Frida's changing image.
I have always loved the various hairstyles Frida has tried During ABBA and After.
Which is your favourite hairstyle for the ABBA years and after.
ABBA
For me it is the Picture taken from the single Summer Night City
After ABBA
Hairstyle Frida had during the Recording Of The Djupa Antedag CD

Dear Maxi-saxi
I like her hairstyle in Fernando and the short hair she had in 1992

My favourite hairstyle for Frida was the beautiful long red hair she had in 1977 during the tour, and in the Name of the game video, and knowing me knowing you video. she looked absolutely gorgeous with that hairstyle.

My favourite is the delicious red hair  from the early days, 'The Name Of The Game' period. Also, the Something's Going On' look. My least faves are ALL of the perms ( both 'Waterloo' and 'Super Trouper' periods and of late, the Andy Warhol look. :puke:) However, these days she is class and style personified.

I'd basically say the Fernando, Arrival, SNC and Voulez-vous hairstyles. I don't particularly mind the Waterloo perm but it does have some charm. Not really fond of One of us hairstyle. :P

Frida sure is an attractive woman, she has held up nicely I think even today. In my (maybe not so humble) opinion, as long as she kept her hair style straight to wavy she was downright stunning, but the frizzy curly style that she had so often wasn't so very attractive.
Both of the girls were at their most stunning with the non-permed hair for that matter, short or long. :P

I have loved Frida's wonderful array of hairdo's through the years but there's there a few I really didn't like too much.
1. The punky hairdo from late '81/early '82, (YUK!)
2. The blonde look in mid eighties and just recently.

I always thought Frida was and still is the true queen of reinvention (perhaps not in the over stylised way that Madonna is ) you can plot the history of ABBA through the many many Frida hair styles, colours, etc. My faves in no particular order 77 tour/KMKY (the colour and length worked so well on stage and perfect match for Agnetha), Arrival, great with the white jump suits , Voulez Vous (very sexy) or when it was dead straight in the early 70's.
abbascots - 23.12.2006, 02:18
Hi Maxisaxi
Frida has always been able to keep a head in style,I like the fact that through the years Frida reinvents herself with different hairstyles,I liked the long hair in the name of the game and money money money videos,The later styles from 82-83 where nice also,Dureing the Djupa Endetag period Frida looked very serene i thought Frida suited that short coller lenth hairstyle,Through the 2000s Frida has managed to keep herself trim in shape and very elagent looking,From the silver blond bob,to the razor cut,And now back to the coller lenth light brown hairstyle,To this day Frida is very modern and into fashion and ever changeing styles!

The Frida looks I liked best were:
1. The straight red hair in the white jumpsuits from the Arrival Album Cover.
2. The Super Trouper Album Cover photoshoot.
3. The Inside Sleeve pic from The Album.
4. The Voulez-Vous album cover look.
Maxi-saxi - 29.12.2006, 06:23
I liked Fridas look during the Djupa Antedag recording, it really suited her, I also liked the Blond Bob cut she had untill a few years ago. No matter what she decides to do as I said she looks wonderful.
I like the colouring and style of her hair now, She looks great.

Pinky_Mistress - 29.12.2006, 12:14
I like her hair in
1) Dancing Queen clip
2) Does your mother know
3) Gimme=Gimme=Gimme which is equal to I have a dream
DancingQueen - 29.12.2006, 12:31
I always have loved her long hair style: in the 'The Name Of The Game' videoclip. Let's see if I can find a few pictures of her..
Her style in the videoclip of 'Dancing Queen' looks nice too, but I prefer the other one. ;) But it doesn't look always that great: indeed, that punky style which she had during the 'One Of Us' video and in 'Under Attack' looks awful..
ABBAnator - 29.12.2006, 13:18
Ooooh, that's a good one DQ. :P
I must admit, 90% of my ABBA pictures are more or less Agnetha, but that one is sooooo cute. That one definitely goes in the save folder!!
Thanks for uploading!

I really like the look she has today. Or had the last time we saw pictures of her. As everybody knows it is also possible she has changed her image drastically overnight. Dreadlocks? Black? Grey grandmother perm?

Like the haircut, like the clothes. Dior or H&M ? Very nice anyway.

Frida is certainly a chameleon!
I was always really keen on the fiery red hair and with her sign being Scorpio, very intense and passionate, it was very fitting. Nowadays, I think the 'look' she has is very classy indeed- she has always been a very stylish woman, of that there can be no doubt.
Joe
Fire&Ice - 09.01.2007, 16:27
Can anyone honestly say that this perm is bad?
drimnagh - 09.01.2007, 17:14
Not at all and she looks stunning in that picture. I think perhaps some people might think the 'Super Trouper' video perm might not have done her any favours...like it's a crime to have a bad hair day!!!? We all have them!* And when I think of some of the disastrous 'hairstyles' I've exhibited on an unsuspecting public I shudder inside and am glad there isn't any photographic evidence to convict me for crimes against fashion! Whatever her hairstyle, Frida always looks like a dream.
Joe
* I should know- every day is a 'bad hair' day pour moi (not having any that is! )
Bonnie - 10.01.2007, 00:20
Agree Joe, besides Frida just made the perm look good!
(biaised, moi?)

