Wiedervereinigung in Williams Windschatten
Take That stellt beim "Bravo"-Geburtstag ihre neue Single "Patience" in Hamburg vor - Erster Fernsehauftritt seit ihrer Wiedervereinigung.
Jason schleift ein Mikrofon über Felsen. Howard trägt den Ständer auf den Schultern. Und auch Mark zieht ein langes Kabel planlos durch die Weite Islands. Nur Gary ist schon angekommen, steht an der Ecke einer Klippe und singt: "Have a little Patience" - Habt ein bisschen Geduld. Wie gerufen, tauchen im Nebel nach und nach die wandernden Drei auf.

So finden sich Jason Orange, Howard Donald, Mark Owen und Gary Barlow in ihrem neuen Video "Patience", das sie am Wochenende in Hamburg vorstellten. Und fast wie im Filmchen haben sie sich auch in Wirklichkeit wiedergefunden, die vier Ex-Jungs von Take That, der einst erfolgreichsten britischen Boyband. Nach ihrer für so viele Mädchen schmerzhaften Trennung, die im Sommer 1995 mit Robbie Williams Abschied begann, haben sie sich also an eigenen Projekten versucht. "Wir sind unabhängiger geworden, als wir es unter dem Dach von Take That waren", resümiert Gary.

Barlow hat gerade eine Autobiografie veröffentlicht. Donald arbeitete zwischendurch als DJ und schrieb Lieder. Orange schauspielerte auf englischen Kleinkunstbühnen. Owen versuchte sich am Rock 'n' Roll und ist vor kurzem Papa geworden.

Die Jungs von damals sind nun Mitte dreißig und Väter. Und müssen nicht mehr das trinken, was man ihnen vor die Nase setzt. Heute bestellen sie eine Tasse Kaffee zum stillen Wasser. "Wir sind viel gelassener geworden", sagt Howard mit verklärtem Blick. Mit neuer Ruhe sind die wiedervereinten Vier zum ersten Mal wieder live in einer Fernsehshow aufgetreten. Bei der Pro-Sieben-Party "50 Jahre Bravo" in der Color Line Arena stellten sie am Sonnabend die Single "Patience" vor. Am 24. November erscheint dazu die CD "Beautiful World" - "das ehrlichste Album, das wir je gemacht haben", wie Mark sagt. Denn die Songs hätten sie alle selbst geschrieben. "Wenn die Platte in Deutschland gut läuft, dann gibt es wohl auch eine Tournee", verspricht Gary.

Der Erfolg, den die reanimierten Take That bisher in ihrer Heimat hatten, spricht absolut für ihren Optimismus: 700 000 Karten verkauften sich in Großbritannien in zwei Tagen. Das können nicht nur gealterte Fans von früher sein.

So richtig festlegen wollen sich die Papa-Boys aber nicht auf eine Zielgruppe. In der zweiten Runde will Take That allen gefallen, nicht nur den 14- bis 17-jährigen "Bravo"-Lesern. Und dafür haben sie die Rollen aufgeteilt: Howard, mit Strickmütze passend zum braunen V-Pulli, gibt den Verwegenen. Gary - oben herum anständig gestreift und muskelbepackt - übernimmt eine Art Vaterrolle. Jason im schwarzen Rolli ist der Denker der Gruppe. Mark füllt die Lücken, die Robbie hinterließ: Als neues Nesthäkchen spielt er den flachsenden Flegel. Und wenn das nicht reicht, sagt Howard einfach den Satz "Mein Deutsch ist scheiße" in die Kameras. Mit dem Sch...-Wort hat Williams im Sommer schließlich Millionen deutsche Fans begeistert - und auch mit dem alten gemeinsamen Song "Back For Good". Ob das ein Zeichen war? Ob der viel bejubelte Aussteiger auch noch im Guten zu Take That zurückkommt? "Vielleicht irgendwann, aber noch nicht", sagt Howard. "Ich habe Rob angerufen und gesagt, wir hätten ihn gern wieder dabei", erzählt er. "Er hat sich bedankt, fühlte sich gerührt, hatte aber zu viel Stress mit seiner eigenen Tournee."
Physisch brauchen die Vier ihren früheren Clown ja nicht unbedingt. Aber seinen Ruhm können sie gebrauchen. Warum sonst stellen sie gerade jetzt ihre Wiedervereinigungssingle vor - einen Tag, nachdem Robbie sein Album "Rudebox" präsentiert, mit dem er angeblich seine traumatischen Erinnerungen an die Zeit im Bubeninternat Take That therapieren will. Und warum sonst holten die Ex-Kollegen bei ihrer Tour in England ein fünftes Mikro auf die Bühne - und ein drei Meter hohes Hologramm von Meister Williams? Im Windschatten fährt es sich eben schneller den Berg hoch.

