*ABBA's omnipotence?*
Last night on tv show, 'Extinct' ( about saving the wild animals) ABBA's 'SOS' was used briefly to great effect...'When you're gone..'. It got me thinking how much ABBA's music has been absorbed and used in popular culture. I don't think a day goes by where their music isn't used or referenced somewhere in the world! That must be a great feeling!
Just wondered..if ABBA's music could be used to promote a cause or whatever, what would that be? I'll go for 'Happy New Year' initially, as a plea for mankind to stop being so cynical and destuctive.
Answers on a postcard, please.

abba's omnipotence
a postcard :?:
Perhaps, i don't understand your topic :?:  :D
My first choice would be "i have a dream, a song to sing, to help me cope with anything etc." but this song makes dicuss and finally i choose "money money" because i like thinking that this song is a social satyr about the material world, the differences between rich and poor, the ways to begin rich (i got me a wealthy man: sad occupaion!!) and the appareance of what doing with money.
I think that money is important to have a good life, but we don't admitt that some countries are sacrified and some population opressed.
Frida said that money is a resposability; it's right because it's a privilège and, also often an injustice and because money with power are, in my mind, the lone reasons to wars, inequality in front of maladie (sida in Africa for example), desaster on ecology etc..
yes, i choose "money money money" with this subject for the lyrics.
Regards,
Pierre

Thanks for your response Pierre, very thoughtful as always.
The 'answers on a postcard' thing was just a silly joke. Sorry! I will be sensible from now on.
Agree with you about 'Moneyx3, by the way.

Joe.

hello
here is my postcard.
i think maybe omnipotent is too strong a word. the last thing we need is all non-ABBA fans thinking we mean to take over the world and ordering everyone about , despite the fact i think all of us need to be reminded from time to time not to be so nasty to each other.
omnipresent is more appropriate. we do need to tell the whole world to stop , take a step back and have a good look at what our actions are doing to this world , but we need to do it in such a way that we do not alienate the populous.
with this in mind "I let the Music speak:
with the exception to some of the more heartbreaking songs , most of ABBA's songs are happy and bouncy...
so let everyone just listen to the music and be happier than without it.
i need money , i hate it , but i need it. i do so much wish i could get on with my life without it , but it is an neccessary evil. i'll need money to get to Roosendaal , i need money to send this postcard.
i need money to reply to this topic. we all need money to spread the word , brother.
gary :D

we all need money to spread the word , brother.
Which lead me to my postcard which will be short.
I'd probably use He is your brother to remind people to love each other! :love4: (which is not very original, remember Unicef! :? )

Silly me! Of course I meant 'omnipresence'! I almost said, 'omnivorous' which would have been even more off the scale.