I agree with both of you! And here is the perfect example of Frida making the perm look good! Even if it is a ST one!
Wonderful eyes!
Carribean - 10.01.2007, 01:26
Hmmm... I was never a perm fan so no thanks... but Frida looked amazing in 1977 with that red long hair: wow!!
Her look in the Djupa Andetag pics is very nice as well and I even liked the 80's punk look but it made her age a little (in my opinion).
And I agree with Bonnie: her latest look is pretty beautiful as well.
Fire&Ice - 11.01.2007, 02:02
I love her latest look! Very classy!
Another perm made beautiful by Frida. :)

Hi dear members! :D
Fridas many changes throughout the whole Abba carrér was one of the things I loved/love with her. For each new album or single there was a new look! I adored it as a child and I adore it today.
Looking now on all the millions of pics on the internet that exists of Abba I must say I love all her hairstyles with the exception of the very early days around Ring Ring.
I think most of the time she looked fantastic and she still does. She is a constant inspiration in my life.
Among my fave periods are:
-The long hair in 1978
- The 1982 looks with Abba
-The Something going on hair
.....and all the others!
Bye / JanneRobert

I loved and i still do love her red hair from 1977! It was brilliant!
I have red hair, and naturally its not quite that red, but I used henna on my hair and its the EXACT same colour as that now, so I would recommend using it if you want that colour!
Frida is and always will be beautiful!

Has anyone got any information on the magazine that Frida was voted best dressed 50 plus woman in sweden,Bonnie mentioned it was this month and it was called M,Any info would be nice Thanks johnsteven

Favourite hairstyle in the ABBA years was probably the 1977 look, f.e. the hairstyle on the "Take a chance on me" single cover. Also that sexy 1978 look is a favourite ("Summer night city" video).
I'm not a fan of the early eighties look she had for her solo albums, f.e. "Shine". It didn't suit her personality, too extreme and too much make-up. But then again, it was the fashion at the time.

Hey johnsteven, get off my case! he he You know what I mean!
I agree, Frida still looks stunning for her age. She obviously takes care of herself, eats well, etc. My mental picture of her is when she was with ABBA, exercising with her trainer in 'ABBA- The Movie'- I knew then she was health conscious and would always look great for her age- so elegant.
Joe
abbascots - 30.01.2007, 23:04
He He I was only kidding  yes Joe i did realise what you ment i also agree with you regards too Frida keeping fit,Frida say's she eats a healthy diet and the mountain walks help keep her in shape!

Frida Hair
I personally was never fond of the late 80's Punk style....the short funky look along with tht typically "over the top" 80's style of clothing she wore. I absolutely think the Frida is a very beautiful and sexy woman...always was to me, and still is very much so.
Funny to admit it, but at my age, 42, I am attracted to Frida the most when she was singing in her solo career...the sixties hair-do's that resemble "That Girl" or "Mary-Tyler Moore" style....the headband and the "flip"....very attractive on such a lovely face. She has indeed aged very well, and maintains a very manicured look. She should be very proud of herself..she has lived a very stressful and active life...she looks younger than I do!!!
Emmanuelle - 22.04.2007, 01:00
Best:
The long red hair ca. 1977
The long straight dark brown hair
The outgrowing perm (as in SOS or Super Trouper)
The Djupa Andetag short style
Her latest style, soft brown color and softer flattering do
Not the best:
The Waterloo and TWTIA perms. Too much volume on top her head.
Anything blond, as it washes her out.
I have mixed feelings re: the punky hairdo. I think she looked gorgeous in the Show Express in Nov. '82 (just the other day, as I was watching her performance of Cassandra in that show, my 4-year-old said "That's a beautiful woman". I have me a little Frida fan  ). Sometimes, it wasn't that great. "One of Us" comes to mind.
But when I don't like the hair, I try to ignore it and focus on her beautiful face. :love4:

It cannot be easy having so many critical eyes cast over your appearance. I do not envy Frida that part of her life at all.

Hi I have looked almost every site i could think off looking for the cover featureing Frida as the best 50 plus and i could not find it,So lucky you Maxisaxi  Nevermind though i agree with you Carribean i do hope too see Frida again soon but you never know maybe we will see new Frida pics from the Polar prize in may as Frida is a regular attendee ! :D

For me i have never seen a woman look as beautifully radiant as Frida did around the "Djupa Andetag" period.
She looked completely content with life, she was in love, working with what she is passionate about and singing the way she was born to do.
All of this showed on her outside appearance.
My heart still skips a beat when i look at those photos now.
Loved Fridas hair from "tnotg to snc", i think she was at her most sensual around this time too.
The only hairstyle i would go back and change is the eurovision perm, it was her first introduction to a global audience and made her look much older than Agnetha.
Lovefridax
Bonnie - 23.04.2007, 22:39
The Waterloo perm wasn't that bad. Again it was very "in" at that time, like most of Frida's hairdos.
But it was a mistake to introduce her to the audience with that perm because it made her look much older than Agnetha and from that moment on she was labeled that way too.
Fire&Ice - 23.04.2007, 23:07
Bonnie wrote: and from that moment on she was labeled that way too.
..which is naturally, absolute rubbish. :wrath:
Maxi-saxi - 24.04.2007, 05:59
Bonnie,
You have raised some very good points there about Frida's Hair styles over the years, from the Beginning Of ABBA to now, Frida was always in with the latest fashions and Hair styles, I did not mind the perm Frida had in 74/75. It was the in thing then. My favorite style with ABBA was 1977, and her solo years was Djupa Antedag.
In 1981 She went for the Punk Look with her hair spiked a little and colored. Never a favorite of mine, but somehow she still managed to look good.

yours or Fridas.

Definately nothing wrong with that gorgeous face
I would only change the style she had for that eurovision night. but its impossible for me to imagine another style Frida could of had to go with her euro costume.
Any ideas ???????

Fire&Ice - 24.04.2007, 19:19
Aww Gary!
More about her hairstyle in '74. There was nothing really she could have done, except maybe dye her hair in one even shade. The highlights appeared as if she were grey-haired and thus lead to stupid conclusions and labels.. ugh. :wrath: I always get annoyed at the thought of them.. :P
