Hi,

Thanks for posting the link to the David Gray website with the 'ahem' comments on Mick. I certainly don't want to cause a problem here and I always attempt to be as tactful as possible but I'd like to say that these type of comments have been made from time to time during the past 21 years and I think we are all used to them by now. Hurtful as they are, it's usually the result of someone being rather stupid and childish and as they see it 'humorous' and sometimes these things are even posted to see how much attention and comments they attract and so the problem escalates.

I certainly don't agree with this type of behaviour or the comments made, and I certainly don't need to use the type of language used in those posts - as my old school teacher used to say 'using bad language is the sign of a very limited vocabulary' - but please before anyone here makes any comments in reply to these people I think you should look at the dates. As far as I can see, the first post is from 2001 and the subject continued until well into 2005, so this is, as far as I am concerned, a subject that is well past it's use by date and is best ignored.

A note to Sasred and Simplymichi:
If you feel that this subject or my reply doesn't belong here please take any action you feel needs to be taken.

Thanks to all who have chipped in on this...for the post and the reactions.

Redlollipop has a very good point. The original post was made in 2000, and only 3 recent replies have been logged (the thread hadn't been active since LAST YEAR before then). Further, if you read the thread through, you'll notice most of it is members either bickering with EACH OTHER, or discussing football teams. It's basically a waste of bandwidth all 'round.

My take: anyone wishing to post to their board to react, don't waste your time. I know nothing about David Gray or his music, but suffice it to say I don't WANT to know based on the behavior of his fans. It's juvenile, ignorant babble. Show these berks that, for however much they may hate Mick (and his band--yes, you're damn right I caught the slag on them as well), Simply Red's fans have CLASS. Don't stoop to their level. Of course, you all have the right to do as you wish in the end, I'm just making my recommendation. Take it or leave it.

Seeing that thread just pointed up something else as well. Remember the arguments that were taking place on THIS board earlier in the year? Those could have been found just as easily as this tripe, as this board is just as public as that one. How we behave here speaks to the world about how we are as fans. Represent your band the way you want them to be viewed. :top

i dont believe forums in any such serious way reflect on who they are about. onnly on who they are made of. those reading them just have to be moreopen-minded to not let ideas of others interfere with theirs and make them change theirs in consequence. better leave everyone tohis or her own.

Reading Sasred's and Redlollipop's messages I think there's nothing more to add. Leave it as it is and don't react to those kind of posts. I don't know anything about David Gray but I think it casts a damning light on him that his fans are allowed to post these kind of "discussions". That's bad promo for him not for Simply Red. Childish, nothing else than childish.

I'm closing this topic here and moving it to the Fairground now. EXTRA, EXTRA is meant for NEWS only ;)
