Xfire is a free instant messenger that lets people communicate with each other. Its uniqueness lies in its ability to detect what game a particular contact is running.
Its handy to see if you're friends logged on. And also to use it as a quick launcher for horizons and loading your characters on the favourite shard.
Follow these instructions and you can load your favourite game quick and simple.
- locate the xfire directory (c:\program files\xfire\)
- open the xfire_games.ini file with notepad
- press ctrl-f and do a search for: Horizons Online
- replace the entire block with:
[4254]
LongName=Horizons Online
ShortName=ho
LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArtifactEntertainment\Horizons\
LauncherExe=horizons.exe
DetectExe=horizons.exe
InstallHint=horizons.exe
Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH% %UA_LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS% %UA_LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS%
- now browse to [URL="http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13466&highlight=launch"]http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13466&highlight=launch[/URL] and follow the instrucions
- skipp the locating and concentrate on the line which starts with: weblaunch_standard
- copy the part from "weblaunch_standard" untill "DefaultShard"
- open x-fire
- go to extra, options, games and look up horizons
- press the advanced options button and paste the copied line
which should like like this:
weblaunch_standard name@space.com password chaos 15673135 0 68.142.64.210:47101 0602000000B40000523453245322AA4FA094796BA4C8CA2307GD7F9A7C21BC5D457E898727472523F67361F877009168E9432090ACA53E2636402EE4 Charname Default

- press apply and ok
- now try launching your character :-)
