I'm gonna be an extra in Mamma Mia the movie!!!
Hi everyone - I am soooo excited! I found out today that I'm going to be an extra in the new movie in a scene with Pierce Brosnan - it's being shot in the Lloyd's building in London and as I'm an employee, we have all had the chance to appear and I've been selected - hurrah!
And I SHALL be demanding my own personal winnebago...!
Lights, camera, action!

Throw a diva strop on your first day on set and get thrown off your first film and you might even go down in history- or the G. Book of Records!
Say stuff like, ''Who IS this Pierce Brosnan, anyway?''
DEMAND lingering close-ups; the lot!

"Jammy sod"? "Strop(py)"? "Mingin'"? I'm beginning to understand what they mean when they say the USA and the UK are "two countries divided by a common language". Or is it "two countries separated by a common language"?

That is fantastic news, I'm so happy for you :D Hope you make the best of your time there. I'm sure it will be a great expirience.

Hi guys - thanks for all your good wishes! - it hadn't even crossed my mind that B&B might be there - I can't see it somehow can you? Surely not...it is only one scene after all, as far as I know. BUT - you never know! Well all I can say is if they are, I will literally explode with excitement...and ruin filming probably (boo!).
I'll work on posting a picture of myself on the site but I'm not good at that sort of thing I'm afraid. I don't really expect that I'll even make it on to film to be honest - I'll probabaly end up in the background behind a pot plant or something! But I'll know I was there...somewhere.
Will keep you posted!

It is not, nor it cannot come to good that you mention his name. You're going to bring bad luck. I heard by quoting Hamlet you can undo "The Curse of Macbeth" oops I just said it

Hello darlings! Just thought I'd pop back and let you know what a roaring success I was in my feature film debut at the weekend. I gave each scene my all and by the end of the day I was utterly spent - I tell you, acting is so, so demanding and I can quite understand why these actors get paid so much money - they deserve every penny! All that standing around must be so hard for them...
I clicked with Pierce straightaway (or at least I would have done, had he even looked at me) and could tell he was impressed with my contribution to the scenes (or at least he would have been, had he known I was even alive) and I think we worked so well together!!
Actually I did have to walk passed him in my two scenes - one I had to walk down an office, passed where he was talking to a group of japanese businessmen and in the other I had go up one escalator while he was coming down the other one so I should hopefully get in the actual scenes - which incidentally are for the opening credits fo the film.
No photos (couldn't take mobiles on set) - no B&B (although they do turn up for filming sometimes apparently) and no gossip (apart from the fact that it's Phyllida Lloyd's first movie and she's making them go well over budget by making them shoot things too many times) - but I did find out that it's Pierce Brosnan who sings 'When All Is Said And Done' in the movie - be strange sung by a bloke...
Anyway that's about it, it was fun (if you like spending most of the morning walking down an office and most of the afternoon going up an escalator) and interesting to see behind the scenes on a movie set. I tell you what though, people who are professional extras are so up themselves - they'll bore the liver out of you at the drop of a hat with tales of their standing around on TV/film sets. I shall therefore take note of this and finish!

Good on ya, abbagav for not getting all 'luvvie' on us and retaining a sense of humour!

What fun! Congratulations! Is there any way we'll be able to tell who you are in the movie? (Well, I guess you told us what you did, didn't you?) But see if you can get someone to help you post a picture of yourself for the site here. That way we can all look for you.
Once again: Congratulations! :boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie:

Yes, Daniel. Quite agree or failing the avatar thing why doesn't abbagav simply DESCRIBE himself here in this thread? That would make sense- hair colour, height, clothes. Stuff like that. Then we'd all be sure to spot the little tyke! LOL

All being well, I should be posting a picture of my lovely self on Sunday - so you can all stop asking what I look like hopefully!!! Unless of course a huge zit appears in the next couple of days - in which case no, no, no, no, no!!!
re 'goosing' Pierce Brosnan and selling my story, Joe - he's not at all sexy in the flesh so I don't think I could go there to be honest. Oh! who am I trying to kid, of course I would especially if money was involved!
Whoops I think that came out a bit wrong...

Interesting, your revelation that Brosnan sings WAISAD. Fitting too cos it is basically quite a masculine song, imo.
Gunnar - 12.08.2007, 20:59
abbagav....
What a wonderfull story. I have been offline for a week and now I'm catching up on all I've missed....
I've been an extra in a couple of films in Norway, and i recognize what you say so well, but being a fan of ABBA, and then get a chance for this film... wouw... lucky guy!!!
I guess you say as Streisand in Funny Girl; "Awww... the success... it just comes too soon...".... hahahahaha

MMM - 29.08.2007, 07:10
I just discovered this thread and have read through it. First of all, congratulations on your "star turn" abbagav - I'm sure we will all be looking for you.
As for the WAISAD revelation - well, that's interesting. When I read it, a picture (well, more like a little movie, really) flashed through my mind as I considered Pierce Brosnan singing "slightly worn, but dignified, and not too old for sex".  I don't know why, but I've not imagined any of the actors singing the songs before this.
I have somewhat mixed feelings about this whole movie thing. While I have my doubts that the musical will translate well to a film, I do recognize that they got quite an amazing cast together. But honestly, the little "mini movie" I just pictured is not helping to ease my doubts at all. Hopefully PB can sing, is all I can say.
The going over budget gossip is interesting too - if true, it almost certainly stems from inexperience...hmmm. Then again, don't most movies go over budget? At least, if the info is true, this may come from wanting to be sure to "get it right". Oh my. It is going to be a long wait for this thing to come out and to find out whether it is okay, good, very good or cringe-worthy. Sigh.
Regards
MMM
platobird - 29.08.2007, 19:05
They usually shoot twice as much as needed, and the movie is "cut" to an acceptable length. OMG! abbagav may get cut.
Then there are the out-takes (we've all enjoyed Agnetha's Raskenstam bloopers) that we'll probably never see. There has to be footage of B or B interacting during shooting. Sometimes they add a second background disc when the movie goes DVD. Let's hope we get this, and it could be more interesting that seeing Pierce and Meryl make love! (Is that in the movie??) :rotfl2:
Maxi-saxi - 30.08.2007, 04:14
Oh God yes there has to be what they call deleted scenes on a bonus disc, with interviews on as well, Most movies do things this way. Bring out extended versions with all the extras on.
They must do the same with Mamma Mia.

Congratulations!
Congratulations ABBAGAV for your 5 minutes of Fame!! An ABBA fan in the Mamma Mia! movie is a must! Great!!!
I love your story and the hot news about "WAISAD" sung by Pierce!
I Have a question and permission:
Could I told your story in my blog? I have a part about MAMMA MIA-THE MOVIE and could be great to tell your great story! I could include a pic of you, maybe the one from this forum.
Please, let me know if you are agree. Your story will be told in my radio show too.
You couldn't take a pic in that moment, but I found some pics from that shoot:

Hope to hear from you!

Well if you think my story is interesting enough to use in your blog then go ahead! Seems a bit dull seeing as I may not even make it to the final cut of the film but if you think it's worth it then hey, fill your boots!