Take That und die doppelte Versöhnung

london Die Popgruppe bringt nach zehn Jahren erstmals wieder ein Album heraus


Sie haben weltweit über 25 Millionen Alben verkauft, haben allein in Deutschland sieben ihrer insgesamt weit über 50 Gold- und Platin-Auszeichnungen entgegengenommen. Und nach der spektakulären Trennung von Take That im Jahr 1996 mussten sogar Notruftelefone eingerichtet werden, um eine Welle von Suizidversuchen zu stoppen.

Als dann Anfang dieses Jahres bekannt wurde, dass es eine Wiedervereinigung inklusive einer Tour der „erfolgreichsten britischen Band seit den Beatles“ (BBC) geben würde, war selbst das massive Kontingent von 700 000 Karten in nur 48 Stunden ausverkauft. Nach zehn Jahren melden sich Take That nun mit ihrem vierten Studioalbum und einer brandneuen Single zurück.

Eigenkompositionen „Beautiful World“ („Schöne Welt“) wird in Deutschland am 24. November veröffentlicht. Es handelt sich dabei um das erste Studioalbum der Musikgruppe seit „Nobody Else“ aus dem Jahr 1995. Erstmalig haben sich sämtliche Bandmitglieder mit Eigenkompositionen eingebracht. Ihre erste Singleauskopplung „Patience“ wird bereits in der Vorwoche, also am 17. November, in die Läden kommen. Das Video zu „Patience“ wurde in Island unter der Regie von David Mould realisiert.

Versöhnung Nummer Zwei Wie am Sonntag bekannt wurde, gab es gleich noch eine Versöhnung: Robbie Williams und die anderen Mitglieder von Take That haben nach zehn Jahren ebenfalls das Kriegsbeil begraben. Aber „wir sind weit davon entfernt, wieder Freunde zu werden“, sagte Bandmitglied Gary Barlow der „Bild am Sonntag“. Schließlich habe es zehn Jahre lang absolute Funkstille gegeben.

Nur eine Nacht Robbie Williams sei eines Abends nach einem Konzert der Band in London zu ihnen ins Hotel gekommen, und sie hätten miteinander gesprochen. „Wir haben ihn nur diese eine Nacht gesehen, und es war bis dahin so viel passiert - das löst sich nicht in vier oder fünf Stunden. Aber es war gut“, erklärte Barlow.

Nach Streitereien wegen Robbies Drogen- und Alkoholeskapaden hatte der Sänger im Sommer 1995 die Band verlassen und kein gutes Haar an den Ex-Kollegen gelassen. Wenn die Jungs allerdings im kommenden Jahr auf Deutschland-Tournee gehen, wird das trotzdem ohne Robbie William sein. So innig ist die Versöhnung denn doch noch nicht.

Ich wusste gar nicht das Howard da so drüber denkt wie ich auch. Ich glaube eben es wäre wirklich schwer für Robbie sich unterzuordnen so cool es auch wäre wenn es wieder die komplette Band wäre. :?

