The Last Legion (2007)
Well, it truly was as cheesy as one would expect, based on the reviews I'd read back when the film came out. But lol I couldn't help myself and had to watch it through the end. I don't usually watch this sort of film, but as I stated earlier, I was sick with a bad cold last weekend. :wink: My son and my husband watch a lot of these sorts of films (Gladiator, 300, etc.) but I rarely do. (I've never seen either of those.) I did watch and enjoy the LoTR trilogy, and I also saw the Clive Owen King Arthur, but didn't care for it at all.
What is noteworthy in this film are some of the performances. I liked the way Firth played his character, and John Hannah and Ben Kingsley were also quite good. In fact, I liked nearly all of the performances (except Aishwarya Rai and the boy from Love Actually). And even though Kevin McKidd's character was very over the top, I think it is what was expected. Having missed the beginning, I didn't get to see Iain Glen and I would like to have seen what he did.
As for costumes, nothing really stood out for me, although I have read that there is a stunning scene near the beginning of the film in which Rai emerges from a lake in a clingy, silk dress.
