ABBA singing GEMINI Songs
As you know,

Benny & Bjorn wrote about 12/13 songs for Gemini,

I like tham all.

It would have been outstanding if ABBA had gone into the recording Studio to recored these especally Mio My Mio, Slow Emotion & TLC.

Well i was told it was karin Glenmark, but after listening again i am convinced it is agnetha lol :D

This thread's really interesting to me as I've got all the songs B&B wrote for Gemini. To me these songs are almost a continuation of Abba and do follow on nicely from the last recordings in 1982. Sadly they don't have Agnetha's & Frida's vocals which is the main problem. Like Bonnie I have to agree and think Frida would have done a fine job on "Im A B**** When I See Red" it's almost a track that wouldn't have been out of place on her "Somethings Going On" album.
I agree totally with Daniel regarding "Just Like That". The Abba version is by far superior and I will never understand Bjorn & Benny's reasoning for keeping it locked away in the vaults. Of the other songs recorded by Gemini "T.L.C" has echos of "Super Trouper" and "Take A Chance On Me"
while "Slow Emotion" would've had to have been a Bjorn song!
"Too Much Love Is Wasted","Ghost Town" and "Mio My Mio" would have been perfect for Agnetha while Frida could have performed miracles with "Have Mercy","When I Close My Eyes" and "Another You Another Me".

I have the first Gemini record on vinyl, the second on cd and also their compilation "Det bästa med..." on cd. But I must admit I'm not particularly fond on most songs. I do like a few Gemini tracks, like "Mio my mio" and "Have mercy", but to me the Benny & Björn Gemini songs are not a highlight of their careers. I can't see them as the logical follow-ups to the songs on "The visitors". I think most songs are pretty weak and I don't like Karins voice, too shrill. A song like ""TLC" just lacks that certain "magic" and the "tender loving..." backing vocals are a bleak copy of the great "Takeachancetakeachance..." backing on "Take a chance on me.

Of course Agnetha has to sing "Mio my mio" (actually, I prefer the swedish version "Mio min mio") and Björn and Frida have to share the "Have mercy" leads, or Frida has to do it alone. "Another you, another me" and "Just like that" are typical Agnetha songs. I can't think of any Gemini songs for Frida, yes maybe "Slowly", which she actually did on her "Shine" album.

I hope I will be forgiven for being so critical :lol: I don't think Benny & Björn ever did a really good pop song after Abba. I love the musicals and BAO, though, and I also think "Story of a heart" isn't that bad, it reminds me a little of the best things Gemini have done.

In response to what's being said I do agree with Einar..the Gemini songs did make me miss Agnetha and Frida too, and Gunnar I must second your thought as "Another You Another Me" being a Frida song.
Charles as far as I am aware everyone here is entitled to their own opinion so yours is just as important as mine but, after 1982 this for me was the nearest thing I was going to get to new abba songs. I think the Gemini songs are much closer to the tracks recoded in 1982 as oposed to any comparrison with The Visitors songs but I also thought "Have Mercy" would have been a good Frida and Bjorn duet. Sadly I don't think Bjorn was very interested in being a singer at this point and always comes accross as quiet critical of his own vocal performances so perhaps that one could have been a duet for the ladies!!
I still enjoy most of Gemini's B&B songs but what on earth was the purpose of the "Too Much Love Is Wasted" remake on the "Det Basta Med"
compilation....It's supposed to be a swedish version but hardly has any resemblance to the english recording at all!!

Yes Staurt it is mate well spoted :wink: I have never been too Eilean Donan Castle thou :oops: The furthest north ive been is Inverness wee do plan too travel too Sky in the near future and Eilann Castle is on the must see list ive been wanting too visit for a while just never got round too it :wink:

And yes Karin has a good voice but i do like Agnethas version much more her voice on the original is so hauntingly beautiful :D

When I listen to Gemini's albums, I always find myself in the situation of rating the songs like this: a huge song or a very crappy song.
Those huge songs are for me: Too Much Love Is Wasted, Just Like That, Another You Another Me, Mio My Mio - and those would of course have been great ABBA songs. But I'm actually happy with Gemini doing those. I might be in a minority, but I also like Gemini's JLT (in a different way, but still).

Jack I know we've not met but how can you not like "Too Much Love Is Wasted"...its a fab track. Try listening to the remake on "The best of" album and you'll see how great it is!!

I actually meant I love the original version and could totally have imagined Agnetha Singing it but ,I thought the remake was not so good. I think it's "too country". I Thought it was going to be a swedish language version of the original track when I read the Track list on "The Best Of.." but it's like a completely different song. I think an easier way to campare these two completely different songs would be liken "Too Much Love" to "The Winner" and "Dem Som.." to "Burning My Bridges"!
Sorry if you really like it but I do prefer the original version!
