Hi everyone,
Do some of you know the meaning of Heart of the Country??
I had my own idea.... If you imagine Synni speaking the words of the song it made sense for me....
A candle burns in the
Heart of the country
The flame fades though
I see to it sadly
It takes me further away
Than I have ever been
Synni was waiting for her lover to come back, but as time went by she had to move to Sweden : further away than she may had ever been...
We took this land
And we brought it goodness
It's taken everything
And left only emptiness
I am not broken
Although I have the seeds in me
Synni was a good Norvegian citizen and brough only good, while the nazi's army took everything and left only emptiness... Synni is not broken, but she was pregnant with Frida
I hide my face against the sun
I hide my fear from everyone
But I've had enough of secrets
They're all lies we're scared to tell
I just need someone to be with
I just need to say you fell
There's nothing out here
But me and a whisper
And now it's failing
I won't even listen
I watch the fall and it's
Time that I was leaving too
Now Frida talks, she said about the secret why she and her grand mother had to leave Norway, and the lies she was scared to tell about who her father could have been (a nazi soldier...) While she said I just need to say you fell, couldnt she speaks about her father ??
and for the chorus:
I wait and the darkness comes
I pray for my only one
And I wonder if you ever
Will see this land again
Still Synni speaking : She waited for her lover to come back, she waited but finally died... She was praying for her only one, baby Anni-Frid, and she wondered if she would ever been able to return to Norway...
Well maybe my interpretation sounds weird to some of you, but why not afterall.....
What do you think??

I do not think it´s weird.It´s just possible, but we´ll never really know what Frida thought while writing this song... :?
Mabye it´s good not to know.But possible is everything. :wink:

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but Frida did not write Heart of the country, a guy called Stuart Adamson wrote itfor her, unfortunately he died a few years ago and i think he was quite young at the time. he was a member of a scottish group who's name i cant remember at the moment.
