My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
Hi,

The girls were goddesses in those days and the whole shooting is very stylish
and the costumes are quite sexy.
I am searching for other pictures from this shooting,

LOL - EDIT - I have just noticed that's the cropped picture from your magazine. :rotfl:
I came across some artwork in my Photobucket, happened to be from that session:
It is a gorgeous session. The girls (well especially the one hehe) were quite alluring.
There must be a complete photo of this one somewhere..

I love those two squaws doing a pole dance. :love4: I have to remind myself that ABBA was a singing group, and their music is as beautiful as their pictures. :D

I just found out that the "Snowy Window" session is the same as
my alltime favourite session ! Just look at the clothes !
I really never realised this before ! And I am a visual guy
These 2 sessions must have been taken on the same day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Agnetha wore her Indian dress even on several more occasions: the L.A./Beverly Hills street/park sessions, the toy pet session in the studio and also at an award event (in Hamburg I think) later.

I assume that the Native American dresses were inspired by the US trip, but I wonder who came up with the idea? :stupid: The dresses were solely for publicity, and I don't think they ever sang wearing them.
In this era of political correctness, we have to say Native American instead of Indian. When Columbus set off to find a trade route to India, he thought he suceeeded, so we have the West Indies and American Indians. Then came the European invasion; followed by the Asian invasion, leading to the Hispanic invasion. Today, North America is a hodge-podge with multiple heritage. However, to confirm they were here first, American Indians are now natives.
In any event, A&A were charming as squaws :love4:, and B&B should have been wearing loincloths for those photosessions..
That would give the girls here something to slobber over :slobber:.

And it is a pity! I suppose the Snowy window session was also the session for KMKY single sleeve? Or they chose the picture later..
platobird wrote: However, to confirm they were here first, American Indians are now natives.
That's true, isn't it? I wonder how they call themselves actually..

:slobber: I would add that thing with lots of feathers on the head too (what's the word) and a tomahawk!

No tomahawk, and if you want to check the loincloth, you'll have to go there yourself. :rotfl:

I think they call themselves according to which tribe they come from, e.g., Apache, Cherokee, Mohawk, Sioux, etc., etc....
American members could enlighten us if I'm wrong.
Love that session. I also took a long time to realize that they were in these dresses for the Snowy Window scene, too. With snowy windows, does it make sense that the girls are dressed in such summery dresses? (Unless it's supposed to be warm inside.) The day I realized the snowy pictures featured the girls in skimpy outfits, I did think it was a bit odd. Maybe they should have worn wintry clothes to go with that wintry theme.

Thanks Ivana for all those beautiful pics :D It's a gorgeous shoot - and I've only just realised they're wearing the same dresses as in the snowy window session, lol!
The famous photoshopped picture kind of scared me the first time I saw it  I was like "I would never have thought they'd agree to pose for such a picture!", then I realised. :P

Ivana,
you are my heroine of the day for posting those pictures :D
OMG, how S-E-X-Y they were in 1976
I really need to have this photo session in superb quality !
Does anybody know who was the photographer ? He must have the
original negatives so why don't we see them anywhere.
It is the best visual photo shooting of ABBA ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frank: The picture you posted to start this topic says: "Photo by Barry Levine" I assume he owns the whole photo session. I see many articles referring to photographer Levine on the web, and one may provide a contact. In the 70's he was a rock photographer and published a books on Kiss and Woodstock. No indication that he publised anything on ABBA .
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
platobird - 18.07.2009, 22:14
OK, so I followed a Barry Levine link to the Creem Mag website and found a nice ABBA article in the archives. :D Read it here: http://www.creemmagazine.com/_site/BeatGoesOn/Abba/MoneyMoneyMoney001.html
It comes with this squawless picture. I recognize these people!
An interview quotes Barry: "The bands I loved to shoot were KISS, ABBA, Queen, and Motley Crue. The thing they had in common was that they were all very visual bands—they wanted things to be larger than life. " :D

I am just looking at the cover picture... I don't think I have seen that take.. I wish I could (or anyone else :D) remove those letters. Gosh, Agnetha is "ruined" by that picture over her body. I did manage to remove letters off Frida but it is a far cry from what the picture could look without those ghghgnngn letters..
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
FrankLovesABBA - 24.07.2009, 14:36
You are right,Ivana.
But I love those 70ies magazine covers so much that I can accept
that there are letters and words written over the cover picture.
I would give a lot if I could get original pictures in best quality
from this session !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We also had a BRAVO 2 page poster in 1976 with a shot from this session,
do you have this one ?
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
Fire&Ice - 24.07.2009, 21:09
I know which poster you're talking about, and I used to have it in the 70s  but not any more.
Now I know what to hunt next year.
However, I do have another one -
- the one on the right, the snowy window, and
this is the A-4 snowy window I have from a British magazine, don't know which one.

Too late, Con. Ivana's already promised to send me the black and white one for my birthday, haven't you, sweetie? HAVEN'T YOU SWEETIE?! YOU DID, DIDN'T YOU?!!! :!: :!:
Go on! tell them it's mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
jomclane - 03.08.2009, 14:50
 No, I distinctly REMEMBER her saying that ONLY the top-right one was for Pabs, as Con didnt care for that one too much (as we all know he wasnt mad on the girls with their cut short) and you could have it!
So there

Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
Fire&Ice - 03.08.2009, 15:08
Ok, here is the deal.
Con gets the Frida half, Pablo the Agnetha one.
:D    to both of you and welcome back Con!! :rotate: I am in Frankfurt at the moment.
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
jomclane - 03.08.2009, 16:41
Thanks Ivana your such a great peacekeeper!
You know which part either of will be looking at anyway. I'm sure Pablo can give up his claims on Frida in return for 90% ownership of the Agnetha part.
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
Pabs - 03.08.2009, 17:27
But I f*****g ADORE Frida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!:
Not happy about this!

The girls were definitely goddesses. Together, they were irresistible!
Re: My favourite ABBA photo session from 1976...
Fire&Ice - 05.08.2009, 10:23
Ok guys. Nobody gets anything!
Or - Johnny gets the Agnetha part (now that is settled) and Con and Pablo can split the Frida part into two.
Now I wish I had a few more copies of that poster but if I go to Roo next year, I will watch for that poster in particular. It seems to be very popular.
I also wish I could find a few more pictures of the pole session - different takes of course. They all (yes, guys included hehe) look fantastic.