Big Foot Events Ltd showcase - Afternoon session
A new player on the showcase scene and a friendly, smiling welcome awaited everyone attending the afternoon session in the ‘artist and band-friendly’ surroundings of our new Showcall Showcase home at Park Hall.
To all intents and purposes Girls Only are an all-female vocal group, whose quick change, multi-tribute approach is finding favour in the military and corporate entertainment sector at present.
Costumed and - to some extent - choreographed, Britney Spears and Shania Twain-based musical segments were played out, with the costumes and the sex appeal proving to be the most prominent selling points within the framework of the overall act. Enjoyable and saleable certainly, Girls Only will do considerable business within parts of the cabaret market.
In charge of the announcements was CJ Tazz, a young man with the look of a holiday centre entertainer with a laid back approach to the proceedings as a whole. It should be said that at times Tazz’s background as a children’s entertainer reared its head rather irritatingly within the chosen patter. A showcase compere really needs to be seen to be representing the company behind the show - but perhaps this was his first stab at fronting up a trade-only event.
Tazz introduced a trendy young swing singer, Paul Pashley, who gave us a splendidly well sung version of the Michael Buble arrangment of Moondance. Fresh from a season in a swing-based show on the North Pier Theatre in Blackpool, Pashley looks like a young man who could really hit the mark by fronting a full swing band/Buble-style tribute band. With the looks and vocal ability to back it up, surely one of the wiser players in the tribute market will encourage this young man to dump the backing tracks and join the specialist tribute band gravy train.
It sounded a little early in the day for the vocalist fronting Cher tribute band Believe, with lack of pitch and generally poor technique generating what a good vocal coach will often refer to as ‘afternoon croak’. Perhaps I just caught this particular act on a bad day, but there were also some technical problems going on behind what looked like a family act. In fact the incongrous look, in image terms, of this semi-live act was probably comparable to watching a bald Elvis or an Abba tribute without the obligatory kimonos.
Rock’n’roll band Va Voom were clearly serious about their music and it was great to hear The Stray Cats Strut again, complete with a superb player slapping a lovely double bass. Perhaps it was the quietly oppressive showcase atmosphere but the slighty earnest approach of the three guys on stage just wasn’t matching the mood of what should be exuberant, good old fashioned rock’n’roll. But this was great music from a good live band nonetheless.
Male/female self-contained duo Juice looked and sounded like very experienced campaigners in this specialised field. An element of live music and the ability to present themselves attractively made Juice quite a hit on this well attended afternoon slot. The salsa and latin rhythms of Ricky Martin and Shakira were topped off by a quite superbly sung version of the Chaka Khan song Ain’t Nobody, which also featured some outstanding live keyboard work. Juice are without a doubt one of the real top drawer duos out there on the self-contained act scene.
Rather less impressive was Want You Back: Take That. Given the currently much trumpeted renaissance of Gary Barlow and Co, it’s hardly surprising to see a rash of these all-singing and all-dancing lads around. Having said that, like the real thing after Robbie left, the only one with genuine vocal ability was the slighter larger Mancunian lad and this tribute seemed to run along similar lines. Additionally the set was too long for a showcase and the dance routines looked exhausting and slightly beyond one or two of these bonny lads.
Straight Up are a live four-piece band who were installed in a dark corner of the Park Hall function room, where their gloomy pitch was emphasised more than a little by their funereal stagewear. Having got that out of the way, Straight Up are pretty serious musicians and their impressive and tight sound was noticable, even if the features of the members of the band were not. A guitar rock version of the old John Paul Young chestnut Love Is In The Air was certainly different.
The live band scene in Scotland is still alive and kicking and one of the leading new players in the covers band area is Cosmo’s Cousin. This live four-piece, girl-fronted attraction from Glasgow gave us music from Elton John and Tina Turner but I thought that no matter what was performed, it would all come out right given the amount of vocal and musical ability here. In short, an impressive performance in all departments from these raiders from north of the border and lots of new sassenach friends for Cosmo’s Cousin after this showing, I’ll wager.
Earlier in the session we had seen and endured Cher tribute band Believe. In reality the people involved in Tina Turner tribute act Girl From Nutbush were four and the same. With a dollop of fake tan, a short leather skirt and a new hair-do, the transformation was complete. The claims in the advertising blurb stated that the lady who had taken a crack at Cher earlier was, a ‘stunning soundalike/lookalike’ failed to convince me. In my view, the inevitable result of a sustained vocal performance like we heard here is sure to be chronic laryngitis.
The prerequisite for any successful Abba tribute act, without Benny and Bjorn, is surely two pretty and preferably slim kimino-clad girls, complete with fake Swedish accents, with one blonde and one brunette on stage. Some vocal ability also helps and, although the next act Abba Glamma are not the best example I have seen of this particular tribute subject, they certainly have most of the necessary ingredients in place. Lots of shouting and attempts to wring some kind of response out of the showcase audience demonstrated plenty of pluck.
Impressive showband-style attraction PP and the Floorshakers have long been a favourite on the function and nightclub band scene and on their Big Foot outing they showed exactly how their solid reputation has been garnered. Lots of energy and covers of party style material from the likes of Jackie Wilson and Edwin Starr made PP and the Floorshakers a real highlight, as well as a totally live treat for all in the audience.
Concluding the afternoon slot was a young and rather inexperienced looking two boy and two girl act called Poptabulous. A version of the old Dolly Parton hit Nine To Five sounded as though the backing track had been recorded in a key that was way outside the respective vocal ranges of the two girls on stage. But it was nice to hear the Bucks Fizz toe-tapper Land Of Make Believe again and perhaps their showcase experience here will have benefited this rather raw looking, yet enthusiastic group of holiday-centre style entertainers.

Veronica haalt Take That naar Nederland. Op 30 november organiseert de zender een speciale ontmoeting voor fans op een nog geheime locatie. De muziekmaand opent op 1 december met de comeback van Take That en wereldster Pink. Zoals de Veronica-kijker gewend is heeft elke dag in de December Muziekmaand een bepaald thema, zoals urban, karaoke, rock, diva’s en hiphop. Ook de filmprogrammering is muziekgerelateerd. Zo speelt Beyoncé in Goldmember, Aaliyah in Romeo Must Die en Madonna in Dick Tracy. December Muziekmaand start vanaf 1 december om 21.20 uur bij Veronica.

De opening van de muziekmaand is op vrijdag 1 december met de band Take That, die in de jaren ’90 mateloos populair was en nu hun comeback vieren. Deze avond staan zij op het programma met een documentaire en een concert. Daarnaast is Pink te zien met een gastrol in De Grote Beurt een special en een concert.

