    Honour?
I had a chat with who i consider the best person in RTK yesterday, and this question arose 'What is honour?'
I thought that was quite an intriging question!

It got me thinking...Is honour like most other things and just a point of perspective? Or is it something set in stone and cant be changed no matter how u try and view it, and with the word HONOUR being used alot in recent times in different forums i was wondering wot every1 means wen they use the word, wot does it mean 2 u??

Following ure word and not backing out, doing the right thing and defending it, representing ureself as best u can, showing guts?

Now that i think about it, honour is a very open phrase...misued inappropriately too.

Definition = Honour (or honor) comprises the reputation, self-perception or moral identity of an individual or of a group

    Re: Honour?

    naiver - 04.06.2006, 11:34

In general the word honour means a lot of things.

But here, in TW reality honour means only one thing - always having in mind that it is a game. In my opinion this is deffinitely enough to be considered as a honourable player because considering TW as a fun shows your distance to the game, the distance then implicates fair judgement of all matters which represents honour. At least that's what I think about that.

PS. Great new design of forum

    it means being humble.
    it means showing respect.
it means not admitting defeat if one of ur units routs.

just to remind u all, this is just a online game where ppl log on to play. and most of us dont even know each other in real life so dont know wtf honour gotta do with anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!u play the game at ur own risk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY WTF EVER THEY WANT, DONT LIKE OH WELL HONOUR AINT GOT SHIT TO DO WITH IT, THIS AINT NO DAMN MILITARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Honour?

    HunterBlade - 05.06.2006, 18:40

    HONOUR
i have to disagree with furious, yes he may be right in this is only a game, but as i see it, ive made friends on this game not because they are good player's but honourable one's. they are the people i would go down the pub with again and again, the one's i dont like i wouldnt go to a free brothel with, honour in this game mean's it's more enjoyable, because player's who have been beaten and run there last archer's all over the place i try not to play against again and personaly i dont try as hard to help out in a 2v2 because why should i try hard with some-one who has no honour, honour is part of my every day life as it is part of the way i play this game. and in a way it is a military organisation with the leader of a clan, his general's (best player's) and the soldiers (new player's), and every-one is alway's trying to beat another clan, to prove that there clan is the best, which is what every-one calls a clan WAR, and only military personel or like's do....

    HONOUR- Loyalty
    Trust
Moral courage to stand up for whats right
Not taking the piss out of a defeated foe (unless he deserve's
it, by doing it before hand to you)

thats all im going to put for now until i can think of something later.....

to sum up furis ADHD,its a game as it requires no 'honor' because its only a game

    Re: Honour?

    naiver - 05.06.2006, 20:03

Hey Hunterblade, I can't agree with you mate. You use big words for shallow and mundane thing. I can't consider just a game as something which can be connected with honour. In my first post maybe I was not clear enough but I agree with Furious. I think that word honour used in relation to a computer game is nothing more than an exagerration. When taking a game into consideration we should rather use the word "distance" to that game, because as I stated before this one represents "honour" (good behaviour).

Of course this is all the matter of word - for some honour can be showed in the computer game, for the others (me) this is destined for something "higher".

    Re: Honour?

    -FB- - 06.06.2006, 00:58

So i guesse it comes down 2 how seriously u take the TW games, and wether how u act in game or on the forums gives people a pre-determination of who u really are!!

I guesse sum people log on just 2 play, sum log on 2 compete, others just want a laugh (its always strange where u'll meet like minded people) others go a little deeper and role play a little, and i think all of those reasons are good reasons 2 wanna 'PLAY' cause like my pimp Furi said Naiver said its just a game, nothing u do or say in this 'world' will ever affect ur day 2 day life unless u really lonly :p

Like any other game its made 2 be a fun past time, if people want 2 argue with another gamer then so be it, thats there deal, and who knows, Maybe thats a release 4 sum and in actual fact they are the most chilled out pimps u'll ever no 2 there friends and family, like i say who knows, and shud we care? Afterall u can just switch games or ur pc off and its all gone, but i think if we all think about it, ur honour and integrity is never at question in this game or in any other, so im with Furi and Naiver, play and enjoy the game in anyway u want 2, and if people judge ya cause of the things u do in a virtual world then maybe they shud get out more!

But like my bro said, its cool 2 make friends wen u play an online game alot and have a good laugh with em, but i thinks its almost impossible 2 judge sum1s honour or anything else by playing them at any game!

Though i gotta say Honour as a matter of life is a different story

Couldn't agree more with FB, naiver and Furi. IF you wanna act like you do in real life on a gaming community that's fine, but if you wanna act like someone completely different, who the fuck is gonna stop you? It's down to personal opinion and choice, so screw what anyone else says.

