    Satyricon
Did anyone else hear that the drummer from Shitknot is drumming for Satyricon in the US...Because the US won't let their drummer in the country... ?

    Is this all true?

If so, that fucker better not mess it up for them. Or else he'll get more then just flaming poo at his door step!!! :axe:

    Re: Satyricon

    Telchar - 10.11.2004, 20:15

    I heard this too

    Lord Corum - 10.11.2004, 23:04

Frost isn't allowed to enter the USA cause he had a wild fight with somebody sometime there... I'm sure Attila can tell you more...

Satyricon have sold out already you know....Still, this news really saddens me if it is true.

    Rekkr - 11.11.2004, 06:24

It's true... I'd have to dig the article up, but it IS true... (sadly)

    Hieronimus - 11.11.2004, 11:55

What's sad about it? Joey from Slipknot is a VERY good drummer!

    Re: Satyricon

    Hol Drengr - 11.11.2004, 22:21

If he's so good, how come they have two drummers?

    Re: Satyricon

    Shalafi - 12.11.2004, 00:43

I don't care about the drummer's skill, he is going to be playing Satyricon's songs, not stuff he wrote, or his bandmates' either. Hell, I would rather have Manheim join them. This is just further breaking the boundary between Black Metal and mainstream nu-metal shit! With this, the countless Slipknot fans who havn't heard Satyricon yet [the majority] will jump on the bandwagon. This is just getting worse and worse.

Exactly. Now idiot fanatic Shitknot fans will closet their Shitknot hoodies and wear Satyricon all the time. Exploiting it with their idiocy ways. And so on...

It is pretty bad, yes, but I barely ever see moronic cunts doing this in real life compared to here on the net where they all meet and screw up the BM room on Soulseek. And still, the majority of Slipknot fans know NOTHING of Slipknot...it's really a small number that know anything about real Black Metal bands [the ones selling out so much recently], now any fan that keeps even a mild outlook on Slipknot news will turn to Satyricon, and from there........

Apparently everyone is finding Mayhem at least now, I know quite a few angsty Slipknot/Linkin Park cunts that KNOW Mayhem because they claimed that Mayhem are all over the news and papers here for hitting a Slipknot fan or some such with a pig head during a big concert? I havn't heard shit about this though.

    Martyrium - 13.11.2004, 01:35

I read somewhere (i guess it was in blabbermouth) that the reason was Frost's criminal record.

Anyways... Satyr rules, and i still like "Volcano"

    Re: Satyricon

    Shalafi - 13.11.2004, 03:09

I havn't heard Volcano....I only have The Shadowthrone....anyone want to let me download their material that "isn't worth paying for", in a sense?

    Re: Satyricon

    Attila - 22.11.2004, 19:15

It was definitely clear that the Joey Jordison issue would be discussed on such a large scale. Satyr and him have been, according to the Satyricon leader, "long-time friends". I don't think it's a step towards sell-out or whatever people accuse him of if he asks Joey to join Satyricon on their US tour. Did anyone accuse Jonas Åkerlund who shot the Fuel For Hatred video of being "not true" because he had worked with Madonna formerly?
If JJ is a skilled drummer (and he definitely is), why shouldn't he join Satyricon on drums during their tour? What counts is whether he can maintain the high standard of Frost's drumming and not if he plays in Slipknot or any other band all those super-hyper-ultra-true people don't like.
I'm so pissed off by all those fuckers who always speak of being true or not true and sell-out. Should Satyricon better cancel their tour to satisfy all Slipknot haters and dissapoint all the other fans who don't care if Joey Jordison or Jerry Seinfeld is the drummer as long as they give them a huge blast with their show?
Slipknot features very good musicians, and although I don't like their music and image, I respect their musical abilities. And the image of bands like them is mostly created by the wimps who call themselves metal fans, disgusting scum who have been listening to Boys 2 Men before they thought it would be cool to have a more "extreme" image. Every band who sells records wants to gain fans and popularity, otherwise they wouldn't publish their music. So if you don't like Slipknot, don't fuckin' listen to it, if you can't stand Joey Jordison on Satyricon's drumset, don't fucking attend their concert, it's as easy as that.

    Re: Satyricon

    Rekkr - 22.11.2004, 19:41

It's not as simple as that. It the idea behind it which is the problem. As it stands now (or I should say a couple years ago) Black Metal was an underground genre which was pretty much ignored by the mainstream media. Now that Joey Jordinson is going to be drumming for Satyricon, the mainstream media will most likely record the event. All kinds of people will swarm into the black metal scene and completely destroy it. Black metal now is in danger of being destroyed now, this could be a mortal wound for black metal... I hate Satyr! I'm not one of those "tr00" people, I just respect the black metal scene and I don't want to see it ruined by a bunch of fucking Americans.

