    Standing Up
Ok, this may be a bit of a blokey rant, but do you girls always have to dance at a SR gig ? :?

There's nothing worse than paying good money to watch and hear SR, and some bird stands straight up, and blocks your view. :-(

If you want to dance to SR, dance in your bedroom :D

Dunno about everyone else, but I HAVE to dance...when the groove calls, I heed. :D But I shouldn't be an issue for most gents--I'm only 5 foot 4 inches...5 foot 7 in heels...how tall are you???

And besides, why not join us in a good boogie? It's good exercise and great fun. :-D

The slow stuff, yeah, sit down for, but I don't understand how anyone can sit still for the uptempo tunes. But, to each their own, everyone takes something different away from the shows.

    Your recommendations, sir? 8)

    I'm 6ft 4"tall.

I'm sorry, i didn't make myself clear. I mean when we are sitting down at a concert.

I want to stay seated, and i usually get a girl standing up in front of me all the way through, which means i either see nothing but her bouncing about, or i myself have to stand the whole concert.

Believe me, there are girls who even dance standing up to the slowies.

If they want to dance in a seated area, go into the aisles or something :?

    I'll get my coat

I'm with ya Shannon, gotta boogie when the boogie calls. I'm the same height as you~ with and without heels :D

Sorry Mr. Bomb Jack. I know it must suck to have your veiw obtunded by some spastic be-bopping girls but hey~ it is a concert and music does that to people. I wil agree that for the down tempo numbers they could part their caboose but those up tempo ones just dare one to stay in their seat!

    Your should dancing!!!!! Yea!
Hey Bombjack I understand how you feel but you’ll never stop the girls from dancing!!! We love to dance!!! :D And you can take me into the Simply Red Police because I’m guilty. Simply Red’s music is so full of energy! I just cannot stay still because the music moves me. How boring it would be if everyone just sat at in their chair and only bobbed the head up & down to the music. The band might think nobody is into the performance or the music.

If you think it’s bad in the UK with the dancing, then you definitely don't want to see a concert in the USA. No matter who is having a concert or what type of music it is, everyone both guys & girls stand up on their feet & shake their grove thing! 8) Dancing at a concert is part of the experience. :-D The feeling is electric and the band does get into the show a bit more. At least with my experience with seeing SR, when I saw them in NYC in 2003 they were very lively & put on an ass kicking show. :top :D I think it was because the crowd in NYC was on their feet, dancing & cheering their hearts out for Simply Red. :clap Not one soul was sitting down!!! That was the best SR concert I ever saw!!! :whistle

    SMILES :D

Right on, D!! If anyone ever told a woman in NY to sit down at a show, that person would have a major problem on their hands :D

Maybe they should "only" sell "standing tickets "
like in some European venues .....

Being only 4 ft 9 inches, sitting behind tall
people makes it also difficult to see the show.

Thank goodness for the tall video screens.

Standing and dancing is mandatory, unless
you are physically challenged to do so....just gotta....

However, that doesn't stop me complaining
that I could not see the concert, all the way home....
and for the next several years afterwards.

It's also possible that you end up sitting behind an elephant,
especially the one who left their seat to stand in
front of the stage blocking your view, spilling beer on your lap,
and who does a good job silencing the lead singer.

    Naw, that never happens..........

I'm with you Lin! Yes, that's the reason why I always try to make it to the front! :D
Oh, and when I'm there, I forget all the world around me *sorry* :devil However, someone as tall as Bomb Jack can sit behind me while I won't sit down and he would still overlook the whole scene

Would be happy to oblige ya (it's a chance to creep further up!!), but 1) tell venue security that!! And 2) when you're in the middle of a row of 18 seats, it kinda pisses people off if you try moving toward the aisle to do ANYTHING.

I totally hear what you're saying, but it just seems that those rows closest to the front (where you'd have the best chance of actually seeing what's going on on stage) are full of people who go for the "whole experience", kind of killing yours. You might be safer a bit further back...ah, what to do??? 'Cause even if the people directly in front of you stay seated, those right at the front will still be up and rockin'...

Simply Red??????? I can't sit and watch. I'm 5'1'' and only seem to bother those wanting to sit.

We have had this discussion on the official forum. But if you are a mad keen fan like most of us here, it is almost impossible to keep that bootie still. :D :D

If you want to sit and watch, it is probably best not to be too near the front. However, we have all experienced the front couple of rows being set aside for Marketing purposes. And those that don't 'love' the music, sitting passively in the front row, much to my annoyance, while I'm stuck too far back.

WOW, IT IS A RANT BLOKE!
THE MUSIC COMES IN AND THE SPIRIT COMES OUT AND ONE MUST DANCE!!!!
IN THE BEDROOM? ARE YOU KIDDING? DANCING GOES HAND AND HAND WITH GOOD MUSIC ANYWHERE.
EVEN IN THE OLD DAYS, WHEN ELVIS WAS LIVE, EVERYONE DANCED AT THE GIGS.
IT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND YOU MR. BOMB.

    Hi Martha Jean~

I had to laugh at your "In the Bedroom" statement. LOVE IT! I find Mick's music perfectly suitable for bedroom dancing ;) Just have to have the right partner. LOL

    1. If they made the gigs part standing instead of all seater then I would stand
    2. Generally speaking the stewards will not let you dance in the isles
    3. & hoping not to offend but Have you no soul? Do you not feel 'di rydem in ya bones' Simply Red's music is DANCE music, you have to dance to it if you don't want to dance stay @ home & listen to the CD or go & watch Radiohead

    Just MHO of course.

I go to a show mainly to WATCH Simply Red perform, and obviously HEAR them " Live ". I can't do this listening to a cd.

I can't watch them if some girly is shaking her booty around in front of me ( which in itself is nice, but not when i want to watch S.R )

I guess it must be a blokey kinda thing

Fair point :-D My suggestion would be a teired )sp) isle close to the front & hope that the girlie in question is shorter than you when she gets up to dance :)