    Re: Honour?

    HunterBlade - 06.06.2006, 11:18

i agree with fb, but i didnt make friends by playing them i made them by talking to them, i respected them as gamers when i played them and got to know them by talking to them.....

it is an HONOR to be among my friends and clan m8s here
    other than that ,F.T.W.!

    Re: Honour?

    Blacksox - 06.06.2006, 23:58

honor is the truth no excusses its giving it all you got and showing it and even in games honor should be used. It should be a daily occurance. Something which is very hard to obtain.

    Re: Honour?

    Pariya - 09.06.2006, 05:41

Honour means kissing pariya's ass 24/7.

Responding to pariya's verbal slanders and insults towards you with a humble "yes sir or as you say sir"

And most of all it means not trying to pick the locks on your cage doors. Stay in your fucking cage trying to escape will only make matters worse!

    Aint that right barret!

    Re: Honour?

    Denali - 09.06.2006, 09:05

    Imo honour is:
    - Respect your opponent.
    - NEVER play only to collect screenshots (like some pll in the TW community)
    - Distinguish between tourney games and games for fun.
    - To kick noobs who spend 12300 for 250 soldiers (in a 12.5k game with normal unit size) bann them, write their names on the black list and call em damn noobs is not a sign of disrespect.
    - To fight for milts sister at all costs is not a sign of disrespect its something like the daily fight to survive.
    - To say: STFU prox is not a sign of disrespect
    - To call -Silent-Fireblade his personal slave is not a sign of disrespect.
    - To call -Silent-Denali "den" is a sign of disrespet, call him Mr. Denali.

    Re: Honour?

    Wishazu - 09.06.2006, 11:33

I think I would be in Hunterblades camp on this one. I think honour is important as behaving "honourably" towards each other makes the game more enjoyable. I hate having to deal with dickheads who constantly give me attitude and for no reason, a case in point in my experience is HH.

I knew a few of you in totalwar for a while but never really got to know most of you untill the begininng of this year. At first I kind of stayed away from SA as stupidly I at first listened to other peoples opinions of you but in the end decided fuck that and made a concious effort to get to know you and im glad I did. FB, you have a fiery temper it would appear sometimes but I know your really a kitten :P Milt, talking to you sometimes, when I can understand you lol I think your a very honourable individual.

Well it looks like ive rambled off on a tangent but I guess what im trying to say is Honour is important, but most people`s definitions of honour will be quite different. Yes, its only a game, but goddamnit I want to play it, I want to play it well and I want to play it with likeminded individuals.

To sum up for those that cant be bothered to read, Honour is good and important :)

Quote: NEVER play only to collect screenshots (like some pll in the TW community)
Well it's a good thing Red Lion never does that Den :)

Otherswise, we'd have like 3 dozen vs SA posted

Now I feel compelled to tell you all to get back in your cage, but that line has been dramatically overused, you could say beaten like a dead horse, by one of my m8s

so I will settle with this. England sucks because Harry Potter came out of your country...and I hate the fucking kid like nothing else. Throw him in a cage, along with all the goddamn harry potter lovers

o and back to the thread, sorry lol :D

Honor for me is doing something for someone else without expecting anything in return. ie for TW it would be training a noob like Den because you'll never expect to get anything like a merger in return

    ROFLMAO

jk m8. I love you guys, peace

Jesus christ Rag was joking... lighten the fuck up.

Don't make me let nikki out of her cage! Ask fireblade she is not something you want crawling into your bed in the middle of the night.

    Re: Honour?

    Lion_Ragnarok - 10.06.2006, 00:34

Yo guys I am a little bit shocked to see you all mad at me. I honestly thought we were close enough to joke around like I did. I'm sorry if I offended any of you.

I talked to FB and he believes I was just joking. He's right. When I wrote all that stuff this morning it didn't even occur to me that you would take it seriously. I'll be more careful with what I have to say from now on.

Anyways, I was chatting with FB today and I offered several rooms in our ventrilo free of charge for SA. It's better sound quality then TS. I think you guys might like it. You guys would have a private room for your competitions that only you would know the pw to. I may make the same offer to VH. All three clans could use it together. Would be fun. Either way, you're all welcome to use it whenever. :D

dude,it just seems like nothing is beyond ur competitive spirit, rag.
i do consider u a friend and i have come to know ur personality a bit and i just dont like when u always compare urslef to others thru victory or defeat, and just cuz u say "lol jk" doent necissar8ily mean so ,follow?
rag,i enjoy playing aside u and ur clan but i just dont want things to start becoming like other scenarios i need not mention.
so dont take what i said to heart ,it want meant harm and if i seemed a bit hot ,forgive me also.
