Also bis zu meinem Geburtstag halt ich das wohl nicht aus. Dezember war ja gerade erst.

Hipp Hipp Hurra, die Post war da. :tanz: Gestern nachmittag habe ich die DVDs von amazon bekommen.
Die beiden Teile des "Making of" hab ich mir gestern gleich noch angeschaut. Den Piloten werde ich heute in aller Ruhe genießen.

ich bekomme meine box erst am montag, denn der lieferdienst hatte auf seiner route einen unfall :?
der schutzengel des fahrers war aufmerksam und es ist nur sachschaden entstanden, aber leider hat es nicht mehr gereicht meine lang erwarteten dvd's zu bringen :roll:

Also ich bin schon fleißig am Gucken. Ich kannte ja bisher nur den Pilotfilm und hab quasi ins blaue gekauft (was ich sonst nicht mache). Ich bereue es nicht. Das ist eine fantastische Serie!!!!!
Well, I am already eagerly watching. I did only know the pilot movie till now and bought "into the blue" (what is not my style normally). I dont regret that. This is a fantastic series.
David war da ja noch ne ganze Ecke jünger und schaut da ebenfalls gut aus. Nicht das klassische Schönheitsideal, aber ein Mann mit Ecken und Kanten. Und Dünn. Furchtbar dünn. Dafür hatte er damals ne volle Unterlippe (oder hat er da eine draufbekommen ;) ?). OK OK, wo ich wieder hinguck...
David was really a lot younger there and also looks really great. Not the classical beauty-ideal, but a man with corners and edges. And thin. Terribly thin. But he had a fuller upper lip this time (or did he receive one on it ;) ?). OK OK, where do I watch...
Ich bin sehr froh dass die DVDs inclusive ungeschnittenem Original in Englisch sind. Deutsch und Englisch sind die Sprachen auf die es mir ankam. Und auf den einzelnen Hüllen steht die Spielzeit in Deutsch und in Englisch. Daran erkennt man wieviel teilweise weggeschnitten (und wohl nie übersetzt) wurde. Allein beim Pilotfilm 10 Minuten. Ich hab zwei Szenen davon gefunden. Nix gewalttätiges, im Gegenteil - Tempellektionen. Schien ihnen wohl nicht wichtig zu sein (AARRGGHHHH).
I am really happy that they included the uncutted english original on the DVDs. German and English are the languages which are important for me. And on the covers the playing-time is written - both: playing time in german and playing time in english. There you can see how much they cutted (and probably never translated). If you only look at the pilot it are 10 minutes. I have found two scenes they cutted out. Nothing violent, in the opposite - lections at the temple. Seems it was not important for them (AAHHHH).
Der Preis von 30 Euro ist ebenfalls klasse. Ich werd mir auf jeden Fall auch die restlichen Seasons holen.
The price with 30 Euros is also really great. I will surly buy the other seasons too as soon as they are released.

Den Piloten und die ersten 3 Eps habe ich bis jetzt gesehen. Kann nur sagen, klasse. Den Pilotfilm muss ich schon mal gesehen haben. Muss aber eh schon länger her sein, und ist nicht wirklich ein Problem. Im Gegenteil, den kann man vermutlich nicht oft genug sehen. :wink:
Till now I've seen the pilot and the first 3 eps. They're all really great. I remember that I must have seen the pilot before. But it was long time ago and it does'nt really matter, because you probabely can't get enough of it.:wink:
Oh ja, jung ist er da - sehr jung. Nun ja und Schönheit liegt bekanntlich im Auge des Betrachters, aber dem gängigen Schönheitsideal entspricht er sicher nicht. Andererseits wahre Schönheit kommt von innen und DC hat definitiv Ausstrahlung und das gewisse Etwas. Vor allem wenn er lacht. Schade das die Rolle es nur selten zulässt, dass er lacht.
Oh yeah, he's young - really young. Well and as we know beauty lies in the eyes of the one who looks. Therefor it doesn't matter that he doesn't match the popular ideal of beauty. Besides real beauty comes from inside a person and DC definitely has charisma, mainly when he's laughing. I regret that his role as Caine gives him so few oportunities to laugh.
Noi, das mit den rausgeschnittenen Szenen finde ich auch den absoluten Hammer. Ich hatte erst gar nicht auf die Laufzeiten der verschiedenen Versionen geachtet. Aber durch Zufall habe ich den Piloten erst im Original angefangen und später, weil mein Mann dazukam, in Deutsch laufen lassen. Da ist mir dann aufgefallen, dass einiges fehlt. Später habe ich dann das Original nochmal angeschaut.
Ich verstehe nicht warum sie die Szenen im Deutschen weggelassen haben. Sie sind zwar für die Handlung nicht tragend, wohl aber für das Verständnis von Caine und seiner Philosophie. Schließlich wird gerade in diesen Szenen ein bisschen was über Kung Fu und die Shaolin erklärt. Na zum Glück haben wir es ja jetzt im Original. :)
Noi, I agree to you. I don't like them cutting off so many scenes in the german version. At first I didn't notice the difference in playing times. I just found it out by chance. I started wathing the pilot in original version, but had to change to the german one, because my husband wanted to assist it too. Thereby I noticed that there were some scenes missing, I had already seen in the english version. Afterwards I watched the whole origianl pilot again to confirm.
I don't understand why they cut those scenes off. Okay, they are not really necessary for the plot but in my opinion they are essencial to understand Caine and his philosophy. After all it is in those scenes where they explain a little bit about Kung Fu and what it is to be a Shaolin. Well, fortunately we have got the original at hand now. :)