    Re: Satyricon

    Attila - 22.11.2004, 22:14

Believe me, it doesn't take Joey Jordison to make the US aware of the existence of this mystical metal subgenre called Black Metal. Most of the Black Metal bands' records are licensed to the US and are distributed there and the American version of Satyricon's Volcano was already licensed by EatUrMusic, the label of the System of A Down guitarist, long before this Joey Jordison issue came up and SOAD is not an unknown band either. Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth played at Ozzfest which is without doubt one of the biggest metal festivals in the US, if not the biggest at all. And as they are still categorised as Black Metal, it was already made public by them long before. Even the most pop-loving fag has once heard that BM is existing and with the help of Varg Vikernes, various church burnings, grave desecrations and shit like that, the media was also full of Black Metal, globally, for a long period. Even stupid teenager mags like the German BRAVO or the Austrian RENNBAHN EXPRESS had a special inside them about Black Metal. This fucking small part that Joey Jordison plays is just another contribution to the worldwide Black Metal hype and will have no greater impact on the US than all the other things that made the world aware of itl. And not all stupid people only look at the media to get to know what is "in" with the music scene.
And how the hell should a ridiculous piece of a fly's shit like JJ's help-out destroy Black Metal? It can't be ruined more than it has been already years ago, just look at a BM concert of your choice, there you have 80% posers and 20% people who really fit into the thought of Black Metal. It's easy to seperate between one who is really dedicated to a musical style and one who does it only to have a "cool" image. I, for my part, know where my roots are and I don't care if one of those neo-pseudo-black metalers tries to convince people how black he is. The main thing is what it means to you and me and the feeling it gives us. Do you listen to BM just because it is supposed to be underground and because it makes you a special person? As long as you don't suffer from inferiority complexes you shouldn't care what assholes start to listen to it.
The bands will go on with their music, posers come and go, Black Metal will stay alive and is much too strong to die, but you can't live in a dreamworld where only the chosen ones know and listen to BM.

    Re: Satyricon

    Shalafi - 23.11.2004, 00:40

It seems like you don't really like the poser cunts that have been filling the BM fanbase like mad lately. Neither do I, the main reason I am against this is because now I will most likely run into countless fucking mallgoths and Hot Topic fucks who seem to have a compliment about anything I'm wearing, which is like a fucking advertisement in itself you could respond with, which is true, I feel lame when I think I'm just advertising all these bands, yet I wear it all anyway, I have no reason for why this is either besides I just like them and don't like shopping in stores...[requires going outside. :C] Both lame reasons. Shit, I went off topic. So yeah, you are right about this, I don't care about keeping it "tr000", I hate all the fans that think thus way. Being "tr000" is the trendiest thing about Black Metal nowadays. The BM room on Soulseek is FILLED with these people bitching nonstop to fit the image. The reason I don't like BM becoming so popular...the number of these idiots increases drastically. It is just fucking sickening. I hate dealing with idiots, especially the ones that completely insult me and the music I'm into. I'd rather see a high number of pop-punk trendoid kids with an IQ of 2 like I used to than the increasing number of Black Metal fans with an IQ even lower [wtf?].
And you are right about the concerts too, though personally I would raise the % of posers and lower the other. I've really only been to one concert, Iced Earth/Children of Bodom/Evergrey. I met and talked to only one person I liked. Everyone else bugged the living shit out of me. Countless fat kids headbanging backwards [I got fucking hit when some fat kid raised his fist and threw his head 3 feet behind him and smacked me in the skull, what is wrong with these kids], countless 8 year olds trying to discuss the more "extreme" music, 20 y/o Mexican Hot Topic kids decked out in face paint and a Cradle of Filth shirt who complemented my Emperor shirt at the time, completely insulting me in the process, I almost got my ass kicked for my response to him and his buddies, kids in Shadows Fall and EMO SHIRTS, a 50-year old father who wouldn't let me move from my stuck spot because he "had a good view of his daughter and her boyfriend in the mosh pit", I was literally stuck in that spot, no one would let me out, and drunk, stupid, hick ladies kept insulting me more by calling me a silly little child. Ah hell, I'm going off track again. Of all these people I only liked 2 [the second didn't speak. :D].

Idea behind the story: Screw idiots.

    Re: Satyricon

    Rekkr - 23.11.2004, 01:47

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of tr00ness either. But why hate idiots? If there were no idiots, intelligent people like us wouldn't stand out. :D Ok, just kidding. I can't stand idiots either, but 90% of the world is full of them, so I guess I'll just have to get used to them somehow. Or just totally ignore them...

Either way, Satyricon's musicianship has never exactly been anything special. Volcano was shitful. Satyricon (in exception of a handful of songs) are generally crap.

That's right... I'm not "tr00" or "kvlt". I am simply someone who lives for music that is mentally stimulating, no matter what genre it comes from. Give me progression, technicality or atmosphere... preferably all at once.

Ephel Duath's second album was an odd hybrid of Hardcore and Jazz. The drummer had to be given an extensive catalogue to listen to in order to understand metal because he was a jazz drummer for 25 years or somewhere thereabouts. Does this mean that Ephel Duath sold out? Fuck no.

It is only when a band is notorious for it's musicianship and not it's image that people simply don't pay any attention as to who is in the band or touring with them. Or in other words, the members aren't accused of selling out or doing away with their "roots".

Vogg and Martin from Decapitated are in Lux Occulta. Death and Black metal respectively. Does this mean that when touring or recording with Lux Occulta they are "troo" or "kvlt", but when touring with Decapitated they're simply "brutal" (or br00tal as I like to use in jest of this whole topic)?

You're fuelling your own frustration by even giving a shit. And that to me... displays lack of intelligence.
