ABBA IN CONCERT DVD
I was last night watching the DVD,
One of My favourites,

I was also watching again the interviews, especally the one with their Tour Manager.
Thomas Johanasson
He said about the seating in a USA concert venue were certian members of the criminal world wanted seats in front of paying customers. He stated that they were putting these seats in place and He as Tour Manager And ABBA said NO.

The seats were taken away and Thomas said I believe this was the only concert he never stayed to watch. He said he left town rather quickly.

I found this rather fasinating.

Yes, I found the interview with Tomas Johansson very informative and insightful. If not for him, I would never have imagined how huge the 1979 ABBA concerts were. Of course, the mafia thing seemed to solidify ABBA's immense reach to all kinds of people or did it serve to show the softer side of the mob? ABBA, after all, were supposedly known as goody-two-shoes etc.

Las Vegas
Hi Maxi saxi, I at that time in 1979 were living in Las vegas Nev. When Thomas Johassen used the word mob it really was not true, Vegas then and now is closely watched by State and Federial Gov. Vegas was cleaned up in the late 30s and early 40s and through out the mob. ABBA did not wont to play Vegas but the money was so good they flew from L.A. Calf. to Las Vegas to do the show at the newly bult Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts. There was a new front row put in for some high ranking hotel owners, like the Hiltons but Bjorn and Benny made them take the VIP seats out. Thomas did not tell ABBA untel later that they where ask to leave Vages after the show and not to return ever.

And thats the trouth

Your are right Maxi-saxi I know only a few grups that would be that way,
I think one would be the The Carpenters, may be Mama's and the pupa's
grups that are not that out standing.

Yes, I've got an copy too, and I love it. Some of the songs which they preform are better live, but not all of them. My favourite is Does Your Mother Know, but Waterloo is great as well. All four members seem to enjoy theirselves: they look so happy! One of the better parts is I Have A Dream, with those children choirs and daughter Linda on stage. Nice to see some screenshots backstage too.

I am sorry Dancing Queen, but did you read what Maxi-saxi wrote, it was not about concert, it was about Vagas putting in another front row, so may I ask you what do you think about other groups that would do the samething that ABBA did or are most groups out for the money.

I am sorry!

Most groups are out for the money, but I don't think ABBA wasn't one of them, maybe not completely, but they did want to earn money. To be honest, I don't undestand your question completely.

ABBA always put their fans first, I can remember them being concernred that fans shouldn't pay extreme prices for there tour seats at the concert venues,

This was well docoumented in various books and interviews.

Oh I see...

Quote: ABBA always put their fans first, I can remember them being concernred that fans shouldn't pay extreme prices for there tour seats at the concert venues

Yes that could have been possible, but at the end, I think they were pretty much tired with all those interviews and fandom as well. It wasn't just only for the fun: they did want to make money too, and that's OK for me. Björn and Stig, they were kind the of business-team together. If you see Björn during an interview, he will give you all the more general answers and the answers about money. They started without any succes at the very first beginning, so I think they just loved what they were doing, but at the end: well I am sure they fact of making a lot of money was pretty important to them. Even if the prices weren't extreme, they would have earned enough. But I've heard other stories as well, from people who want to get ABBA for some stage. They had to pay very high prices to get them, so I don't think it was a kind of 'everything for the fans' actually.
