Does Your Mother Know
I first heard this song on Television New Zealand in 1979 from the ABBA in Switzerland Special, The song was an earlier version of the final cut which appeared on the Album.
I was a little dissapointed when I got the Album at first because I could remember the version on the TV Special
which one do you like Better,
The version on the TV Special is a lot rockier and heavier so to speak, I like them both

Hi Everyone,
Hi Maxi,
I also have to say I like them both. The first time I heard Does Your Mother Know was on the Australian music program Countdown. Did you recieve Countdown in NZ?? It was the official clip and I remember getting so excited because I thought they were performing live in the studio. :P I was thinking "WOW, if they are in Australia, there is sure to be some more TV appearences". Of course, apart from official video clips, ABBA did not show up in Australia again.
Cheers! Berg.

I like both versions as well. To my ears, the version performed on ABBA in Switzerland was slightly slower and of course rockier. Also the backing vocals of the girls are more prominent at the end of the song.
I have always liked the song, very catchy. Also one of the top performances in the musical "Mamma Mia!".

In Germany "ABBA in Switzerland" was shown, too. I´m nut sure, if I really recognized the difference that time. It was when the single just was released a short time ago.
Now the early version is of course more interesting to my ears, because I´ve heard the released one about a thousand times.
"Does Your Mother Know" is Nr. 109 in my personal ABBA chart.

I like the rockier version! I also like it when Bjorn rocks.
It is a great song, though not a favourite but always good to listen to.

I prefer the rockier version too. DYMK is one of my favourite ABBA songs. :D

I think I prefer the official released version, but the rocky version from ABBA in Switzerland I love almost as much and I find utterly fascinating. I just heard it in the past 4 months.Either way DYMK was destined to be a big hit.

Lets hope that Universal release this on the 30th Anniversary of this special with this song in 2009.
I think it would be great.

A good example how well the boys do as lead vocal for ABBA. Love it to bits! When the bass starts ... Its magic.

The official version is nice, but the live one is better. It's on the concert DVD as well and I love it. Does Your Mother Know is one of my favourite ABBA songs of all times. The lyric, the combination of different voices, that sound created by a bass... I just agree with Marcus: it's wonderful.