Ich stimme Dir bei allem zu Tigerauge.
Was die Szenen angeht: Ich hab das noch nie verstanden. Schneiden wegen Gewalt... wenns sein muß kann ich damit leben. Aber schneiden nur weil die Laufzeit nicht ins Werbekonzept paßt regt mich auf. Die treiben einen zu DVDs und dann guckt keiner mehr TV und damit Werbung. Das ist im Übrigen auch der Grund warum ich immer doppelt schau ob Englisch dabei ist bzw. ob wie hier im Idealfall die ungeschnittenen Folgen dabei sind. Das machts für mich doppelt wertvoll.

In regards to the cut scenes: I never understood that. Cuting because of violence.... I can live with that (I am not happy, but I understand that). But cuting because the show does not fit into the advertising-concept is making me angry. They drive us to buy DVD and then no one looks TV anymore and therefore no advertisement too. This is one of the reasons why I look carefully that english is offered too and as in this cause the original-uncutted-episodes too. This is ideal of course. This makes it double-worthy for me.

Wobei in diesem Fall kann es sich ja nicht mal um Schnitt wegen WErbung handeln. Damals als die Folgen zum ersten Mal gelaufen sind gab es noch keine Werbung. Also macht die Schneiderei noch weniger Sinn, zumal es sich eben nicht um Gewalt-Szenen handelt. Das würde ich auch noch nachvollziehen können, da sie damals auch im Nachmittagsprogramm gelaufen sind.
Sollten sie die Folgen später nochmal nachgeschnitten haben für's Privatfernsehen und jetzt diese Versionen für die DVD verwendet haben, wäre das ja noch idiotischer. Fazit also: Wie du schon sagst, noi, immer schauen, ob die Originalversion mit drauf ist. (Auf was man heut zutage nicht alles achten muß, sollte eigentlich selbstverständlich sein. :roll: )
Although in the case of Kung Fu the reason for the cutting was definetely not advertising. When the show was aired first time, we had no advertising in TV. Therefor there is no sense at all in cutting those scenes, particularly as there is no violence in them. If violence were the reason I could accept it, cause they aired the show in the afternoon.
May be they did the cutting later when the show was aired on privat TV. But if they used this later version (if it exists) now for the DVD, this would be quite stupid. My conclusion: as you alreday said, noi, allways taking care that there is the original/uncut version included in a DVD. (Amazing on what thing you have to have a look nowadays. I allways thought it would be self-evident to put an uncut version on DVD. :roll: )
Inzwischen habe ich mir auch die 3.DVD (Ep 4-6) anschauen können. Mir gefallen die Geschichten immer besser. Die sind so gefühlvoll und bewegend. Die ganze Serie ist eigentlich ein Anachronismus: Gewaltlosigkeit im Wilden Westen. Eine Antiheld als Hauptperson, der wenig sagt und wenn doch, dann tiefschürfende Weisheiten. Ja selbst die Handlung scheint zeitverzögert abzulaufen und das nicht nur in den wirklichen Zeitlupeneinstellungen.
Aber wahrscheinlich ist es gerade das alles, was die Serie ausmacht.
Wenn man sich dagegen die heutigen, action- und temporeichen Filme ansieht, vermute ich mal würde sich heute keiner trauen, so etwas zu machen. Wäre aber als Kontrapunkt, vielleicht gar nicht mal schlecht.
Now I got the chance to watch the 3rd DVD (Eps 4-6). I'm getting more and more impressed with the show. The stories are so touching and soulfull. The show itself is much like an anachronism: Non-violence as main theme in a Western, an antihero as main character, who doesn't speaks a lot, but when he does profound sayings, which are sometimes hard to understand. Even the plot seems to be slow-going, not only in those scenes where they use slow-motion.
Probabely it is this all, what makes the show so special after all.
Comparing it to today's shows, which are full of action and hurry, I believe there would be noone, who would have the courage to produce a show like Kung Fu today. Even if it might be a welcome contrast.

Aber an sich paßts immer noch: 6 DVDs für 30 Euro, 8 für 40. Ich bin froh daß ich diesmal nicht so lange warten muß!
We will get the Season 2 Box-Set at the 20th of May in Germany now as well. I already have ordered them even if they are more expensive then the first one. But it fits: 6 DVDs for 30 Euro, 8 for 40. I am happy that I dont have to wait as long this time to get them.

The 3rd season will be available in USA (and Canada I think) from the 23th of August. The DVDs will have season 1 and there will be 4 discs in it.
(I think that the german ones when they will come out maybe will have a different amount of discs due to the fact that they burn every episode twice - one version is the german tv-aired-version and one is the uncut original us-version).
Ich denke mal daß in Dtl. die Anzahl der Scheiben vielleicht verschieden sein wird weil sie ja jede Folge zweimal brennen - einmal die deutsche TV-Fassung und einmal die ungeschnittene engl. Originalfassung.

wurde der in China gedreht und zeichnet Davids Reise zum Shaolin Klostertemple nach.
Das klingt doch mehr als vielversprechend... :razz:

ja das klingt wirklich sehr interessant, da diese reise sehr aktuell ist, denn sie fand im februar 2005 statt!
