Tokio Hotel
Hi!
After reading so much about this German teen group in "Bravo", I was curious about them.
Now, their album "Shrei" is released in Norway, in an English version, called "Scream". They look a bit weird, to my taste, but I bought the record, and I think it's really great!
Their music is a mix between pop and metal - rock, in my opinion. It's a bit noicy, but has a couple of ballads, and the music sounds very fresh.
Check out "Scream", "Monsoon" and "Rescue Me".
Heabanging greetings from Geir :)

Most people don´t have an objective opinion about Tokio Hotel. Their fans are totally crazy about them while many other people hate Bill and the rest of the group. Yes, I think Tokio Hotel is the most hated group in Germany since Modern Talking.
I am not a fan, but I also have nothing against them. Some of their singles sound not that bad. I don´t know their ballads, because I don´t have an album om them, but I guess they are worth listening.
Their rock songs are a bit to heavy and not my cup of tea.

I do know them, and I think you're right Toni. Since the Netherlands is near to Germany, we have lots of crazy fans here too. Personally I hate their kind of represeting themselves and I don't really appreciate their music too: I have not heard all their songs though I don't like the ones I do know. So yes, you might say I have something against them yes. I see people getting crazy because of TH appearing but on the other hand, I do understand. There's merchandise everywhere - its hard to get away from it. Even in the Netherlands they sell TH shoes, so it's not about their music any longer, which annoyes me. And since Bravo is the ultimate (pop) magazine in Germany and filled with Tokio Hotel, I think it's partly because of the marketing.

Hello!
Thanks for your replies! All though I know what you mean, ( there's many cases where bad music sells due to clever marceting, and also of artists you either love or hate ) the arguments really does remind me of the ones used against a certain Swedish group from the 70's. That also used to be "all over" Bravo for many years

I agree with DancingQueen. I remember someone mentioning Tokio Hotel before - somewhere - most of the stuff wasn't positive. I didn't know who TH were so I looked them up on Youtube and I didn't care for them. I read about them too, it seems that they are really pushing them to be an international act.
I wouldn't mind seeing a German pop/rock band succeeding internationally. I really don't know of any German bands nowadays. I wish I knew more about the German music scene. I really like hearing rock sung in German. When I was younger I use to like Nena, Peter Schilling and Falco (who's Austrian) Interestingly enough Peter Gabriel did record his songs in German too- I always thought they sounded cooler in German.

Personally, I'm not a TH fan, but I like "Monsoon" (the english version).
I think that would be all :?
