Favourite Frida Lyric!
#So when are you going to understaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm *not* the woman to make you a man!#

What a *wonderful* lyric - so damn cutting! What are your favourite Frida lyrics? (And yes, I know she didn't actually write it but she did sing it so this is what I mean, her best interpretation of a lyric, if you like.)

Peter
Fire&Ice - 14.11.2006, 02:05

"I know she didn't actually write it but she did sing it so this is what I mean, her best interpretation of a lyric, if you like."

Then I suppose ABBA counts as well.

I let the music speak - all of it.

Andante andante - all of it.

The King has lost his crown - "Was it haaaaard (sultry)to step down from your throne"

Gonna sing you my lovesong - "you're my love you're my angel, you're my first you're my last"

I See Red - "this has to be cut to the bone"
Maxi-saxi - 14.11.2006, 05:49

For me

ABBA - When All Is Said And Done
SOLO - The Sun Will Shine Again & Aven En Blooma

Some great selections there, Fire&Ice!

I would also add: #We're still striving for the sky, No taste for humble pie...# which I have as a little signature somewhere...

the best frida's lyric
"don't do it" looks very simple's lyrics but for me, this lyrics are beautiful because intelligents and with "heart". I don't undersatnd very well swedish but the lyrics from "kvinnor som springer" are very interisting and it seems that frida can write beautiful things.

"To be your's for eternity - what a miracle to happen"

Sends shivers down my spine.

HI!

This song is Fridas The Winner Takes It All about a couple going seperate ways and how she delivers this song!!! Sends shivers down my spine.

2 - The Sun Will Shine Again.
So beautifully sung hand lyrics handles with hard aspects in life.

When All Is Said And Done
Nathan - 14.11.2006, 23:57

'But she might have written that, Peter. It does sound like a typical Kirsty line but it still could have been Frida - or Hans - or all three of them

:-)

It's one of my favourite songs because I'm such a Kirsty fan too :-)
Anonymous - 15.11.2006, 00:42

Hi Nathan. Yes, that's true - she could have had a hand in the line, the 'Shine' album was certainly more of a collaborative effort than its immediate predecessor (IMHO). Quite right. It does sound very Kirsty, though, doesn't it? Such a clever twist of a lyric, I love it. Very her. :)

Hello i thought id bring this topic back up as i had missed it
here's my choices!

1)Take it easy with me please touch me gently like a summers evening breeze, Take your time make it slow Andane Andane just let the feeling grow!(Andante Andante)

2)Sometimes when im mad theres a part of me that seems too be a little sad,Sometimes when i scream theres a voice in me thats says you shouldnt have been so mean ooh no ooh no!( Me and I) :D

3)If you see the wonder of a fairy tale,You can take the future even if you fail,I believe in angels something good in everything i see,I believe in angels when i know the times right for me, Ill cross the stream i have a dream,I have a dream a fantasy too help me thru reality,
and my destination makes it worth the while, Pushing thru the darkness still another mile! (I have a dream) :D

4) I can do it naturaly com'on baby take my hand, Everybody needs a friend too understand,Nothing can be so good, Nothing could be so easy,
Baby just call my name, Its all you have to do and ill take care of you,So come too me i am woman,I can ease all the pain,Baby take my love,I am woman theres no need too exsplain i can give you what you need,When ever the sun dont shine, Let me be the one too ease your troubled mind,Nothing could be so good,Nothing could be so easy,Whenever you need a friend ill be there for you!
(Come to me i am woman) :D

Gloomy moods and inspiration
We're a funny combination
Me and I
(Me and I)

När vädret verkar soligt
i regnet, är det troligt
att detta är den stora kärleken
(Mycket kär)

But underneath
We had a fear of flying
Of getting old
A fear of slowly dying
We took the chance
Like we were dancing our last dance
(Our Last Summer)

Stop pay the price, they said to me
Take this advice, your out of your head
Said stop hold the phone, this has to be
Cut to the bone. Too bad I see red
I see red, I see red, I see red
(I See Red)

Lilacs blossom just as sweet
Now my heart is shattered
If I bowled it down the street
Who's to say it mattered?
If there's one that rode away
What would I be missing?
Lips that taste of tears, they say
Are the best for kissing