De thema- avonden hebben alle weken in december een vaste indeling. Elke avond staat er een verschillende ster centraal. Op zondag staat de programmering in het teken van urban met bijvoorbeeld Eminem. Veronica zendt dan niet alleen de film 8 Mile uit met de rapper in de hoofdrol, maar ook The Story Of Eminem en zijn concert. In het thema urban komen op de zondagen ook sterren als Tupac, Beyoncé en wijlen Aaliyah aan bod.

Maandag is het meebrullen geblazen op het thema karaoke met films als Blues Brothers en Grease. Dinsdag brengt Veronica drugs, seks en Rock & Roll met het thema rock is er onder andere een documentaire over en een concert van Robbie Williams te zien. Maar ook oldies als Queen en Elvis zijn vertegenwoordigd.

Woensdag is het thema diva’s aan de beurt en in dit lijstje komen natuurlijk naast Beyoncé, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez ook Britney Spears, Shakira en Mariah Carey voorbij. Donderdag laat Veronica het thema hip hop zien met LL Cool J, P.Diddy, Hip Hop Wives en Snoop Dogg.

JoJo, die Pussycat Dolls, Robbie Williams und Sunrise Avenue sind drin. Texas Lightning, Duncan James, Pink und Evanescence sind draußen. Wer steht an der Spitze eurer Charts?
Frischer Wind in den Single Charts: Für Texas Lightning („I Promise“), Duncan James („Amazed“) und Pink („U + Ur Hand“) war die Top-10-Zeit abgelaufen. Dafür sind R’n’B-Sängerin JoJo („Too Little Too Late“), die Pussycat Dolls („I Don’t Need A Man“) und Robbie Williams („Lovelight“) ganz neu eingestiegen.

Mit über 200 Stimmen hat sich DSDS-Gewinner Tobias Regner („Cool Without You“) lässig den ersten Platz geschnappt. Die Zweitplatzierte Sandi Thom („I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker“) liegt bereits deutlich abgeschlagen dahinter.

DVD: Take That – The Ultimate Tour

AS a married woman approaching her 30th birthday I thought I'd matured quite a bit over the past 10 years.
But the minute Take That announced they were reforming for a comeback tour I'm ashamed to say I instantly reverted back to my teenage ways and the phone was on permanent redial until I'd obtained tickets, resulting in a rather childish tantrum when I didn't get front row seats.
Fortunately this two-DVD filmed at the City of Manchester Stadium recaptures all the magic of the 2006 tour for those hardcore fans who never thought they'd see the boys' together again.
Take That have always been renowned for the spectacle of their live shows (yes, really) and despite a decade away from the limelight they don't disappoint with a tour that is as fast paced and energetic as ever and a hologram of Robbie projected on to the stage for the opening lines of Could It Be Magic is a particular highlight.
Those pesky Westlife boys would do well to learn from the masters before they start bragging about selling more records again. A great stocking filler for Christmas (if you can bear to wait that long).

Take That, Girls Aloud and Emma Bunton are some of the big name entertainers who will unite tonight for a televised appeal to raise money for children and young people across the UK.
The live seven-hour Children In Need extravaganza will take place from 7pm on BBC One.
TV TV marathon appeal will be hosted by Terry Wogan, Natasha Kaplinsky and Fearne Cotton.

Also appearing will be the BBC's newsreaders and actors from Holby City, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks.
From the West End there will be the stars of the shows Dirty Dancing, Avenue Q, Evita and Wicked.
Ms Kaplinsky said: 'Children In Need is one of the highlights of my year and I'm thrilled to be part of the presenting line-up.
'I am always so amazed at how much money is raised - let's hope this year we'll raise even more money than before.'

Take That in 'gay' shocker

TAKE THAT have sparked outrage after branding skiers and snowboarders "gay".

The band, who admit they have become more "opinionated" since they reformed, used the homophobic term to criticise lovers of winter sports during a live interview on Radio 1.

DJ JO WHILEY asked the foursome - HOWARD DONALD, GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN and JASON ORANGE - what they did in their spare time, and Jason said: "I go skiing in my spare time. Snowboarding is a bit gay isn't it?"

To which Howard replied: "No way, I think skiing is gay. They wear salopettes, those all-in-one suits are definitely gay."

The comments were met with surprise and shock by Jo who was forced to apologise for the band's statements after the interview had finished.

She said: "If there was anything that you may have found offensive I do apologise. I don't think the guys meant it to be offensive, they were just joking around."

IT'S 10 years since they last topped the charts but Take That are back where they belong.

The reformed boy, sorry, man-band shifted more than 20,000 copies of single Patience on its first day of release.

