'Number Ones' Enters At Number 15 In UK

Surprisingly, 'Number Ones' has entered the UK Top 75 at Number 15, in today's Official UK Chart. (It is Number 9 in the MRIB Chart, but that Chart is not the Official UK Chart).

I say surprisingly, as it has 16 Tracks out of 19 that are on 'Gold', & the 'Gold' Album has sold over 4 Million in the UK. If 'Number Ones' had only gone in at No. 60, (as it has in Ireland), no one would have been surprised.

'Music Week', is already pointing out that it is the least successful 'Number Ones' Album by a big Act, in the UK. The Beatles, Elvis Presley, & Michael Jackson ones, all went in at Number 1. The Bee Gees one got to Number 7, & the Mariah Carey one got to Number 10. However, none of those Albums were nearly exactly the same as huge Number 1 Albums by those same Acts - 'Number Ones' is so like 'Gold', that it has done well to get as high as Number 15.

Anyhow, 'Number Ones' sold 24,384 to go in at Number 15. It may or may not rise next Sunday - the 19th. It sold more, to enter, than 2001's, 'Definitive Collection', which entered where it Peaked - Number 17 - and sold 14,966 copies to do that. (By 2004, it had sold 161,000 in the UK. We will see if 'Number Ones' has that sort of Sale in it, as the Years go by).

'18 Hits' has been no higher than Number 79 in the UK, (where only the Top 75 counts), & it had sold 51,000 UK copies between September 2005 & September 2006. It is probably on 55,000 - 58,000 UK Sales by now.

'Gold' has sold about 100,000 copies, in 2006 - so far - in the UK. It is the 3rd or 4th Best Selling UK Album. However, it was announced today that, 'Greatest Hits' (One), by Queen, is the UK's Best Selling Album - ever. It has sold over 5,400,000 UK copies, since 1981. It has overtaken the Sales of 'Sgt Pepper', by The Beatles - which has been the UK's Best Seller for many, many Years.....

Yes, it is in at 15, surprised too, still X Factor would have helped it along too, good timing eh?

Still not buying it though myself, ordered the DVD version for the "rare" clips (that most of us have anyway too but in inferior quality).

Not now that the well timed and obvious timing of X Factor is over, funny how it coincided with the release of a "new" record. Manipulation? Did I say that?
