Neuigkeiten zum Umfang von Modul 3 (und 3.1 / 3.2)
    Zitat:
    Hi all,

This is jwb from the other side of the pond here; I’m a quest and level designer with Turbine.

To clear something up right from the start, the 30% or 40% increase in content number you’ve seen is meant as content added since release. It is not meant as content added in this module. I apologize for this confusion.

Module 3 will feature 12 new quests. Yes, that is the final number. Allow me a moment to explain what that means in more detail.

To start off with, the first quest is the desert itself. It’s huge. By far the largest thing we’ve ever attempted to build. I ran numbers to do some comparisons to try and express its size to you guys in something you could relate to.

If you compare it to the current city, it’s over twice the size, that’s including all the wards (harbor, market, jorasco, deneith, phiarlan, and kundarak)

If you were to relate the size to city blocks in downtown manhattan, it would cover more than 65 full city blocks. Since some of you have never been to manhattan, and you never get to see Stormreach all at once, hopefully this last one will give you a visualization.

If you took FIFA rules for the minimum dimensions of a regulation soccer pitch, the desert would fit 350 fields inside of it. That’s big.

So as you can see, a lot of time went into constructing the desert. It is by far the single most magnificent and gorgeous landscape I’ve seen in an MMO in a long time.

There’s also a smaller landscape to provide access to the desert. This area is a blend of ‘Kobold Assault’ and ‘Protect the Crate’ that encourages players to be well organized and efficient to achieve maximum rewards. This specific quest is gone into in further detail in an upcoming dev diary.

That leaves us with 10 under-the-ground, old-fashioned, DDO style dungeons. These range through a variety of types. We’ve got:

5 ‘singleton’ dungeons, the entrances to these are left to the player to find throughout the desert. They’re shorter, 25 minute experiences that add a bit more backstory to what’s going on out in Menechtarun.
4 ‘leadup’ dungeons. These are the crème of the crop for this module. These 4 include 2 dungeons that I believe are the largest we’ve ever built (One of the we refer to internally as Minneapolis, it’s that big)
Finally, we have our raid, with the Mistress of Mayhem herself.

There’s a lot of content in Module 3, and I can tell you for a fact that PvP had a minimal impact in our ability to make more PvE content. I know it might seem otherwise from the outside, but it’s not true.

Coming up, I can very roughly and preliminarily state the following (Note, full disclaimer, all of this is subject to change):

Update 3.1, which will be coming in November will feature 6 new CR 11 quests, including the return of several familiar faces and locations
Update 3.2, which will be coming in December will have 5 new quests, CR 8 and 9 that are the second chapter in the Litany of the Dead saga.

I’ve written a dev diary that you should be seeing in the next couple of weeks that gives a bit more detail on our process of selecting quests and deciding how to make things. I’m working on another, that is still a long ways off, that should provide more information to you guys about the actual process of building a quest and dungeon, and showing you why it takes the time it does to make custom hand-crafted unique experiences.

What I can say for now is, from the development team, we have 100% confidence in module 3 as being the best work we’ve ever done, and we’re still getting better, so you guys are in for a treat over the next several months and years. The content is only going to get better.

Hope you all enjoy module 3,

    jwb