And as they're outselling nearest rival Emma Bunton by more than two to one, Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason look set to have a lot to celebrate this Sunday.


The band were last at No.1 in 1996 with the Bee Gees' How Deep Is Your Love.


Our music industry source tells us: "It's a remarkable feat. A year ago they were all but forgotten.


"The nay-sayers were claiming that the reunion was a waste of time without Robbie Williams but they've proved everyone wrong.


"They're definitely back - and with a vengeance."


HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo added: "Patience is well on its way to giving the band their ninth UK No.1.


"It also makes them early contenders to top the singles chart this Christmas."


To consolidate their comeback - which happened on the back of 3am's campaign to see them reunited - Take That are releasing Beautiful World next week, their first new studio album in over a decade.


It's the first time that all four members of the band have shared songwriting duties and they've enlisted the help of Grammy award-winning producer John Shanks.


We've had a sneak preview of the12-track album and have to say it's even better than we hoped.


Fans hoping for an album chockful of Relight My Fire-esque anthems are in for a shock. The sound is far more mature but no less enticing.


Mark Owen's distinctive voice makes ballad Hold On all the more beautiful, while Shine is a classic-in-the-making with more than a hint of the Scissor Sisters about it. Howard Donald sings instantly memorable Mancunian Way, while Jason Orange's Wooden Boat and Gary Barlow's I'll Wait For Life are just as triumphant.


In Ain't No Sense In Love, Gary sings: "There's no place on Earth I'd rather be."


With a comeback this successful, we can well believe it!

Berlin - Fünf Tage vor dem offiziellen Album-Release des neuen Take-That-Longplayers "Beautiful World" erreichte das Album bereits Gold-Status und sicherte sich sechs mal die Spitzenposition in den Albumcharts.

Die neue Take That-Single "Patience" landete nach Rekord-Verkäufen jetzt auf Platz 1 der englischen Charts. Die Jungs verstehen sich nach der langen Funkstille wieder bestens - ob Robbie Williams sich ärgert, nie mehr dabei sein zu dürfen? Viel ist von seinen Qualitäten als Sänger gerade nämlich nicht zu hören. Dafür nervte er in einem Interview mit dem x. Kommentar bezüglich seiner geschlechtlichen Präferenzen: "Unter extremen Umständen würde ich auch mit einem Mann schlafen. Ich hätte keinen Spaß daran, aber unter Todesangst täte ich es." Take That wow at Abbey Road studios

Take That have played a special gig for just 300 fans.

The band performed at the world-famous Abbey Road studios in London, where the intimate concert was recorded for Radio Two.

And Mark Owen joked: "For the benefit of our radio listeners - we're all singing naked."

The foursome - Owen, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Jason Orange - sang new single Patience and songs from their new album.

And they drew screams from the female audience when they performed old hits Pray, Back For Good and Never Forget.

In tribute to the venue's history, they finished with a Beatles medley.

The band has made a triumphant come back in the past year with a sell-out tour.

Patience is heading for number one this Sunday and the album is predicted to top the charts this Christmas.

Barlow told the audience: "It's been so great to comeback. It has given us a chance to make music again and to see all the faces smiling back at us at our gigs is just great."

The evening was hosted by Radio Two DJ Dermot O'Leary and will be broadcast on Saturday at 8pm.

The concert, recorded for BBC Radio Two on Wednesday, underlines the band's continuing resurgence.

Take That have enjoyed a triumphant comeback in the past year with a sell-out tour.

Patience is heading for number one this Sunday and the album is predicted to top the charts at Christmas.

Barlow told the audience: "It's been a real surprise to all of us - the nicest surprise of my life."

Berlin (ddp) Mehr als zehn Jahre nach ihrer Trennung melden sich Take That nach ihrer Comebacktour auch mit einem neuen Album zurück. "Beautiful World" wird nach Angaben der Plattenfirma Universal Music am Freitag veröffentlicht. Zum ersten Mal schrieb die Band gemeinsam an neuen Songs. Zudem ist jeder von ihnen auf mindestens einem der Songs als Leadsänger zu hören. Schon einige Tage vor der Veröffentlichung der Platte stand fest, dass diese allein durch die Vorbestellungen bereits Goldstatus erreichte.
Im Sommer waren Take That auf große Reunion-Tour gegangen - allerdings ohne Robbie Williams. Mehr als 500 000 Menschen kamen, um das Comeback von Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange und Mark Owen zu erleben.
Zur Veröffentlichung gibt es laut Universal auch einen Wettbewerb: Die Website take-that.de sucht die deutschen Fans, die Mark, Gary, Jason und Howard am ähnlichsten sehen. Wer mitmachen will, schickt per Handy ein Foto an die Kurzwahlnummer 99888. Eine Bilderkennungssoftware gleicht die biometrischen Daten des Fotos mit den hinterlegten Bildern der vier Take-That-Stars ab. Auf der Homepage können sich die Fans ihr Bild und ihren Ähnlichkeitswert ansehen. Den vier Gewinnern winkt ein Treffen mit der Band.
Nach ihrer Gründung 1991 waren Take That mit acht Songs an der Spitze der britischen Single-Charts vertreten. Sie verkauften weltweit mehr als 25 Millionen Platten und sind der erfolgreichste britische Act seit den Beatles. Am 13. Februar 1996 gaben sie ihre Trennung bekannt und stürzten unzählige Teenager in tiefe Trauer.

