Hey Helloweenie, why don't you make an option called private rooms in wich you can talk with another registered members that is in the Forum?
For example if I want to talk with Roxy, I will right click on Roxy and select start private room and we can send messages....

Well, there's a private message feature already there... or do you mean a real-time chat with others?

Wong, think Rocky means real-time.
Rocky, that's possible using add-on or plugins, but I don't think they allow those here since this forum is remotely hosted (with ads, I might add). To add features you need to access the forum files, which I don't think the remotely hosted forums provide.
I'd be more than happy to host it free of ads (and with the ability to add features) in my domain (http://www.parimalsatyal.com) - but I'll have to ask Helloweenie and it would have to be a MAJOR switch of servers - but sometime if he wants it, I'm always ready :)