(Threnody)

Life, oh life is a chance
We were the only two who spun the wheel
And never scored romance
If we'd stayed to play for fortune
We'd have broke the banks of gold
We'd have taken old Las Vegas
For every cent that she could hold

(Here We'll Stay)

So, I am woman, I am woman
I can do it naturally
Come on baby take my hand
Everybody needs a friend to understand
That nothing could be so good
Nothing could be so easy
Baby, just call my name
It’s all you have to do
And I’ll take care of you

(Come to me I am woman)

Strange how
dangerously indifferent I have grown
cold as a stone

From 'Should I laugh or cry'. Those words and the way they are sung capture the essence of that song.

but who the hell am I

From 'I wonder'. Very powerful song and performance.

'I Wonder' is probably be the best and most apt and Frida sings it with conviction. Also, there's the tiny little fact that the lyrics seem to echo her own life VERY much!

I would say SGO album is quite personal, given the circumstances, you know.
I also feel that IKTSGO was Frida's Winner in a way.
olblackcat - 27.01.2008, 00:45

Fire&Ice wrote: I also feel that IKTSGO was Frida's Winner in a way.
I think Frida's Winner is Comfort Me. It's much more emotional and heartfelt. And it deals with almost the same subject - two people who once were together then parted and then met after a long time.

These lyrics

He looks right through me
To another face
A smile in his eyes
From another time and place
Oh, to feel what it was
That happened then
But he couldn't take me there

are the quintessence of the song, they talk about the man who sees not the actual woman who is in front of him right now and who has changed but the woman he knew in the past... and he's probably very sorry because

He sat out of the lamplight
As if to hide
While waiting for who
I'll never know
He smokes like he means it
To fill what he feels
That's empty
And nowhere to go
He sighs as he
Breathes me 'hello'

I won't continue any longer because it's nothing but pure speculation of mine  but it's also the way I feel this song is...

I don't think that her Winner must be emotional and heartfelt. See, I am speculating too. I thought IKSGO was her own way of getting over certain things.
abbascots - 28.01.2008, 13:52

When all is said and done i think was Frida's Winner!
Johnsteven
drimnagh - 30.01.2008, 14:05

I don't really like all this talk of songs being 'Frida's TWTIA' much. It's enough for me that she sang the songs she did.

-J
Fire&Ice - 30.01.2008, 14:10

It has nothing to do with what you think Joe. It is difficult for me to explain what I mean. The Winner was used metaphorically.

Maybe it is more about interpretation - or through which interpretation Frida processes the pain. Frida did it in SGO - with zest or something like that.

I think she put more into SGO than in When all is said and done. A break-up song does not necessarily have to be a ballad to leave an extremely strong impression on well in this case me.

I doubt anyone would understand this. :P

Of course, I don't want any TWTIA SGO versus c**p, because it was never my intention in the first place.
drimnagh - 30.01.2008, 14:17

Yes, I think I do understand what you mean, Ivana and I'm pleased that you seem to understand me, too! I just tire a little when the 'big' ABBA songs are compared. You know? It can sound a little like, ''Well, this was Frida's attempt at TWTIA..'' when I think there are loads of songs were Frida did an amazing job. But I also realise I might be getting a bit touchy and defending something here that doesn't require it!

By the way, I agree with you about SGO 'v' WAISAD. I've always felt that Frida bared her soul in this song (IKTSGO, i.e)

Fire&Ice - 30.01.2008, 14:23

Besides, it is an honour to use one song metaphorically. 8)
abbascots - 30.01.2008, 14:53

Hi Joe i hope you dont think i was trying too compare one lady v the other :? I get bored with this also  Someone on the thread had mentioned Frida's winner so in comparission i have always thought WAISAD was Frida's heartbreak song as Frida herself has said it was a very emotional time when singing this song and too me you can clearly here Frida's emotion within this song!
Ivana i agree Frida's SGO has zest and raw emotion i understand fully why you think this song
Johnsteven
drimnagh - 30.01.2008, 15:08

No, Johnsteven I didn't think that at all

It's as Ivana said- TWTIA was used as a metaphor and I quite understand
that now.