London - In einem Radiointerview sind Mitglieder der Gruppe Take That verbal entgleist. Wofür sich die Moderatorin anschließend entschuldigte.

Die wiedervereinigte ehemalige Boyband mit Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Gary Barlow und Mark Owen veröffentlichen in diesen Tagen ihr Comeback-Album, und sind deshalb auf Promotiontour. BBC Radio One hatte die Truppe live on air, und Moderatorin Jo Whiley fragte, was die Jungs denn in ihrer Freizeit gerne unternehmen würden.

"Ich gehe Skifahren in meiner Freizeit", antwortete Orange. "Snowboarden ist ein bisschen schwul, nicht wahr?" Dem widersprach Donald: "Von wegen, Skifahren ist schwul. Die tragen alle diese einteiligen Skianzüge, die sind definitiv schwul." Jo Whiley entschuldigte sich im Anschluss des Interviews bei den Hörern: "Ich denke, die Jungs wollten niemandem zu nahe treten, sie haben einfach nur Spaß gemacht".

Tatsächlich wird es auch in Deutschland immer schicker, das Wort "schwul" als negative Wertung für irgendwelche missliebigen Dinge zu nutzen, besonders unter Jugendlichen. Bei dem britischen Sender scheint man dafür eine besondere Sensibilität zu besitzen. So wurde bereits zuvor der BBC-Moderator Chris Moyles umgehend kritisiert, weil er einmal flapsig einen Handy-Klingelton als "gay" bezeichnet hatte. (cw)

London - EMI Music Publishing hat einen Verlagsvertrag mit den Singer/Songwritern der Band Take That, Jason Orange und Howard Donald, geschlossen.

Der langfristige und exklusive Vertrag gilt weltweit und schließt alle Arbeiten für Take That und alle Projekte außerhalb der Band ein. Die in den Neunziger Jahren erfolgreiche Boyband Take That hatte sich nach einer Auflösung in diesem Jahr wieder vereint. Allerdings ohne Robbie Williams. Das verbliebene Quartett veröffentlicht am 24. Novemer das neue Album "Beautyful World" (Polydor/Universal). Allein durch Vorbestellung erreichte der Longplayer bereits Gold-Status.

Take That: Beautiful World

Zwischen Boyband und Beatles: Take That machen auf ihrem Comeback-Album netten, harmlosen Pop. Ihre alten Fans dürften zufrieden sein. Doch die Überraschung fehlt!
Da sind sie also wieder, die wohl heiß begehrtesten Jungs der 90er. Inzwischen sind Gary, Jason, Howard und Mark zu Männern in den Dreißigern gealtert, die es noch mal wissen wollen – auch ohne Superstar Robbie Williams.

Auf echte Up-Tempo-Stücke haben Take That auf „Beautiful World“ ganz verzichtet. Schließlich waren Kuschelsongs schon immer ihre Spezialität. Außerdem sind anstrengende Choreografien im fortgeschrittenen Alter viel zu anstrengend! Deshalb gibt es mit „Patience“ gleich eine schön eingängige Schrammelballade als erste Single. Nicht schlecht, aber ungefähr genau das, was man erwarten konnte! Auf dem Album geht es genauso weiter, nachdem es mit „Reach Out“ eigentlich noch recht schwungvoll und leicht rockig startet.

Doch bereits der Titelsong „Beautiful World“ will nicht wirklich zünden. Der Refrain bleibt völlig auf der Strecke. Wesentlich besser funktioniert das melancholische „Hold On“, bei dem Mark Owen den Lead-Gesang übernimmt. Auf weiten Strecken der CD verweilt jedoch Gary Barlow am Mikro, was die anderen immer wieder in den undankbaren Background verbannt.

„Like I Never Loved You At All“ ist dann wieder so eine nette, aber schrecklich langweilige Kuschelnummer. Schnell weiter zum munteren „Shine“, wieder mit Owen im Vordergrund und einer ordentlichen Portion Beatles-Nostalgie. Die hält sich auf der zweiten Albumhälfte hartnäckig:

„I’d Wait For Life“ entpuppt sich als etwas arg kitschige Ballade mit Streichern und Piano-Akkorden im Lennon-Stil. „What You Believe In“ und „Mancunian Way“ schmecken genauso nach McCartney und Co. Irgendwie ziemlich britisch, aber auch ein wenig angestaubt und eben nur kopiert.

