Frida in " the movie"
Her 1977 on stage performance and luminous red headed beauty enlightened "Abba the movie".

what are your favourite Frida mpments in the film?

Mine are : the dream sequence "Name of the game",So long, Why did it have to be me (of course:-) and Eagle.....

Re: Frida in " the movie"

johnny59 - 12.02.2009, 11:27

The dream sequence where she's seducing that reporter. Irresistible.

(I am convinced that Lasse Hallström had an idea of what millions of male fans dreamt of when he created that dream scene.)

I also like the MMM performance and that stunt she pulls off with Björn in "Why did it have to be me".

Ivana has some great caps of the dream scene.

I like many of the scenes already mentioned as well.

One scene that stands out for me is when Frida takes the sparkler from one of the children in front of the stage and waves it around during "Dancing Queen". It's only a couple seconds but It touches me somehow, I'm wierd I suppose. :?

JS, you need to be a bit more patient, my friend. One needs to get most of her work done or properly postponed, dispatch various family members in different rooms, take a look around to be sure nobody is watching, click on the picture thread, sit in awe some half eternity, pull herself together enough to be able to utter something like "a...a...amaaaaazing" and then type it also, not forgetting to submit it.

That's a lot of effort, pal! But be sure that your name is synonymous in my dictionary with spectacular artwork and lovely pics posted all over the place!

Well, not to be a sweaty obsessed fan, but I have to say that I truly cannot pick one part of The Movie as my favourite Frida moment, because I am just absolutely in love with her in this. The Movie is what made me enthralled with Frida, and to just pick one part is impossible!

What I will say is this: this period was most definately my favourite for the way Frida looked! Although she looked gorgeous all the time, I just think in 1977 with the red hair etc, she just looked out of this world.

*clears throat* I will stop now... I'm not sweaty and obsessed, honestly...
Ooh, I need to cool down! Stunning pics everyone!

Re: Frida in " the movie"

drimnagh - 15.02.2009, 18:56

I don't care if I'm called sweaty and obsessed (well, I'd mind the 'sweaty' part cos I'm not! ) because perhaps I am a little but where's the harm?

WDIHTBM is my favourite but there are many others...

Just before ABBA take to the stage, Frida starts exercising her vocals in the wings- the tension is palpable and you can see it on all their faces.

When Frida rushes on to the stage for 'Tiger' her flame red hair is caught (shown up) in the lights for a second, the crowd go WILD and it always gives me goosebumps.

Blowing kisses to the crowd.

Her hands faking claws during 'Tiger'. 8)

The close ups of her face during MMM.

It was said that Agnetha and Frida were terrified to speak English in the movie. I think Agnetha was even braver than Frida on that one

I bet that if the hotel scene was in Swedish we would have heard a lot more of Frida! That look on her face

Ah that look (when they're all talking about Agnetha's bottom) spoke a 1000 words! It is perhaps the best bit of classic acting in the whole film, perhaps her one great thespian moment, and its done without uttering a word. (report me if I'm OTT)

Of course in a way we'll all love to see the fiery frida have her say (as she may have done in swedish) but I'd say that they would have cut that out for the film. ABBA would have been perfectly conscious of what the Let It Be film had done to the Beatles. Somethings are better kept private pr they get blown out of proportion by people who dont really understand the full picture.(ie fans and media)

Still I just would have loved to hear her melodious spoken voice on the film a bit more. She could talk about algebra or recount the entire fall of the Roman Empire in Swedish and I would just sit back and listen -bliss.

It is, it definitely is! She had to act it out because the film was made months later after the Australian tour and correct me if I am wrong, this is the Sheraton hotel in Stockholm. :D

jomclane wrote: Of course in a way we'll all love to see the fiery frida have her say (as she may have done in swedish)

That's right. I know the girls absolutely opposed to speak English in the Movie. How come they didn't consider a few lines in Swedish? That would have been exotic. After all they come from Sweden!

Fortunately the fiery Frida had her say in WDIHTBM and well... all over the film. 8)
By the way, how could they not include "I Wonder"... :x

Her accent is extremely sexy when she says that. I have the Arrival Deluxe edition and there are some great interviews there. I suppose we always want more and more though.

To english speaking audiences she did come across in he interviews at the time as a quiet lady with an aura of mystique - always little different looking from the rest of the band.

Yes I agree. I also adore her in Abbadabbadoo.. Well who doesn't? :)
She did not feel comfortable during interviews, that's what I have noticed too. And a few times, I've noticed she was brutally interrupted. Not that I complain but it simply happened. Once by Bjorn  (in Arrival Deluxe) and the other time during the press conference in Edmonton, I think. She was talking about her favourite music and she wanted to go on, but the interviewer turned his attention to Benny so she had to stop. Hmmm I did not like that.

It was 1992 when I saw "The Movie". I was totally bedazzled with Frida there. So seductive, so energy volcano, so nice, so mild.

Erm... Erm... Have I just told "mild"?

Yes it is, I can't remember her name right away but she was in the chior. It's one of my favourite scenes in the Movie. I love the "let's go for it "attitude". It also shows how ABBA and everyone involved where one big family!

Re: Frida in " the movie"

Josie - 19.09.2009, 23:19

Ah, the movie! How I loved it! I also think that Frida showed off her best look ever there, especially in the dream sequence.
This stunningly beautiful face, and her hair red like fire...!
Yes, me too, would have loved to hear her talk a little more - but what we had got here in Germany was a voiceover version of the film (dubbed), anyways.

And there's still one more sequence in the movie that I like very much (sorry I don't have photos): all four members are waving hands to the photographers while standing next to the plane at some airport, Frida is wearing the same blue and white blouse as at the press conference, and sunglasses. Then they go to the staircase leading into the plane, and Frida and Benny are walking hand in hand.... It always makes me go awwww...

Yes, she did look stunning. It was something that brought her energy. But... Have you noticed, people, that she looks kinda exhausted after being transported from the airport to the hotel? As if resting made her tired and the weariness during the concerts gave her another kick of energy :-)

Hmmm I don't remember much interaction with Agnetha during DQ in 77?

Stuart, you've been posting all over Frida. That's cool.

Aha Miss Ivana, don't you lot say Im not fair
I posted loads In the Agnetha section a few weeks ago but I was in a Frida frame of mind and found topics that interested me and grabbed my attention. I will never commit to liking one ABBA lady more or less than the other because of the third voice factor and my strong belief that if they weren't both in the band they would not have had the success that followed.

 It is always worthwhile to browse Frida!

She has plenty of interesting topics!

I was just thrilled that you have brought a lot of interesting and actually good topics that had long been forgotten. 8)
