French and Saunders parody
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eidyrlSdKcE
What do you people think of it: the parody by French and Saunders of the one and only ABBA? When I saw this video for the very first time, it made me laugh and it still does. The way they look, those faces: it's almost like the real ABBA, especially 'Agnetha' is great. I like the part when they start running hand in hand: I think it's really fun. :P
I bet the real ABBA didn't like it that much... ;)

I dont usually like people immitating abba, because it is usually cruel, but i like that, and Jennifer Saunders was very good as Agnetha, even sounding a bit like her too. Very funny.

Oh yes indeed! :D It's a weird medley of Knowing Me, Knowing You, SOS and Bang-a-Boomerang, but really funny.

For those of us in the US with too little exposure to British humor, except for whatever PBS shows, Jennifer Saunders is the voice of the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2.
At YouTube there are other links to French/Saunders parodies, including the Bergman one, so there is a Swedish connection again, and at the end Saunders leaves singing "Money, Money, Money."

When my sister and I first saw this in the mid-90s we nearly peed our pants laughing at the 'C'est good for you, c'est bad for me'.
This is classic French and Saunders and to this day I sometimes randomly sing 'C'est la vie, c'est la vie' to my self.

It was really funny
I remember searching for ABBA parodies on YouTube, and I found French and Saunders's.
I think French didn't make it like Frida, but Jennifer was perfect for Agnetha. Her voice and even the gestures, it was perfect 8)
Also the song "Cest' La Vie" sounds like a KMKY and TWTIA mix, plus the video, very KMKY, B-A-B, S.O.S and TNOTG.
Hilarous! :excited:

Like wise. Say what will be will be will be... very funny and a complement of sorts. You can only imitate someone if they are very distinctive.

That French & Saunders parody is indeed hilarious. The lyrics are so funny and the song sounds like some ABBA reject; I love it!
The second link to the Arrival clip: I do not like it at all.
The bandmembers come across as nice and respectful people but I really do not care for it. It doesn't really look like ABBA and neither does it sound like them... imho!

I think the French and Saunders one is more an act to make fool of ABBA, and the second one (Arrival) is more serious. I like Jennifer Saunders as Agnetha better than the Agnetha from Arrival (I don't know her name) but I think both acts are pretty much alike.
Watching both of them is nice, but I still prefer the real ABBA. ;)

Jennifer Saunders is great in this parody. slightly off-subject: i have often mentioned how her partner from Ab-Fab, Joanne Lumley, would make a perfect Tanya in the Mamma-Mia movie.

Oh I enjoyed it very much! Really fantastic! The French & Saunders video is done very well, and I even like the song. :D
The group Arrival made a very good version of "Just A Notion". That´s how it could sound as a complete song. :agree:
Thank you very much for those funny and great vids, Dancing Queen.

No problem, I enjoyed it very much myself too! Jennifer Saunders did an absolutely amazing job as Agnetha - the way she copies her voice is quite impressing! They must have studied The Definitive Collection for a long time, because a of Abba's official clips are parodied in this video! (The Name Of The Game, Knowing Me Knowing You, One Of Us, The Winner Takes It All..)
A Bucket of French and Saunders is broadcast at BBC1 every monday evening. Besides Abba, they did some other fantastic parodies like for instance Madonna, The Cors and movies like Tatanic and the Igmar Bergman ones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJi_emmNYTY (Notice what song Dawn is singing at the end of the video!)
You are right Abbascots: British humor at it's best! :applause:

How could that be possible? This clip was made in 1988, Definitive Collection didn't come out till 2001

Hey,
I've seen this clip several times, It's great :D
I've always noticed ''Agnetha's Waterloo-esque hat''
but only NOW realised that she also wears blue trousers, just like Agnetha's waterloo Trousers **Can be seen when the run down a hill**
Great Cip
Update - ''Agnetha'' even wears a dog tag, like the real Agnetha wore, for instance, on the Waterloo Cover  :)