Ain’t No Sense In Love“ fällt erneut in die Kategorie “nett und harmlos”. Die ruhige Folk-Nummer „Wooden Boat“ lässt „Beautiful World“ am Ende ganz unspektakulär ausklingen.

Fazit: Versöhnliche Kuschelkost für erwachsene Teens!

Robbie Williams ging im Streit und versuchte sich als Solokünstler, die Anderen planten auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Popularität ebenfalls eigene Platten. Jetzt ist der Clown und Rüpel Robbie einer der erfolgreichsten Entertainer der Welt und die vier restlichen Band-Mitglieder sind nach gescheiterten Solo-Karrieren wieder Take That.
Ihr Comeback-Album „Beautiful World“ klingt überraschend gut. Schöne Melodien mit Ohrwurm-Qualitäten, gefällig arrangiert, unverkennbar Take That. Die Spitzenplätze der Hitparaden sind zumindest für die nächsten Wochen sicher, ob die Rückkehr der einstigen Boygroup-Stars auch belastbar zu einem großen Erfolg wird, bleibt aber eine spannende Frage. Schließlich wagen sie sich in ein Geschäft zurück, in dem man nicht unbedingt nur für seine musikalischen Qualitäten belohnt wird – wie auch Take-That-Chef Gary Barlow bei seinen zwei Solo-Versuchen feststellen musste.
Sie sind auf ihre alten Fans angewiesen, denen sie vor zehn Jahren das Herz brachen. Denn Barlow (35), Mark Owen (32), Jason Orange (36) und Howard Donald (38) sind inzwischen in einem Alter, in dem auch ein einstiger Mädchenschwarm nicht mehr auf eine neue Fangemeinde in der minderjährigen Zielgruppe von Tokio Hotel hoffen kann.
So klingt auch die neue Musik etwas erwachsener und ruhiger als die Hitalben „Everything Changes“ und „Nobody Else“. Die schnellen Stücke mit weniger Drive und Wucht als einst bei „Relight My Fire“. Die Balladen ein wenig entspannter und dunkler als „Babe“ oder „Nobody Else“. Alles in allem hört man „Beautiful World“ gern. Das einzige Problem von Take That ohne Robbie bleibt letztlich das gleiche, das schon die einzelnen Karrieren der Bandmitglieder verhagelt hat: Das Nette-Jungs-Image und ein gewisser Mangel an Charisma. Es klingt manchmal als wäre in den Songs doch noch ein Platz freigehalten worden.
Die große Wiedervereinigung wurde vor einigen Monaten von einer ausführlichen TV-Dokumentation begleitet, aus der mehrere Bilder im Gedächtnis hängen bleiben. Da wären zum Beispiel die ersten Auftritte in engen Latex-Höschen in Gay-Clubs, symbolisch für die lange, harte Durststrecke am Anfang. Da ist das lange Warten auf Robbie Williams vor dem Kamin eines englischen Herrenhauses. Jonathan Ross To Host Royal Variety Performance

Jonathan Ross will host the 78th annual Royal Variety Performance at the London Coliseum on Monday 4 December 2006. This year's performance will be in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and this will be Jonathan's first Royal Variety appearance.

He joins an illustrious line-up from the worlds of theatre, television, comedy and music including Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, Meatloaf, Take That, John Barrowman, Ken Dodd, Sugababes, the casts of Spamalot, The Sound Of Music (including Connie Fisher), Wicked, Avenue Q and stand-up from Omid Djalili, Jason Byrne, Lee Mack and Michael McIntyre.

Other guests on the night will include Katie Price & Peter Andre, Paul O'Grady, Vernon Kay, Noel Edmonds and many more.

The Royal Variety Performance is an annual charity event in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund.

The show will be broadcast on BBC One in December.

WHO can honestly say they saw this coming? It was surprising enough to have Take That in the same room 10 years after they split.

Then they went on to sell out a mammoth tour in the summer, write a new album (out tomorrow) and take the charts by storm with their gorgeous single, Patience.

At this intimate show, recorded for Radio 2 at Abbey Road studios in London, even the band looked surprised at how well it's all gone. Backed by a string orchestra and dressed in black and white, they couldn't stop beaming at the tiny but excitable audience.

Amid the odd old favourite, this was a chance to hear the new songs for the first time. And they didn't disappoint. The tender I'd Wait For Life is the new Back For Good, Reach Out is wistful guitar pop at its best, while the Mark Owensung Shine is Beatles-inspired brilliance.

Clearly this is no longer a comeback but the start of something special... all over again.

TAKE That are back for good with their first No.1 in 10 years.

