCB that she wasn't going to be doing that, and besides a promo clip or 2, she didn't.

NEWS FLASH: Agnetha announced today she would be singing the Stockholm Telephone Directory for her new single, 500,000 advance copies have already been ordered .... :P

Interesting thoughts, Andea, but mainly because of the duet! Just for fun or maybe a hint for a new album? Maybe Tommy Körberg becoming a link to BAO? (ok the last one is just my personal dream) Anyway, I thought Xmas has just been over...

Hej, if you want a good crash course in Swedish, just buy a copy of "Kristina" and play it, play it, then play it some more. If you fall, erm, head over heels (yes, pun intended) in love with it, like I and so many others have, you may want more than one set. There are not enough adjectives with which to describe this musical: Björn and Benny are the new Rodgers and Hammerstein, imho.
Oh, but a new album for Agnetha would be incredible. Barry Manilow is doing cd's through the decades...I think he's up to the 60's now. I'd like to see Agnetha do the same. She tackled the 60's on MCB, now she needs to do the 70's... let's see [wavy tie-dyed screen indicates deep thinking...or LSD]...Agnetha singing Karen Carpenters's songs. She already did one of the covers that KC did..."The End of the World". But imagine her on "I Need to be in Love", "You" (Album: "A Kind of Hush"), "Can't Smile Without You", "Maybe It's You", "Rainy Days and Mondays". I'd go on, but these would be natural vehicles for Agnetha's soprano... or would they? Your opinions?

Wonder how they found out...maybe the same way they or other reporters found out that Agnetha is a recluse...? Me, I'm not holding my breath, but I'd love to hear more of her. With her refusal to promote the album, though, would it be a smart move on the part of Warner or whatever company released it? They've got to be a bit wary, methinks...

Perhaps there even is a serious source for that, but I wouldn't be surprised, if they just picked up some notes and speculations repeated (by fans etc.) on various sites and occasions, finally creating "facts" from it. I know that it had happened like that on some football (soccer) topics in the past.

Ah how negative!
When Agnetha can record an album after 17 years there is no reason to be a dreamer when one thinks she might record again. Agnetha even mentioned it herself that she could do another one and it might be in Swedish.
Could... might... does not mean: no way and dream on!

Hi Malin,
I agree with you. I was already been quite esceptical about Agnetha. I never thought she would record anything after MCB.
But it all changed when I read the information about her "next album" in Wikipedia.
And then, I saw the pictures were she's dancing at the disco and recently, the Mamma Mia party. And even sang!
That's a good sign, I think. As I said before, probably she's going out more because she'll have to do some promotion later.
I'll keep my fingers crossed all 2007

I've said it before and I'll say it again- people like to shake a tail feather on the dance floor these days so my dream is for Agnetha to record a really dancey album. I love the ballads, etc ( that IS Agnetha to me) but if she wants to 'get down with the kids' then she should find herself a **** hot producer and get exercising those vocal cords for some serious warbling! I'd SO like to see her do this as I don't think she has any idea of the effect she has in a nightclub when her voice comes over the speakers- I've never seen so many gays throw themselves around the dance floor! :rotfl: It's a given that Agnetha (and Frida, too) is well on her way to becoming a gay icon. Well, to my mind she already is. It's that mythological 'tragic diva' thing, I'm afraid..it's not even true but we know how people love to invent these personas for their heroines...

It doesn't matter what type of songs she sings, just as long as she does! But to answer your question Andrea I would be SO happy to hear Agnetha do something like Confessions or even a Pet Shop Boys produced thing. I just think Agnetha's voice lends itself so well to that trancey sort of sound, swirling soundscapes with Agnetha's voice cutting thru like a lazer! The Madonna album was/is great- I can easily imagine Agnetha recording something like this but of course doing an even better job vocally.
Joe
drimnagh - 27.01.2007, 14:03
Remember how Cher came back from showbusiness wilderness with 'Believe'? Well, that's what I think Agnetha could achieve IF SHE WANTED TO. I'm not saying Agnetha is in the wilderness or even that she should record a song like 'Believe' but you get the gist....

I'd love to see Agnethe working with Patrick Leonard. he was the one who wrote the music of all the "good" Madonna-songs like Live To Tell, Open Your Heart, Who's That Girl, Like A Prayer, I'll Remember, Frozen, Sky Fits Heaven and so on.
I can imagine Agnetha writing music together with him, would be a great project.

Nice idea indeed, although Madonna's sound is very different from Agnetha's. Of couse, if that man is a good songwriter, he will be able to make other kind of songs too, so maybe? At least it might be obvious both Madonna and ABBA do admire each other in a way.

DancingQueen wrote: Nice idea indeed, although Madonna's sound is very different from Agnetha's. Well, today's Madonna and her music are of course different from what Agnetha does. But her 1986-album True Blue and Agnetha's 1987-album I Stand Alone have some similarities. In fact, Madonna's La Isla Bonita and Agnetha's I Stand Alone even sound a tiny little bit similar, the were both co-written by Bruce Gaitsch.
And Agnetha could easily sing songs like Live To Tell, Open Your Heart or La Isla Bonita that were all included on True Blue and would perfectly fit Agnetha's range and her style.

I think Agnetha is able to sing any song if she wanted to :D Yes, I've noticed some similarities between Madonna and Agnetha, specially in both 80's sound (well, it was the same decade).
I would love to hear Agnetha singing songs like Madonna's, a very classy pop sound, since she's an excellent artist too!
