Here is a place near Salerno, south Italy, where we find a crash site of a Vornier 217. Airplane crashed in 16 september 1943. Some idea about parts and about crew of airplane? Thanks.

i dont know if this helps but...
As you have found a ring Ring with Benito Mussolini on it, perhaps it was an Italian crew?.
from what i can find, 41 mo Stormo di Caccia Notturna flew the DO217J-1, night fighter model. they seem to have had at least 11 of them in July 43
are there any records for Italian Airforce loses during this time?.
pipistrello might be the one who could help you with that question

Thanks. The ring was found in the same place of airplane fragments. But fragments are in a very long area on the top of mountain and some people go there to take alluminium. So the ring cam also to be of someone of these people. We found also a part of fuselage with numbers painted 1577. Do you know of some DO217 fallen in Salerno or Avellino area with these numbers? Thanks.