Patience, the boy band's first single since re-forming, rose three places to hit the top of the charts.

It came as Westlife triumphed in an album chart battle with music heavyweights Oasis, the Beatles and U2.

Take That, whose last No.1 was How Deep Is Your Love in 1996, knocked Smack That, by Akon featuring Eminem, from the top down to No.2.

Ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton soared 21 places to No.3 with Downtown and Justin Timberlake was down two to No.4 with My Love. Westlife's The Rose fell from No.3 to No.5 and Beyonce's Irreplaceable from No.5 to No.6.

Take That CD

THE reunion tour which saw boy band Take That perform in front of over half a million people was indeed a runaway success.

Now, the band unveils its first single and studio album after 10 years. Take That’s new single Patience was released on Nov 20 by Polydor Records. The single is accompanied by a video shot on location in Iceland.

Take That’s fourth studio album Beautiful World, which features writing contributions from each member of the band, is available in the market today.

Westlife win battle of bands with "Love Album"

LONDON (Reuters) - Irish boy band Westlife were the surprise winners of a high-profile battle to top the album charts on Sunday, beating Oasis, the Beatles and U2 to the top spot.

Westlife's collection of covers, "The Love Album", outsold greatest hits albums from Oasis and U2 as well as the similarly named "Love", a medley of remixed Beatles songs, the Official UK Charts Company said.

The four albums were all released this week in anticipation of strong sales ahead of Christmas, with many industry observers expecting Oasis's "Stop The Clocks" to top the pile.

In the end Oasis had to be content with second place, ahead of the Beatles at number three and "U218 Singles" from U2 at number four.

In the singles chart, reformed boy band Take That climbed three places to score their first number one for a decade with "Patience".

The group -- which launched the career of Robbie Williams -- sold 25 million records worldwide before breaking up in 1996.

Ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton was the week's biggest climber, soaring 21 places to number three with a cover of the Petula Clark hit "Downtown" -- the official single for the BBC's Children In Need fundraiser.

Take That claim number one single

Boy band Take That have crowned their comeback with their first UK number one single in more than a decade.
Patience climbed to the top spot after landing at number four a week ago based on download sales alone.

It is the group's ninth chart-topper of their career - their first was Pray, which made number one in 1993.

In the album chart, Irish boy band Westlife fended off the challenge of Oasis, U2 and the Beatles, who entered at three with the Love album.

Highest new entry

Elsewhere in the singles chart, former Spice Girl Emma Bunton climbed 21 places to number three with her version of Downtown, this year's official Children In Need song.

It is the singer's first Top 10 hit in almost three years.

Both Girls Aloud and Razorlight climbed back inside the Top 10 with Something Kinda Ooooh and America.

Nelly Furtado claimed the highest new entry with All Good Things (Come To An End) at 13, the third single to be taken from her album Loose.

Veteran US rock band the Red Hot Chilli Peppers entered the chart at 16 with their song Snow (Hey Oh), while R&B star Lemar's song Someone Should Tell You made its debut at 21.

Dance band Faithless and singer Pink also registered new entries inside the Top 30.

On the other hand (and on a different tangent), as Take That's first single in a decade entered the top 10 this month, Gary Barlow said: "It's like a crèche backstage." (Three of the band's four members now have children.)

Take That bounce back with number one hit

Take That tonight showed they were back for good with their first number one hit in a decade. Patience, the boyband's first single since re-forming recently, rose three places to hit the top of the charts.
It came as another boyband, Westlife, triumphed in an album chart battle with music heavyweights Oasis, the Beatles and U2.
Take That, whose last number one was How Deep Is Your Love in 1996, displaced Smack That by Akon featuring Eminem, which fell to two. HMV's Gennaro Castaldo said: "Take That appear to have much wider and more credible appeal second time around.
"While, ten years on, their devoted fans can still be relied on to buy their releases, you get the feeling that many other people have warmed to them now that they're no longer a teen band.
"Whether it's just retro appeal, nostalgia or just down to a really wonderful comeback song, Take That are, a bit Cliff-like, in danger of becoming a national treasure."
Tomorrow, fans are expected to queue up for hours ahead of album signings at HMV's flagship stores in London's Oxford Street and Manchester's Market Street.
The appearances by Mark Owen, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Jason Orange are expected to spark "scenes reminiscent of the Take That mania of ten years ago", according to the retailer.
Elsewhere in the singles chart, ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton soared 21 places to three with Downtown and Justin Timberlake was down two to four with My Love.
Westlife's The Rose fell from three to five and Beyonce's Irreplaceable from five to six.
Fedde Le Grand and All Saints each dropped one place, with Put Your Hands Up For Detroit and Rock Steady, to seven and eight.
Girls Aloud climbed three places to nine with Something Kinda Ooooh and rockers Razorlight rose four places to ten with America.
